Good point Smoggy. According to USCHO, backup for DU played 9 games last year. Johnson for UM has 1 game so far this year. I have to admit that I didn't think goaltending would be Minny's strong point but Briggs has been solid.

CC beat UM 3-2 in overtime. Tigers badly outshot the Gophers and really outplayed them. Sertich got the game winner in OT. Briggs looked pretty damn good for the Gophers.

Schneider is a solid defenseman and fine team leader. Hakstol is a good coach. Lammy is fantastic. Parise is solid. Brandt should get some playing time. Goaltending on this team is a big strength. The scoring will come around. .500 hockey to start the year playing 5 nationally ranked teams ain't bad. The Sioux will be in the hunt come March. The sky is not falling. The Gophers still suck. Let me know if there are any other nagging questions that need to be cleared up.

Are you kidding me? Were you at the game last night? Parise was fighting the puck all night. All 3 goals should have been stopped, especially the 2nd and 3rd which resulted from rebounds. On the 1st, he overskated the puck and got handcuffed. He also had one trickle through his pads that Bina saved, and another disallowed because there was a man in the crease. We will not win many close games with goaltending like that. Even Tim Hennessy and his new partner said on the radio after the game that Jordan gave up 3 soft goals, and Hakstol agreed that he did not have a good night. Parise is now 2-3-1, and did not play well against Minnesota or CC. It is time to either give Brandt a chance (his reward for winning 3-1 in Maine is not dressing) or going with Lamoureaux.
