That's strange since donations to the Champions Club are the highest they've ever been and UND just surpassed a $300 million dollar fundraising goal from the Spirit Campaign(currently at $324 million). Sounds like those people who you know who quit donating must not have been donating to begin with.

Brekke has shown that when he is healthy he is more than capable of earning playing time, meaning he deserves it. Jones knows what is riding on the line this season. Don't think he is going to jeopardize that be playing favorites. He's benched Huff before, I don't see him having a problem putting whoever will get it done on the floor.

Guys have developed but they could be better. Those first three are pretty good examples of that. They are a super-talented group, but you watch some of the balls they drop or routes they give up on and it is a little disappointing. For the most part, I think a lot of the current upperclassman have not developed as hoped.

Agree completely. UND has recruited some talented players but I don't think many of them have developed to their full potential.

Eric Decker, Dom Barber and Marcus Sherels come to mind right off the top of my head. I said the UM had more talent, I didn't say they were a better team. Which is exactly my point, Brewster isn't a good head coach. There are multiple articles/sources/sites that back up the thought that Brewster is a good recruiter. Would you like a different example? Lane Kiffin. Good recruiter, not much of a coach though.

Big difference between a good college QB and a good NFL QB. With that much talent, he should have been on the field in some way, shape or form. Brewster got him there and didn't know how to use him. Again, bad coaching.

I don't put a ton of stock in the ranking of recruiting classes but that is about all there is to measure and when all the recruiting services seem to concur that he had a great class, it is tough to argue. I guess your view of it is more accurate somehow? He wasn't successful because he was a bad coach and couldn't get anything out of those kids and/or keep them on the field or at the school, not because he couldn't bring talent in. Watching how he handled MarQueis Gray (who was the #3 QB recruit in the nation) should be proof enough that is was his coaching, not the recruiting, that was his issue. And all schools take chances on kids with low ACT scores/grades and hope they turn it around when they get to college, from the top of the FBS all through the college ranks. You're an idiot if you don't. There are examples on rosters across the country of players who got a chance to turn it around and did. A couple of the best players down at NDSU are good examples of this. Even if he was a bad recruiter, his teams still had more talent than NDSU or USD did when they lost to them. Why do you think he lost those games? Bad coaching.

He got talented kids to UM. I'm not sure how you can say he didn't when he had a top 15-20 recruiting class at UM. As a few others have said, a portion of them ended up not being eligible or leaving and he was not a good head coach and didn't know how to use the players he had (or at least those that actually saw the field). I don't think it was the talent that Brewster had, it was that he didn't know how to use it. And yes, he is a great talker. You don't think that plays a large part into being a good recruiter?

Brewster was a very good recruiter. His 2008 class was a top 15-20 nationally depending on which rankings you look at. There is also a reason he is currently the recruiting coordinator at Florida State. The guy can get people to buy in, but can't execute the X's and O's. Need both and I think the coaching part is more important.

No clue why either of them left, but Demler was rated as the #2 QB in Wisconsin, won the award for the top QB in Wisconsin his senior year and I believe was a 2 star recruit. I don't know what Comes accolades were coming into UND but I believe he had some pretty good numbers out of California.

This was his first year on campus. Moved back home to be with his baby and girlfriend. Left on understandable terms, who knows, maybe he ends back up here?

I don't disagree with you and if our staff isn't doing what they should be in ND, that is disappointing. Completely separate point from a HS coach holding a grudge and not allowing his kids every opportunity possible because of a personal issue he has with someone.

Wasn't talking about him. Demler and Comes were both recruited in 2010 and would be juniors this year. Since two QB's were brought in with the 2010 class, they didn't bring any in for 2011. That is where the hole in the QB recruiting comes from.

As a HS coach, denying a kid an opportunity because you felt slighted by a college coach is pretty irresponsible. They should definitely have some input as they are more familiar than most families about the process (like you said) but they should present all opportunities.

I agree. It isn't like the young guys couldn't have let Montana march down the field every drive until the 4th quarter. Find out now if they can play because the guys in there right now aren't exactly getting it done. I think that message is coming across slowly with Kuska starting last weekend.

Weren't Bradley and Hanson the only two transfers? Two years in a row the QB recruits left, that creates quite a hole.

To expand on this, he was with Pearl for 10 years and was in charge of recruiting and scouting at UT. The beneifts of adding him will likely be seen beyond this year, though I'd assume he'll be able to add another dimension in the scouting aspect immediately.
