As much as I would like to see the two teams play, the game isn't happening this year barring Montana buying out their return trip to Grand Forks. UND is not playing 12 games in a row with its only bye week being the final week of the season. NDSU will have to solve this year's scheduling problems with another expensive one-time game.

Not sure if serious...
-
UND, like many other teams, is sticking with 11 games. UND's other open week is the last week of the season. That would give UND 12 straight games with no bye week. That would be terrible scheduling. Originally, yes. But now that UND is in the Big Sky, Faison has also agreed that would be the best way to restart the series. Faison stated he was sending that exact contract and there hasn't been a peep from GT.

Zero inside info, but wouldn't be surprised if they lost a guy or two that had originally committed. Or could just mean they had a few high targets out there still, thought they still had a shot and found out they were out of the running. Not sure how much to read into it.

You must have missed the interview after the CSU game then.

And size is one thing you can't teach. It looks like in high school they liked to get him the ball in space and let him do some after the catch running, lined him up split out wide even with other tight ends in the game (they usually stayed in and blocked). Welcome Kyle!

You're only looking at it for a 1 year at a time. If it is a home and home, you need to look at the years combined. If they played 2 home games in separate years and made $100K each year (your numbers: $500K gate less $300K guarantee less $100K expenses), they make a total of $200K over 2 years. If they have a home and home with UND, the first year, they make $500K gate less expenses of $100K for a profit of $400K (no guarantee needs to be paid) and make $0 the year they have to go to UND for a total of $400K over a 2 year span. Which scenario (using your numbers) does NDSU come out ahead in?
-
And what numbers are you using to show that they are losing money? The price for bringing teams will only go up and NDSU's margin on games will keep shrinking unless they raise ticket prices. NDSU already charges more for certain basketball games, so obviously the athletic department isn't adverse to doing it, they just haven't yet for football. Frankly, I'm surprised they don't (I guess I haven't cared to look at their single game ticket prices to verify), but if they want to leave money on the table for SDSU, UNI and homecoming games, fine by me.
-
Except you don't have to pay a $250K+ guarantee the year there is a home game and you can charge more for the UND game (dynamic pricing). Not sure how many times people have done the actual math to show that NDSU doesn't lose money in this scenario, but apparently you missed it.

I believe at the luncheon today, despite not dressing tonight, Hak said that O'Donnell had one of his best weeks of practice that he has seen. Someone can correct me if I misheard it but quite certain that was his comment.
-
Jones made some very direct comments today about how well these guys can play as a team when they let the offense run. He also said that some of the guys need to stop coming down the court like they have a big "S" on their chest and try to save the day with a big shot, but rather let the system and game plan do the work. Pretty much the same observation that has been stated over and over here.
-
Pretty much dead on. I would love to see what would happen if someone would go to FU's message board and post some stories about the things that UND's student athletes do in the community with no expectation of attention or recognition.
-
Hak said that Grimaldi is staying wtih Rowney/Caggiula and Gaarder moves down to the Mac's line. Looks to be correct.

Maybe I read it wrong, but it looks to my like you used A&M's 19 point win over SHSU and NDSU's 26 point win over SHSU to say they aren't that far apart. I'm saying that A&M could have won that game by 70+ if they wanted to (and were on track to surpass that). Yeah you said they don't have a chance in hell but you then said they aren't as far apart as people think. Just wondering how far apart you think they are? I think NDSU is a very good team due to their defense and could stick around with the majority of FBS teams because of it (outside of the top 35 or so).
-
So Indiana St. would have a shot is what you're saying? Texax A&M was up 47-0 less than 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter and 47-7 after the 3rd quarter. They let Johnny Football attempt an extra point. I don't think that game was ever in doubt.
-
Their losses were to South Carolina (#8), Northwestern (#17), Georgia (#5) and Florida (#9). I think you're understimating them a little bit.
-
5-2 would be a pretty good home record, not borderline failure, considering that we have 3 of this year's playoff teams (SDSU, MSU and EWU) coming in along with Montana. These are also 4 of the first 6 games of the year with what will most likely be a freshman QB. Our home schedule is much tougher than our away schedule (based on this year at least).
-
There is one or two voters who give their 25th place vote (1 point) to the D-1AA/FCS champion in the final poll of the year every year since 2009. App State also recieved 5 points in the final 2007 poll. Pretty neat, but nothing new.
-
Wonder what will happen in 2014 when the FBS has both bowls and a "playoff" that determines a champion.
-
Did the governor take the time to make the signs that referenced UND that were down in Frisco last year?
-
As I stated, I don't see Faison signing a one game deal with FU. If UM were to buy out the UND game (which is the only reason UND would need to look at scheduling another game for 2013 per what I've seen), they can afford to go on the road for the front end of a home and home contract to set up a nice home game down the road.
-
Everything I've seen and heard from UND's athletic department has been that they are set on 11 game next year. Looking at the schedule, putting NDSU on the September bye date, especially with what looks to be a freshman QB between UM and MSU (edit: SDSU game is before UM game), would be a terrible idea. There was rumbling a few months back that Montana would buy out their trip to Grand Forks ($75-100K I think, but am not sure). I haven't heard anything on that recently and I would assume Montana would extend some courtesy to UND as a conference mate and give a decent heads up if they were to do that. So unless UM buys the game out and GT will actually accept the one time home-and-home that has has claimed he wanted all along, this game will not happen. I don't see Faison signing a one game deal.

FU ends in a T-4 with themselves. Impressive. -
Yet you're still hanging around here...

I do agree, the coaching staff is the one who needs to figure out if you have space for him. But saying is not that. It is saying guys that are already there are better, even though the majority of them haven't seen the field yet. They very well could end up better, but nothing is a guarantee in the world of recruiting.
