Not sure what that would accomplish. Less than half of Standing Rock lives in ND. Perhaps the settlement should have asked for majority approval of ND resident Standing Rock, but I'm quite sure it didn't.

Apples and Oranges........The difference with Football is that other programs, programs we compete with for recruits CAN host playoff games. In your example all the programs are in the same boat, no program can host. Competing football schools could and should use it against UND on the recruiting trail. I dont know what the total impact will be, but to say it wont be an issue every time we go up against NDSU or SDSU or Montana for a kid is to ignore reality.

That is correct with respect to men's hockey. However, the top four seeds for women's hockey all host NCAA playoff games. Just a clarification.

Name calling aside, the guy seems to understand that UND is on an island right now*. The NCAA doesn't have to support UND one bit (and likely wont) and quite frankly neither does the Legislature or the Governor now that they have put pen to paper on the nickname legislation. UND is boxed in and some getting some clarification as to who will be in UND's boat seems prudent. * Yes, yes I know its his fault.

IMO, he's not concerned about membership, hes concerned about whether UND and the NCAA will work together to navigate post-legislation waters or be stonewalled by the NCAA's "its your problem not ours" attitude.

Oh man, are we sure this meeting should happen at all? For it to happen, it might involve an airplane ride for a state employee. The thought of that is just.............its just too much to bear.

With a little research, I think you would find that UND has the same number of conference titles, more wins and a higher winning percentage all time than NDSU.

It looks like quite the opposite. In my view it is a very smart move. If all the ND players agree to participate, this development should be welcomed by nickname supporters and not mocked. I should note that vandalism is not "LOL." Though I would hope it goes without saying.

It could be worse, the defending FCS National Champion only has 4 home games this fall.

If the NCAA is comfortable with 5-7000 per regional, UND should bid using Scheels arena.

All joking aside, no I wouldnt be surprised. I doubt I have posted clearly in favor of the current path. However, I have never said it cant work. But, I'm pretty cynical. I'm cynical about the NCAA and their targeting of UND in light of FSU and Utah. I'm cynical about the policy/lawsuit/settlement process and why 3 extremely popular politicians (Hoeven, Conrad, Dorgan) did nothing. I'm cynical about legislators with an agenda. I'm cynical about dysfunctional tribal leadership. I'm cynical about email campaigns. I'm cynical about someone dumping manure on a SBOHE member's lawn. The whole thing sucks. In my view, for any number of reasons this ship has sailed. As I've posted before, I have no reason to believe the NCAA or Standing Rock will bend. So, I worry about damage done to UND as this process goes along. You should be too. That doesnt make me a doomsdayer or a chicken little. It makes me a realist. You wont believe me, but I do hope you get to say I told you so.

You keep a list of people that don't share your views exactly? I'm glad this isn't a high school. Otherwise, you would be pulled from class and we'd all have to use mesh backpacks for the rest of the year.

Passion for the nickname? So what? Do you think the NCAA would've settled for a one tribe approval if Faison and Kelly were more passionate? You may feel better if they vocalized your views, but it would change nothing with our athletic regulator.

This implies that the ND population has an informed opinion about higher ed. Outside the current nickname battle, 95% of North Dakotans dont know a damned thing about the issues facing higher ed.

My concern with MSUM is their history. I've lived in FM most of my life and I have seen nothing from the MSUM Admin, Faculty, Student Body or Alumni that would make me think they can be an asset to college hockey or the WCHA.
