Not sure how much he has actually watched Schmaltz play and think he may have just caught him on a bad day from what I have seen. Schmaltz is very talented and skilled and should contribute immediately next season when I have seen him he has been flying around and willing to play physical as well as looking to make things happen. I'd be a little surprised if Morelli is drafted and I like the guys we have committed more than him and feel almost all have better potential than him.

Tough loss for CC as him and Slavin were definitely the strength of the team, looking forward to seeing him with the Wild in the next few years.

I picked the Sioux, Minnesota, BC, and Providence to get to the frozen four with Minnesota beating BC for the national championship. Feels really dirty to pick that but I went more with my head than my heart. I have picked the Sioux in most previous years and they have always ended up losing so maybe this will work.

I think this is the best regional we probably could have hoped for. Wisconsin has some top end forwards but not a lot of depth of them and I really have not been impressed with their defensemen especially against Ohio State where they turned the puck over quite a bit and didn't make a lot real crisp plays. Rumpel has been pretty solid for them in net through the year but I thought he looked pretty shaky against Ohio State Saturday. I haven't been at all impressed with Ferris State in the few games I have seen them and I think Colgate will beat them especially if they can play anything like they did against Minnesota.

Sioux Survivor Game #8 2013-2014 - We are in...that is all!

I think the Sioux will be in Cincy and get Wisconsin in the first game. I've watched Wisconsin play a few times now and they have more scoring ability than the last few years but also seem a little weaker on defense and have had some turnover problems on the back end. They have had very solid goaltending most of the year but I thought a couple of the goals Rumpel gave up to Ohio State last night were pretty weak.

It really felt weird to have to live and die with every goal in a game the Sioux weren't even playing in. I was literally celebrating in my living room with every Wisco goal. The game really was an exciting game and I didn't see that coming after a slow 1st period. Just caught a pretty good NCHC finish between Denver and Miami too and I liked the result in that game as I was pulling for Denver too.
-
Hopefully the 3 games in 3 days gets to Ohio State here in the 3rd period and Wisconsin can turn it up a bit and find a to win.

Looks like Josh Archibald is gone. Pittsburgh Penguins @penguins 1h Hobey Baker Award finalist Josh Archibald (vote here: http://pens.pe/PTT5YR ) has joined the @WBSPenguins on an Amateur Tryout Agreement.

Big late goal there hopefully this gets Wisconsin going.
-
Huge chance for Wisconsin here with the late powerplay.
-
This B1G championship just looks bad and slow right now especially compared to the HE game. Hopefully Wisconsin can get something going and bring a little intensity, they probably have to have the next goal to have a chance to win it.
-
The boys took care of what they could take care of today and now we just have to wait. I hope the 3 games in 3 days will hurt Ohio State, LETS GO WISCONSIN AND UMASS-LOWELL!

Agree this game more than any other this year should tell us everything about this team. There should be nothing left in the guys tank by the end of this one and there has to be a sense of urgency and desperation from the Sioux today.
-
At least Western Michigan was trying to build momentum for the playoffs in that game, this time they are done no matter what after today.
-
Sioux have everything to play for and Western Michigan really has nothing to play for. I think a quick start and an early goal is important today for the Sioux. Need to take advantage of the chances and finish on them today. Here is hoping there's a reason for me to be cheering for Lowell and Wisconsin later tonight.
-
Need a Sioux win tomorrow, Wisconsin wins, and Lowell wins and we are in the tourney and at least have a chance and that is all I want right now.
-
Yeah I edited my post and just realized I hadn't saved the results and USCHO had changed the Sioux game back to a win instead of a tie.
-
I know most have said we need to win tomorrow to have a chance but there must be some scenarios where the Sioux can get in with a tie. Messing with pairwise predictor this is a scenario where the Sioux get in with a tie. Robert Morris wins Atlantic Wisconsin wins B1G Colgate wins ECAC Lowell wins Hockey East Denver wins NCHC Sioux tie Ferris wins WCHA EDIT: Looking at it closer the Tie didn't save and had changed back to a win. It seems the best a tie will do for us is put us tied with Michigan for the last spot but looks like they win the tiebreaker.

Agree way to passive and sloppy again tonight and not a lot of crispness from the Sioux tonight.
-
Not a lot went right for the Sioux tonight. 2 missed empty nets and a couple posts and as the Miami goalie said in his interview they got quite a few of the bounces and that is just the way it went tonight. Timing also seemed off all night as passes just missed and way too sloppy again tonight. It has been a trend these last few games but a lot of decent chances were the guys can't even put the puck on net again tonight. Officiating was absolutely awful and helped Miami out with a lot of interference and stick-work they did and not much of it being called. Also a few times when the Sioux would get pressure and Miami just pushed the net off to get a whistle and nothing was called but we get a soft penalty in the 1st and it leads directly to Miami getting the first goal. Have to be better tomorrow and find a way to get a win no matter what and then hope Wisconsin and Lowell can take care of business.

Not sure anyone called him the best forward in the state but he is in the top group, I think people were calling him one of the top scorers in the state which he is.
-
Wow down goes Duke again, Mercer comes from the same conference as Florida Gulf Coast and will try to make the same cinderella type run.
-
Andrew Lindgren from Eagan was pretty impressive in the state tourney and has had very good numbers and his brother plays at SCSU but I'm not quite sold that he can be a #1 guy in college yet. I wouldn't be surprised if our next goalie comes from juniors somewhere, I would guess Hunter Shepherd who won the top goaltender award in MN this season may be an option with a good season in juniors next year. Further down the line I really like Jake Oettinger a freshman this season from Lakeville North.

Thought I had another upset picked right with NC State but they choked away a 16 point lead with 5 minutes left and lost to Saint Louis in OT.
