  1. Wonder if these two things have anything to do with each other... I'll agree they didn't have to throw, but I'd also feel comfortable saying after 5 games, they haven't shown any capability to do so.
  2. So the guy who actually spoke with them understood it completely different than someone who wasn't part of it. Guess I know which one I'd find to be more accurate.
  3. If you're referring to Kolpack's comment, pretty sure he's confusing and connecting two separate conversations. I also doubt that SDSU was doing a ton of gameplanning for NDSU the week of their SIU game. One of the Argus Leader's writers (who actually cover one of the team invovled) corrected him.
  4. I think they played it pretty safe against WIU intentionally so that one doesn't bother me. Saturday was concerning. Didn't even have to make them one-dimensional, they literally are. I don't think they exposed anything, they just outschemed and outplayed UND and that's a problem. Fixable but better do it real fast. Agreed on the reffing, didn't cost UND the game (that'd be the rush defense) but a few of those calls/non-calls/spots definitely made it tougher than it should have been.
  5. That can still be called pass interference however it does become even more of a judgement call than normal. Pretty decent argument that the throw was not "high and deep" nor did it simulate a scrimmage kick. "When there is contact by a Team B player that otherwise would be pass interference during a down in which a Team A potential kicker, from a scrimmage kick formation, simulates a scrimmage kick by throwing the ball high and deep."
  6. I thought so too. Couldn't even get there with overtime.
  7. Watching the couple hits Miller took in limited action last week, he hasn't learned ot adjust to protecting himself at the college level yet. You would have to believe that Holinka is going to bring a few looks that a brand new QB has never seen before. Need to keep him from getting too many yards with his legs because I don't think his arm/decision making will win NDSU the game.
  8. From unofficial sources, Miller will be starting but Entz won't release the info. Not a shocker, was just hoping he might be stubborn enough to roll Noland out for a few series.
  9. Except for on depth charts and injury reports, correct? They were probably recovering from their slobberknocker against Missouri State the week before where they eked out a 27-20 win where they needed two 4th quarter TD's to pull it off.
  10. Flagship =/= Land grant
  11. NDSU also had a 5th year senior as a back-up who supposedly was competing for the starting job going into 2019, so that shouldn't have been that big of a concern. Hasn't the question of how highly ranked would NDSU's back-ups be? Top 10 easy from everything I've seen/heard. Turns out that might not have been so accurate. I'd be more curious why NDSU has lost multiple RB's to transfers and would have been able to provide that depth rather than who has graduated or been injured. And you just named 3 guys who are prototypical of the exact type of player that NDSU fans have ridiculed UND for recruiting. D2 guys with no other D1 offers. Now all of the sudden these guys are the ones who are the reason UND has a good chance to knock of NDSU on Saturday? This isn't direct at you but the line between "excuses" and "reality" are all dependent on which side of the argument you're on.
  12. Same place you took spelling and grammar?
  13. Maag would have himself a game with no help over the top from a safety. He's got 4-5" over their corners. Belquist would be one missed tackle away from taking it to the house. And what if Brockstar suits up? They'll play their traditional defense and probably be fine. Will be a matter of whether UND can wear them down like they have done to opponents the first half of the season.
  14. We do and I would say they have been playing a bit below the expected level going into the season. Also probably fair to say that because of the talent that is (expected to be) there, they are also leaving them out on an island and not bringing as much help over the top, so any mistakes are amplified.
  15. Just wait for the Weah/Skokna backfield. Thunder up the middle or lightning around the edge. Or maybe neither and it will be Maag over the top.
  16. Probably trying to find the missing 3,000+ NDSU fans that haven't shown up the last few weeks to reach capacity. Guessing there will be just a few UND fans available to help them get that number closer to a modified sellout.
  17. I bag on them as much as the next person, especially because they literally are the kings of the quality losses, but so far this year they have a 4 point loss to the #6 team (who scored the go ahead TD with 19 seconds left) and a 1 point loss on the road to the #5 team (where their all-conference kicker shanked a 30 yard field goal with a few seconds left). They are likely going to be 5-2 headed into the season finale against NDSU, who hopefully is sitting on at least 2 losses as well to create what would effectively be a play-in game.
  18. Watson isn't in the same class as Golladay. He's fast, especially for his size, but has trouble catching the ball. Plus he got dinged up on Saturday. Definitely can make plays and their best receiving threat but that won't be NDSU's ticket to winning. Miller appeared to like to bail quickly, but his legs will give Ndsu what they were missing the first few weeks. Holinka will need to make sure to spy him and also send all kinds of things he'll never have seen from different angles. Their line is beatable and UND will be able to get pressure.
  19. I don't think anyone felt "good" about it going into the season. Frankly it was the biggest question mark. Schuster had 34 career attempts going into the season. I would guess Ndsu fans had more confidence in what they thought they had with Noland than UND fans did. We weren't even sure Tommy would be the starter.
  20. No changes to the depth chart heading into week 4.
  21. What level has that happened at? They are usually pretty strict on who is allowed to play up and I've seen very little of it.
  22. 3 top 20 wins including 2 inside the top 10. Not a bad start to the season. Now don't let up.
