Are you sure that is still the rule. Seem to recall Omaha getting screwed on an OT goal in the tourney a few years back where you could not see the puck cross the goal line but it was called a goal anyway.

I'm glad someone else confirmed this. I watched the live streaming yesterday and was shocked at the lack of attendance. The tournaments in the early 80's when I was in HS were jammed packed. Off course that was the old Ralph but I can't imagine they had more than a couple thousand people at yesterdays games.

If they are just going to even things up then don't call the first fricken penalty. US was the better 4 on 4 team in the first few minutes of OT. The Canadian goalie made a couple of huge saves. You are right in that the bad pass coupled with the bad change lead to the second penalty. In hindsight I would have almost rather took my chances on a penalty shot in that situation that face a long 4 on 3 PP. Great line by Doc Emrick in the medal ceremony -- that the Silver medal is going to seem a whole lot heavier than the gold even though it weighs 2 oz less. The guy is the best announcer in hockey.

Of course. My point was that the call immediately following was likely done only because the refs didn't want to see the game end on the power play. Why else to you call that other than to even things up? My opinion is that the make up call lead directly to the breakaway penalty that put Canada on the PP.

After watching all the physical play go uncalled throughout the game, the slash call on 17 in OT was just ridiculous. Changed the whole complexion of the OT. If neither penalty gets called and we are 4 on 4, no way does the Canadian player get the breakaway that results in the second penalty. Great game and hats off to Team Canada but that BS call makes it a tough pill to swallow.

Gwoz earned a lot of respect from me when he gave an interview this year and insisted on calling UND the Fighting Sioux. The regional loss in Colorado Springs and the FF loss in Columbus still sting (I was at both) but you knew it was going to be a battle every time these two teams met.

Congrats SCSU. They were the best team I saw this year. Good luck at the Frozen Four.

This game was totally different than the Michigan game for me. We dominated Michigan and deserved a better fate. Yale dominated us today and deserved the W. I am a SCSU fan for the remainder of the tourney. I hope they get it done. On to 2013-14. I'm confident we will be back in the mix. Hopefully Forbert, Simpson, and Rocco stick around. Peace out all. Believe me I understand the frustrations but the calls for Hakstol to be fired are just ridiculous, expected, but ridiculous.

One of the worst efforts I have ever witnessed from a Sioux team. Just look like they played slow all game long. Maybe Gothberg's undisclosed illness was stomach flu and every one else had it too. That is the only explanation I can find for such a lifeless effort. This one really hurt. Congrats to Yale. Good luck to the seniors. When does next year start???
