I think Stoa from Minnesota deserves it. He really has held that team together and really kept the freshman from leaving. I mean Minnesota has play really good the second half of the season, therefore, he by far is the most deserving...

Isn't that the wonderful thing about high school and college hockey? One game and your out. If you dont bring your best, your bound to go home. Was BC the best team in the country last year? Did they deserve to win it? How about Michigan State the year before? How about when UND lost to DU 1-0, when we had Parise and Bochenski? We were amazing that year and didn't win it. Thats what makes HS and college great, one game and your done. You ride a hot goalie or a player whose on fire and you certainly get lucky breaks to win!

Of all places why UMD? Is there area that great (never been there) or program for that matter (development of players for future NHL play)?

The issue isn't whether he's a good coach or not (Lucia), its how long UM can stand losing and not being first. Lucia in my EXPERT opinion is a great coach and a solid recruiter (getting blue chips that is), building a lasting team is what UM struggles with, no depth. In two years after mediocre seasons Lucia, frankly, is gone. No question. The way the fans have thrown Lucia under the bus this season is absolutely crazy. I would hope us Sioux fans would show more respect to Hakstol and the coaching staff. The question remains, who fills his position? You can't tell me that coaching the Fargo Force is ACTUALLY where Blais wants to be, its a stepping stone. Myself being extremely loyal, I would hope that Blais wouldnt go to the UM of all places....

I agree, he's a great coach and i have tons of respect for the guy, I could definately see Dean Blais coming back to college hockey and why would he go to a weak D-1 school, like a UAA, MT, UNO? http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2007/02/15_report.php A source close to the situation said that while Blais is expected to be the coach of the new Fargo-Moorhead franchise, he will keep his options open in case an attractive college coaching job opens. Blais said on a Fargo radio show recently that he would definitely be interested in returning to coaching college hockey if the right job becomes available. It looks like Blais is using the Fargo force job to get back into college hockey. He used to be an assistant coach at UM, but I agree with you that Lucia will be there for a while.

Lately I've been reading some articles from gopher writers and other gopher boggers, and there are SOME that are basically throwing Lucia in the dirt after the past two seasons. There is talk (talk i mean suggestions) that gophers need a Dean Blais to get back on track. Now...what are actually the chances of Dean Blais getting back involved with a D-1 program? Minnesota for that matter? Didn't he graduate from MN?
