  1. An extra million? Your math is a little off. This will likely only affect single game tickets, which last I heard is somewhere around 4,000. Though it would be a cherry on top if the raised their season tickets in 2015 and 2019 and further stuck it to their own fan base, a group who we keep being told by and large don't want the game (though I don't believe it for one second). I'll give you that UND took a lower guarantee than they should have with the stipulation that the net money they receive won't be far off from what they could get elsewhere due to limited travel costs required for the game, meaning FU ended up with the savings. Bubba insisted on the game(s) and he got them. Going to be a good test to see where his defense stacks up and how far the offense has come. Being the third game of the season, most of the small kinks will hopefully be ironed out.
  2. First an unscheduled press conference to announce the games and now this: 9/12 - Weber State - $35 / $25 9/19 - North Dakota - $60 / $50 10/10 - Northern Iowa (Homecoming) - $40 / $30 10/17 - South Dakota - $35 / $25 11/7 - Western Illinois - $35 / $25 11/21 - Missouri State - $35 / $25 But remember folks, its no big deal to them, they were just filling an open date. And before the FU mensa club comes by and states they are just looking to gouge UND fans, NDSU is looking at giving Teammakers who don't have season tickets first crack at a good sized portion of single game tickets, it will be their own fans paying the "inflated" price for an unimportant out of conference game.
  3. It makes a lot more sense when looking at it that way. Basically saying his mind will be made up sooner than later and he won't string everyone along until past June 1 to see what other teams might offer him.
  4. Does it possibly provide a little insight? If he does come back, doesn't Boston lose his rights on June 1 this year? If he did come back would he really only negotiate with Boston after he graduates next year? Seems odd that he would limit himself unless he really feels some loyalty to Boston (which is very possible).

    Timing

I believe it was originally only a 30 year lease but everything else is correct (to my knowledge that part hasn't been modified). UND maintains control of the underlying land but the building itself is owned under the non-profit UND Sports Facilities Inc. There's so many misconceptions about the REA they should just put a FAQ up on their website.

    Timing

UND owns the land the REA is on along with everything in front of it from Gateway to 6th Ave except for where the fire station is. I believe they also still own the land where all the condos behind the REA are plus the Wellness Center.
  7. The issue is that as a UDFA, sometimes you have to sign while you can, especially if its a good offer. No guarantees those same offers will be there next year for a variety of reasons (performance, injury, etc). Chances are you end up in the minors somewhere, but you have a contract and a chance. Those aren't guaranteed if you come back to school.
  8. Or a couple decades. Hopefully this will keep people busy while those looking out for the best interests of the University and athletic department as a whole move on and put a new nickname in place. Still can't figure out why people don't understand that's the point we are at, regardless of how it came to be. The Fighting Sioux nickname and logo isn't coming back and the University won't be able to fully move on until a new nickname is in place.

    Hak vs Blais

Just want to point out that Izzo and Michigan St. currently have the #2 ranked recruiting class for 2015, his third top 10 class in the last 6 years. Won't argue with his ability to develop players and seemingly getting more out of those that weren't highly ranked, but he has definitely had talent as well.
  10. Not sure how I missed that one, but you are correct. Roche and Johnson played two years but both of those were under Blais.
  11. Oh this is going to be good.... Wish you would have had this turned on Thursday night!!
  12. So what are you trying to say then? Because there are some kids who come through the program who don't stay four full years, they aren't contributing? Or they aren't concerned with winning? Or UND would be better off without them? Who was the last player to only play for one year at UND? Toews, Parise, Zajac and Nelson (thanks 90siouxfan) are the only three four off the top of my head that only played two and then left for the NHL but maybe I'm missing one or two. Not sure how UND would have been better off without them. Murray and Spirko went overseas after two seasons. The majority of the schools who are regularly in the hunt, including those who have won the national title, have kids that leave early. I guess Boston would have won the national title if they wouldn't have recruited Eichel because he's only concerned about being drafted in the top two and going pro next season? In basketball and football it happens all the time with the top teams so I have a hard time buying it as a reason for the results. Still waiting for fs4l to explain his agreement on this.
  13. Would love to hear which players you think didn't put it all on the line while wearing a UND sweater. Should be easy since you both feel there are lots of them.
  14. Heard that due to being on campus, tailgating won't be a big event. Hoping they still put something together to help encourage people to come out.
  15. There was more to Rocky moving on then his on the field results but how ever you need to mold the story to help your cause.
  16. They also had down seasons that were completely different from anything Hakstol has ever had.
  17. And before the went on their recent run, they were on a 21 year title drought.
  18. The Betty has this for basketball teams. Execution is slightly lacking since they didn't redo the banners to be uniform, they just used the original ones so it looks a little sloppy. I am in favor of the idea though, especially since the new ones at the REA will vary from the ones currently hanging.
  19. I'm confused how a new nickname would take away pride, tradition and history? I guess I associate all those with the University of North Dakota, not whatever nickname or logo they happened to be going by or wearing at the time. Did UND have to start from scratch each time they changed their nickname or logo in the past?
  20. Is it because outside of Jerry York, no other coach has been able to get their team to the Frozen Four at even close to the same pace? Criticize Hak's Frozen Four record but ignore the frequency that he has got UND to that point? Seems odd.
  21. You are the one claiming that some fans are somehow "settling" because they are enjoying the success that they have had even though it doesn't including winning a national championship.
  22. Who's settling? One can be disappointed that the team hasn't won a national championship while enjoying what they have accomplished. It isn't one or the other despite what you seem to keep insisting.
  23. They have started pouring concrete for the floor. After that is completed, the turf will go in, followed by the track. I believe they are hoping to have the concrete portion completed in the next few weeks.
  24. Lots of comments on other people's excuses but nothing on gfhockey not being able to convert in a big game GDT.
  25. To me it seems that the underlying assumption has more than proven true. Attendance at any hockey game that UND has played in this year is pretty clear evidence. And don't be dazzled by the words on the page? They seem to spell out pretty clearly the steps pretty clearly, seems that you are reading much deeper into something that isn't there. If the NCAA decides tells UND they are in violation of the settlement agreement of either getting tribal approval or moving to a new nickname, therefore they are now subject to agreed upon sanctions, UND doesn't have a leg to stand on. The NCAA doesn't have to sue to place agreed upon sanctions on UND. The NCAA doesn't need to sue, doesn't need to prove damages, the agreement already spells it all out.
