Good win last night. After partway through the first half, the game never really seemed in doubt, though we continue to have trouble stopping players in the post. Some good passing and team basketball last night, still some lapses on help defense. Not real sure of the 11 man rotation we went with last night, but tough to argue with the results I guess. Was surprised when I looked at rebounds that they only had one more than us (34-33) and we actually had 1 more offensive rebound than they did (10-11). Gave up some bad offensive rebounds, but unforutnately that is to be expected at this point. And Huff's reverse dunk was nuts.

Was someone talking about starting a preposterous statement tournament? If so, you can cancel it. We have a winner.

Must be 10's of dollars coming in on the game, UND now listed as an 8 point favorite.
-
No inside information and agree that Traylor has shown he contributes all around more than Salmonson has this year, but my guess is that seems Traylor has a tendency to pick up a quick foul or two and also provides a decent spark off the bench. Anyone know if Schuler will be dressed and playing tonight?

1. Weber 2. UNC 3. UM 4.UND 5. Sac St 6. MSU 7. PSU/EWU/NAU however the tie-break works out. See us ending up playing Weber in the semis unless UND can win out and UM loses either to MSU or Sac St and are able to flip that seeding. If UND wins out and UM loses 1 game, UND would have the tie-breaker of UM being 1-1 against UNC vs 2-0. It gets a lot messier if UND loses one and needs UM to lose two.

There is a large rift between the SBoHE and a fairly decent sized faction of legislatures. There will be a measure on the ballot this fall to eliminate the SBoHE and replace it with an appoitned 3 person panel (Commissioners of Higher Education). The measure was put on the ballot through legislative approval. The commissioners are appointed by a majority vote of ND Speaker of the House (currently David Drovdal), Pro Tem of the Senate (Rich Wardner), Cheif Justice of the Supreme Court (Gerald VandeWalle), Superintendent of Public Instruction (Kirsten Baesler) and a representative of an educational interest group selected by 3 of the 4 previously listed. I don't know quite enough about the changes to understand how good or bad it may end up being, but I know the legislature doesn't care for the SBoHE and it leads me to be very cautious on what they are proposing.
-
The SBoHE was created in 1939 but has gained a lot more control in the last 10-20 years that the legislature would like back.
-
Predicted they finish the last 9 games of the season at minimum 6-3, currently sitting at 3-2. Has played out roughly how I assumed it would (split MSU/UM at home, split the road trip). Expecting them to go at least 2-1 on the homestand and beat SUU to finish the season. A win tonight makes that 2-1 homestand look a lot easier especially with UNC looming at the end.
-
He used UND to challenge to SBoHE. The legislature would love to see the SBoHE disbanded and control of higher education given back to them.
-
This is correct. If UND handles their own business, they will be fine.

Not quite, though it would take a collapse by EWU. If it went to tiebreaker #2: EWU (10-6) has a 2 game lead over Sac St, MSU and ISU for 4th place (all 8-8). If one of those three teams passes or ties them, they would have to figure out the tie-breaker to figure out who would be the #4 seed. Of the 8-8 teams, SUU would win the tie-breaker if Sac St or Montana St was used and UND would have it if Idaho State was used. In the case of a tie for 4th, it looks like EWU went 2-0 against Sac St (good for UND), split with MSU and is currently 1-0 against ISU. UNC is technically still able to tie EWU, EWU would need to go 0-3 and UNC would have t go 3-0, which would include beating EWU and SUU. They would have a split on the season, so it would go to a tie-breaker that depends on how the top of the standings shake out.
-
UND currnetly sitting as a 7 point favorite. Thinking the final score ends with UND up by right around that.
-
1A. Head to head record. If UND loses to SUU, they will be 1-1 against each other. Move to next tiebreaker. 1B. Only applies if more than 2 teams are tied. 1C. Only applies if more than 2 teams are tied. 2. Start from the top of the standings and work your way down. Compare UND/SUU's records against what would be the #3 team (behind UND/SUU). That is currently Montana. UND and SUU are both 1-1 against them. Move to #4 team, currently EWU. Against them, UND is currently 1-0 and SUU is 1-1. If UND beats them Saturday and EWU still remains #4 overall at the end of the season, UND would win on that tiebreaker.

Also he is a JuCo guy, not a high school senior, guessing that plays some part in it.

Wild Hog gets a pretty decent crowd some nights as well.

For the 2012-2013 season, here are the rankings of the 4 Dakota schools plus the Montana schools and Minnesota for comparison. Not sure what 2013-2014 numbers look like. 33. UMinn - 3,277 36. UMont - 3,048 65. SDSU - 2,029 79. MSU - 1,644 92. UND - 1,469 127. USD - 1,094 175. NDSU - 791

Hosting the Big Sky tournament and of course winning it would go a long way into bumping up the base number of fans the women draw.

I guess I would want to leave out a niche sport that produces more revenue than your number one sport does as well if I were you.
-
Standard results? Might want to compare Hak's 10 year history with pretty much every coach outside of Jerry York and see how standard they are. It doesn't have the cherry on top, but outside of that (which is admittidly a big piece), his results far exceed standard.

Depends if NDSU tells them if it is OK to do. Though McFeely beats to his own drum and with the ratings he's had recently, he has to do something to stir the pot, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him do it. I thought Kolpack had an interseting comment in their Sunday chat that when DeHoff was hired, only female applicants were considered. If true, and with how he said he must have been pretty confident in it, how does something like that not become public information and you know, kind of a big deal? Edit:
-
Apparently you don't even get a medal for that.
-
Well that is a really inconvenient truth for some people's arguments.
-
I believe they would be named co-champions in the event of a tie, the tiebreakers are used for seeding purposes.
-
Agree that they have a good model that puts emphasis on the regular season, even if you aren't going to be the 1 seed.
