  1. Sure, but only if you can tell me if the women's hockey team coming back or not.
  2. I 100% agree, but people don't seem to want someone who gets noticed by these big name schools in only a few years of work. The message seems to be we need stability, not someone with the drive who might go looking at bigger and better opportunities/challenges.
  3. None of that answer my question of what happened at VCSU or MiSU that makes him such an impressive candidate except for being "one of us". He was tagged as being inexperienced last time around, did another couple years at Minot really change that? I'm not being negative towards him, I'm really trying to understand the appeal. And pure speculation he wouldn't leave after less than 3 years, he's on the record at looking to advance after less than 2 years after Minot. I'm in no way blaming him for doing it, just point out the hypocrisy for those that are in favor of him and degrading MK for doing the same thing. What if he got approached for an opportunity at the largest undergrad college in the nation or a nearby AAU/P5 school?
  4. Fair considering the optics of the whole thing, though I have a hard time classifying that as a major donor considering it was a gift worth around $11K when it was gifted. On top of that, Schafer is the one who made the decision to close the course, not Kennedy.
  5. Just curious what other donors he had issue with besides McGarry? Definitely can't be the one who wants to drop $20 million on Gamble Hall? The Foundation is on track for its largest year of donations ever, so forgive me if I'm having a hard time buying all this talk "major donors" (outside of one) having such a huge issue with MK. Note - Not defending the assistant thing, but at this point that whole thing has jumped the rails I'm not saying I have anything for or against Shirley, I think he was a quality candidate last time around, but what exactly has he done to show he can lead a D1 research institute? Before Minot, he was president at VCSU for 6 years. Other than being "one of us", I'm honestly curious what he did at either of those two places that people think he would be an instant success at UND? Not to mention he applied for the UND last time around less 2 years after getting to Minot, yet Kennedy is a job hopper for looking at moving up in the world after 2.5-3 years.
  6. It has nothing to do with any recent comments or actions, it's tied to his voting record from 2003-2007 when he was in the House. Looks like some people figure out he was a Republican when he served and voted like most did at the time.
  7. There's some merit to portions of you criticism, but no one is going to be perfect, especially when making incredibly tough and unpopular decisions. There are also numerous examples where no explanation or communication was going to be enough to satisfy the group think because as whole, people react with their emotions instead of logic. Public perception wasn't going to be based on the facts, particularly when the media reporting it already had an axe to grind. You can describe it however you want, but in most cases, the reactions and "solutions" provided by those lobbing the criticism were laughable at best. Hell, most people probably couldn't tell you a thing Kennedy did except for cutting WIH, closing Ray Richards and bumbling the nickname process (even though he wasn't hear for the decision to drop the Sioux name, the choice of the new nickname or the choice of the new logo). Its telling that there are leaders of multiple other higher-ed institutions that have a much higher profile than the flagship institution of the State of North Dakota who have shown so much interest in hiring MK, yet people here are busy holding a grudge 2 years later about the loss of an athletic team that no one showed up to support all while bleeding the athletic department dry.
  8. Kind of seems KEM put herself in a spot on this one. She got her wish, hoping the Foundation has already given her a call to see what donations she was holding back on.
  9. Based on the replies to Schlossman's backhanded tweet, this is correct.
  10. Being recruited to apply for more desirable, higher paying jobs must be hard on a guy.
  11. At this point, things are definitely pointing towards like it is happening. Their board of regents are meeting tomorrow. Kennedy cancelled a meeting with the GF Herald for later this afternoon. This article was from about a month ago: http://www.dailycamera.com/cu-news/ci_32498943/university-colorado-presidential-search-narrows-10-candidates
  12. For being such a supposed "terrible" president, he sure has managed to impress and garner interest from some pretty big name schools during his tenure at UND. Almost like people had a personal vendetta instead of looking at some of the stuff that was accomplished, particularly in the face of the budget mess.

    Spring Ball

Nah, no one has said anything even close to that. Plenty of people have offered constructive criticism and ideas on what could be better. However it does seem that you're content taking the exact opposite approach whereas that there is absolutely nothing positive about the program, every decision (or at minimum, the ones that you don't agree with) deserves to be criticized and the only plausible explanation for things you don't like is because other people don't care about it regardless of actual reasoning making sense.

    Spring Ball

I agree they could make it bigger. I know there are reasons for their current reasoning, but I don't know what they are. But ndsu does a glorified practice instead of a full blown game for their spring game as well, so what exactly does that mean?

    Spring Ball

Technically correct, however tailgating was "allowed" in the past when the spring game was held at Memorial. They could and have made an exception if they chose to. Regardless, I'll take a packed HPC over an empty echo chamber at the Alerus Center (which is booked for a big money event anyway).

Muss 2011 - Alerus - No estimate, poor weather, but there was a cook-off that was done in the snow and people had a blast. 2012 - Alerus - estimated attendance 2,000 2013 - Alerus - No estimate Bubba 2014 - Alerus - estimated attendance 1,100 2015 - Memorial (Saturday morning) - estimated attendance 700 2016 - HPC (scheduled for Memorial, moved to due to weather) - estimated attendance 1,200 2017 - HPC - estimated attendance 1,1100 2018 - HPC - no estimate I think it is fine to do at the HPC, especially with the new bleachers. That being said, even if they keep the practice portion the same, I wish they would make a little more of an event out of it, such as having it on Saturday and doing some sort of tailgating.
  17. Here are the actual current rates. I'm not sure what the usage is for the parking ramp or the shuttle services, I'd be curious about that before getting worked up about the change. 18. No. Absolutely a non-starter. The Olympic arena sees a ton of use during the winter for its intended purpose, hockey. On top of that, it would be a ton of work to shift back and forth between "curling ice" and "hockey ice" and the quality of both would suffer. That doesn't even take into account all of the paint underneath the ice. Grand Forks actually has a very nice, new curling facility, why anyone would want to use something else is beyond me.
  19. I'm not sure it does. Unless someone is on a 4 for 5 or they didn't use their full allotment this year, they were going to have to do something anyway. They didn't graduate anyone and are bringing in a player next season, math wasn't adding up.
  20. I don't disagree, just pointing out why Byfuglien took it as far as he did. On the flip side, Caggiula needs to be smarter than that, especially being a few days out of concussion protocol.
  21. Buff knocked him down and gave him an extra shove or two, but I think everything after that was in response to the slash that Drake game him across the ankle/foot which is speculated to be the "lower body injury" that has kept him out recently.
  22. I'd argue that if he wants to move up the food chain in general, calling FB, MIH and BB aren't bad to have on your reel. Moving up the Midco chain doesn't get your real high.
  23. He could still become eligible within the Summit, he'd just have to file an appeal. My guess is it would be granted. That being said, I don't think he fits into what UND currently needs. He does turn the ball over a lot but he has talent and I think he was misused in Fargo or at least wasn't put in the best spots to excel.
  24. Apropos of nothing, you'd be a terrible investor.
