  1. When UND's Blue Key shut down, the UND Student Government was given the responsibility to be their stand-in. Faison is on record saying both sides agreed the trophy wasn't going to be played for going forward. Well it was never played for during playoffs, so there is precedence that it has only been played for during annual regular season games. And considering it is a rivalry trophy and UND fan's are told over and over again that they are no longer NDSU's rival, not sure what the point of playing for it would be.
  2. Good question. UND is no longer the Fighting Sioux but somehow groups of fans at both North Dakota D-1 Universities can't seem to figure it out. A decade plus of not playing on the gridiron yet the chants continue to show up weekly in Fargo. But "none of that !@#$ storm has anything to do with NDSU" right?
  3. I'm sure the Sioux chants (that to this day still go on) won't be heard ringing through the tailgating lots and the Fargo Loaf on game day either?
  4. Jirik and Smith are both on record saying they wish they could have played in a UND/NDSU game. Those comments came unprovoked with any questioning or prodding from anyone about the rivalry. Are you saying that the players wouldn't have rather played UND over Incarnate Word, Weber State, Ferris State, Delaware State, Robert Morris, Prairie View A&M, etc?
  5. Very, very well put. My favorite part is still the one where money is not an issue. Not like they still have $1.5 million to pay on their football renovations done a decade ago or an absolutely huge shortfall lipstick-on-a-pig BSA renovation that is now causing them to re-use wooden bleachers from the BSA and cut suites from the original plan.
  6. Not the article I expected. Well written and balanced, very much enjoyed it. I see the mensa club, including their "independent" recruiting guru/NCAA violation, wasted no time in going after Schlossman on Twitter to defend their honor. No surprise, they continue to talk themselves in circles as Schlossman shoots down every excuse they have.
  7. I'm a big fan of Coach Knauf. The guy is smart and has a an excellent pedigree from his playing days at Wisconsin. He knows what system he wants to put in place and understands the growing pains that will come with it. I think (hope) that the end of last year was seeing that start to click.
  8. Wouldn't be surprised if that ends up that is what eventually is unofficially is used if "no nickname" is chosen. People will get tired of hearing/reading Green and White, North Dakota, etc. I do agree on your sentiments of it not making much sense or working in terms of logo or being something tangible.
  9. Does that crowd actually exist? My personal opinion is that I think it is more likely to be the "no nickname"/Fighting Sioux Forever crowd as Roughriders appears to be the clear favorite among actual nicknames remaining. Torpedo that and try to split the votes.
  10. I'd say the majority of G5, let alone FCS, can't actually afford FCOA but will still offer it in some form or another. If and when they pay it, it will just require higher subsidies from somewhere. The G5 is also staring down a big cut in their funding from a split in the P5/G5 as their TV revenue will be slashed when something happens.
  11. Send him the urban dictionary link for that so that its an equal comparison...
  12. Weird how when it happens to any other team, it is considered "part of the game". It happens to NDSU, it is nothing but "horribly bad luck".
  13. One of the two quotes is from someone who was selected to represent a group of stakeholders. My guess is that person's quote (and thought process) carries some weight in the decision making process....just saying.
  14. "Now I think is the time for some courage and the popular choice based on what was submitted during April, obviously to all of us, if you look at numbers, is 'North Dakota,' but popular isn't always the right choice" - Lowell Schweigert
  15. UND continue to recruit Iowa hard though not real surprising with the ties Jones and Horner have to the state. Wonder how much of an effect Ahelegbe going to USD will have on Minnesota recruiting overall.

    2015 season

I meant it a little tongue in cheek. Definitely is a professional and looks out for what is best for his student athletes first but I'd guess deep down inside, it has to give him a little pain. Nothing terribly reliable, but I heard he was quite high on Lawrence and was disappointed he didn't end up across the river instead of up it 75 miles.

    2015 season

Who is by no means a fan of UND...
  18. South Carolina is definitely closer to Fargo than Florida but I guess it only takes making the playoffs once since 2006 to be considered a good program? Or maybe its their record of 25-34 over the last 5 years. Interesting definition I guess.
  19. So what you're saying is you're going to keep it as vague as you can because you're just trolling. The numbers are what they are, but keep moving the goal posts. Can you name which offenses UND played against that played the spread? NDSU gave up 66, 68 and 99 to Weber, Montana and Missouri State respectively. UND gave up 41, 42 and 235 to those same three. The Missouri State game has already been discussed and was a train wreck in multiple different ways. UND held the other two to less yards rushing than NDSU did. Where are the goal posts off to now?
  20. Since you're so good citing stats when they are convenient for you, surprised you didn't take the time to look it up. Big Sky as a whole averaged 177.38 yard/game rushing (4.63 yard/carry). MVFC as a whole averaged 176.33 (4.62 yard/carry). As long as we're touching on it, as a whole, UND's opponents averaged 156 yards rushing per game on the season. UND gave up an average of 91 yards rushing per game, holding 10 out of 12 opponents below their season average. NDSU's opponents averaged 152 yards rushing per game on the season. NDSU gave up an average of 109, holding 10 of 12 below their season average (regular season only).
  21. I'm not sure what the deal with USD is. UNO is in a good location and can be a little more choosy than everyone else, they have had a pretty solid schedule the last few years. Don't know why SDSU fell off this year?
  22. Per SFI: It appears Winnipeg recruit Zack Williams will not be joining the team this fall.
  23. Did you manage to get in every cliché and/or talking point the mensa club has? At least try to come up with something original instead of repeating the same old song and dance. You'd think between the whole collective of the 2011 Bison Alumni, at least someone could come up with something original...
