Not a real crisp game but glad to get out of it with a needed win. I would expect a better played game tomorrow from the guys in another game we need to have.
-
Would guess we will see both goalies this weekend regardless of how well whoever starts tonight plays, maybe we even get a nice lead and can give Tate some cleanup time on Saturday night. The guys need to just play the type of game they are capable of and everything will be fine this weekend, I am expecting a big weekend from the Seniors and definitely think Kristo will finally get a goal past his dad's former team.

Ageed I would rather not have a nickname because we will always be the SIOUX and that would really help keep the SIOUX name passed down through generations even if it isn't recognized by the NCAA. These guys really do a great job with through these doors and every week I can't wait to check out the next episode.

Austin Poganski and his St. Cloud Cathedral team will play Hermantown at 7:00 tonight for a trip to the state tournament. The game is available to listen to online at http://www.mnsportsnetwork.com/index.php#msbnchannel1 and I plan to listen to it while watching the Sioux game.

I heard a lot of good things about him throughout the year and judging by his point totals he produced most of the season, he is only a 10th grader so he could still grow some.

EGF beats Warroad 2-0. Really impressed with Tanner Tweeten and Dixon Bowen as they created a lot of chances and definitely have some big potential. Eddie Eades has good size and a nice shot but needs to improve his footwork. I liked what I saw from Colton Poolman and Tye Ausmus for EGF as well on the defensive end as they were real smooth skaters and good puck movers. Grant Loven and Brandon Loven also looked pretty good playing on a line with Tweeten and I believe one is a Freshman and one is a Junior. Tommy Hajicek looked good for EGF but he is a Senior and I would guess will be headed to junior hockey next season. EGF completely controlled the game and outshot Warroad 32-13, goalie Justin King really kept Warroad in it and EGF doesn't have a lot of upperclassmen so this could be the start of a nice run for EGF. There were a couple players from Warroad that stuck out a little bit and I saw flashes from and they were 10th graders Jared Bethune and Luke Jaycox, also saw Blayke Nelson (Brock's brother) do some nice things and really has a physical side to his game. I had heard to watch for Kobe Roth but I really wasn't impressed with him and he is very small but looks like he has put the points up throughout the season.

Great chance for Tanner Tweeten looked like he had half the net open on that break. how did he miss that?
-
Haha saw that too "always one joker in the crowd"

Coach Hakstol is in attendance tonight as they showed him on TV standing next to former Sioux Jeff Bowen, looks like a couple of current Sioux players are also at the civic center to take in tonights game too.
-
I'll be watching it on WDAZ. Kind of a contrast in styles as EGF is highly offensive skilled and has great team speed and Warroad is more of a defensive team and can have trouble finding the back of the net. My prediction is the Green Wave head to state with a 3-1 win.

I have heard rumors of it too and think it would be a pretty good fit actually.
-
They would have been in even if they lost to Indiana and won their final 3 against the bottom of the B1G last nights win just solidified their spot.
-
We need to have 4 points against Bemidji and then the best thing would probably be if DU and Minny just tie twice, but I think Minny will take 3 or 4 points from DU next weekend.

It should be one of the better section final matchups, in their only matchup of the season Cathedral won 5-4 in OT in St. Cloud on January 11th. Hermantown has won 11 straight coming into the game while Cathedral is 12-1 in their last 13 games. Should be a good game hoping Cathedral can pull it off so I can get a chance to watch Poganski.
-
I have liked Lizotte since the first time I watched him last season but I think he has a good ways to improve before he gets some D1 options.
-
EGF also has another Ausmus who is a great skater but a little on the small side, for Warroad I think Nelson is Brocks brother but he is not in the same talent class, I'm not sure that Christian even really plays or not, the best prospects from Warroad are Soph forwards Kobe Roth and Jared Bethune. Also for anyone that wants to watch in the area and can't get to the game WDAZ will be broadcasting it live for the first time ever.

Pretty suprised to see Clark getting the start, thought Zane would get a chance to redeem himself especially with the fact that Clark really wasn't very good in relief last night. Hope we get good enough goaltending and finish our chances tonight, need a win!
-
He went on to add 2 more goals for 5 goals and 1 assist in todays 7-2 win. He now has 10 goals and 8 assists in the 2 playoff games and he only played 30 seconds of the 3rd period in the quaterfinal win, so basically 18 points in his last 5 periods of play.
-
Austin Poganski just added his 3rd goal early in the 3rd as his team leads 5-1 in the section semifinals
-
I don't think it does either but I don't think there will be 4,000 in attendance at REA tonight either. The atmosphere will be much better at the civic center tonight, I would expect a very nice crowd and a couple good games. I would guess EGF beats Crookston 5-2 and TRF over Warroad 3-2, wouldn't be suprised to see a couple OTs in the 2nd game.
-
I thought Saunders was just as bad as Zane last night and Zane actually faced a few more difficult chances than Saunders did. I would be suprised if we didn't see Zane again tonight, give him a chance to redeem himself and I think he will get it done.
-
I would bet not very high, Section 8A boys semifinals are in EGF tonight and I wouldn't be suprised if the attendance is better for those 2 games.
-
In the time I was able to watch Rauhauser during period breaks and commercial breaks of the Sioux game I thought he looked like a pretty good prospect. He has some good hands and very good vision of the ice, pretty decent skater and good size but probably needs to add some muscle on the frame and get a little stronger. I think he is a kid to keep tabs on for a year of juniors and see how he performs there but I liked what I saw from him watching him for the first time.

I thought the Caggiula-Rowney-Parks line had pretty consistent sustainded pressure. The MacMillan line had a few moments but really didn't put any consistent pressure on and the 4th line seemed like it wasn't on the ice as much as usual but I think that had more to do with all the penalty kill and powerplay time.
