  1. It must be tough overreacting to every single game, especially in a sport like hockey.
  2. For that game I think Zane played great, 2 deflection goals and a great PP goal. People that need to get called out IMO Pattyn, Johnson, Jordan Schmaltz, OD needs to sit for Trevor Olson That being said it's 1 game so no reason to freak out
  3. Enjoy! Hope they put on a good show for you! Only time I've been to a game there a pretty solid "Let's GO Sioux" chant was echoing around the arena.
  4. I respect your opinion of liking smaller rinks but I couldn't disagree more and I think it was either Mike Eaves or Rico Blasi that said(paraphrasing) 'if you can play a game at The Ralph, you can play in the national championship'. To me that says REA is one of the toughest buildings to play in throughout the country. 12k fans no matter who is in town. Only us and Wisconsin(when they were good) can say that night in and night out. That's all the validation I need as opposing coaches have no reason to lie.
  5. I think the student section has stepped it up this year and started to make it into the atmosphere we'd all like to have consistently. Last year was disappointing for sure as far as atmosphere but hopefully it gets to where we all know it can be.
  6. I think people take the atmosphere for granted at the ralph. When the Sioux are rolling you seriously think the concrete center in St. Cloud can rival the noise in the ralph? Last weekend for example at the Miami game, it was a pretty loud arena.
  7. Could tell you who I'd bet on to win more nattys over the next 20-40 years. I'll even let you have Penn state AND ASU. Yes stature and tradition has given UND chances, and the more chances the better!
  8. The original point or the reason the conversation came up was that cberkas stated NDSU could reach the same level in hockey as UND and used Penn State as an example. I don't feel like reading up again but I believe you said something to the effect of SCSU does just fine against Minnesota in support of that point. That's where my response came from. Not saying the gap between those 2 schools is absolutely crazy or anything but comparing that to UND vs NDSU, who hasn't even hinted at sniffing D1 hockey, seemed like a stretch to me.
  9. Anyone who thinks SCSU has reached UMNs level of success, tradition, or talent is sadly mistaken. It pains me to say this but UMN is just a flat out better program. Not that SCSU don't get a sniff now and then and we cheer them on, but some cosmic shift in the universe would have to occur for those programs to switch places where all MN kids grow up wanting to be a husky.
  10. Yale has been a collegiate hockey team since 1893, Union since 1919. So it took them 100 years to get their act together. And still, neither team can be argued to be the cream of the crop in college hockey year in and year out. Yes they have good programs but not the winning history or tradition. You can't honestly tell me you think either team is at UND's level, can you? One year does not a program make. They caught lightning in a bottle and hats off to them but it doesn't equate to our 80 years of winning. As for Penn State, call me when they win a conference title, conference tourney, or even make a Frozen Four. Yes they've had some nice upsets and I'm happy for them but so has Appalachian state in football. And all of this is of course negates the fact that the Bison are 80 miles from the best development factory in college hockey, in my humble opinion. They wouldn't get a sniff at a recruit without North Dakota's say so.
  11. No its not, UND actually has a football team and has been around as long, if not close to as long as NDSU. UND is a powerhouse in hockey with the tradition of winning, arena, alums, town/fanbase, and culture to back it up. The Bison have a club team with no precedence in hockey. So how exactly are they the same again?
  12. I thought the atmosphere at REA last weekend for Miami was great. It was much better than any game I remember last year.
  13. No need to be sorry. Marriuci Arena sucks for atmosphere... unless a Sioux game is going on... and those were outlawed for being "unhealthy".
  14. Penn State hasn't beaten Minnesota, have they?
  15. Exactly, just imagine what our varsity team would do to NDSU's club team in the first year or two. It would be a massacre.
  16. I feel like NDSU would be a tough sell for recruits. North Dakota State would never catch up to UND in terms of hockey and would always be the little brother getting the players that didn't get recruited by us.
  17. Wasn't that the year we scored 5 goals and BC scored 6? Not sure I'd classify that as laying an egg. Now, if you want to talk about the Denver FF...
  18. Meh, Dylan Olson has seemed pretty invisible to me all year. Now his brother Trevor Olson is a great player to have in your corner. He plays some old time Fighting Sioux hockey and gets in guys faces to get the team going.
  19. Hak seemed to say a lot with his facial expressions in his interview with Katie Hale after the game. He seemed extremely heated compared to any interview I've seen him do in a while. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but that's what it seemed like.
  20. Yup, my thoughts exactly. Easy to criticize. BTW we are 7-2-1
  21. Anyone see how pissed Hak was in the post game? He pretended like he wasn't but he's a bad actor. I wouldn't want to be in that locker room after the game
  22. Yeah but at least the Toews put the puck in the net. Something the Oshie led team failed to do in Denver(well unless you count the Marto goal late to avoid being shutout).
