University of North Dakota Hockey 2014-15 season
siouxforce19 replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Same here. I was angry about Friday, but not that they lost - it was how they lost. If anyone wasn't upset about Friday, I'd be concerned. Saturday was encouraging to see them put Friday behind them and play like they needed to. -
So I hope the high school kid bashing me on Twitter for being angry about the game doesn't come on this site.

I waited in line for hours waiting to get in with a super bad cold. The cold didn't bother me because I was overheated due to my cold. To this day I still run into the other diehards at road games that waited on line also. And it's still "hey! I know you!" It's too bad that the passion isn't as widespread as it used to be, and I don't feel like I'm too far out of college. (Graduated in 09). I have heard student attendance at all college sporting events is slipping nationwide so I wonder what can be done, if anything, to curb that. -

I'm in favor of any ticket policy that gets the drunk girls that know nothing about hockey out of the front row. Or I would be if I was still in school! Ha. -
UND forward lines: O'Donnell-MacMillan-Parks | Pattyn-Gaarder-Murphy | Caggiula-Johnson-Schmaltz | Chzyk-Sanderson-Poganski UND defense pairings: LaDue-Schmaltz | Mattson-Stecher | Ausmus-Poolman | Thompson-Panzarella | Goalies: McIntyre-Johnson-Hrynkiw St Clair is the extra forward.
-
I think Caggiula will have a big year, but I'm on the fence on the kind of production Johnson and Schmaltz will have, as like you said, Schmaltz is a wild card and IMO Johnson had kind of an up and down year last year, which isn't out of the ordinary for a freshman. I'm looking forward to seeing if he can take another step forward. MacMillan-Parks-OD combined for more than 70 points last year and neither of them were healthy at the same time. I see them as the most productive because they've played together for parts of the last 3 years, so there is a familiarity that Caggiula-Johnson-Schmaltz don't have quite yet. That said, I think most of us agree that these are the 6 guys we expected in our top 6.
-
Yeah I'm gonna disagree on that one. I definitely don't see the Schmaltz line out scoring a line of 3 seniors.

IMO, MacMillan and Parks are the leading offensive catalysts of this team. When they're going, things tend to go well for this team. I remember the opener at Miami last year when all the talk was about Miami's big forwards and then those two and OD just outright dominated. If those three are healthy and productive, I like this team's offensive potential this year. But generally, I like the depth on our forward lines that we have the ability to put out there on a nightly basis. -

I was wondering if someone was going to post that trash article. Of course it's just my opinion that thinks it was trash -

On Fridays, I parked in the Walsh Hall loading zone. Only had one class. Fooled those parking nazis good. -

They won't make the FF. They will lose to Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana in the Midwest Regional. -

I have to drink beer during hockey games. Team does better when I do. And I'm all for being a team player. ...and I like beer. -

I'm going with a group of 4... We just don't have tickets yet lol. -
If he played for the US U17 team, he's one of the better players in his age group, so he's no slouch either.
-
Actually, UMD applied as well. But obviously Amsoil isn't a neutral site either so Fargo won.
-
And it definitely won't be the last. They talk about things I say all the time on GPL without ever discussing it with me personally. It's common.
-
I'm not shocked, but agree about the extra year of juniors. But I'd say we need the size up front as well.

Trevor Olson took summer classes last year also and went back to juniors so Wilkie could be doing the same thing. You'd have to take quite a bit of classes to start the proverbial "clock." Summer school selection doesn't really allow a heavy load. -

With pretty much the same team coming back (with just a few personnel losses) I'd say it's safe to assume the players already know who the leaders are. No need to delay a formality here. Just my 2 cents. -

From what I gather, Gersich played more of a defensive role at the NTDP this year. Third line, like you said. I'd prefer another year of juniors as well, but if he comes in the fall, I won't complain either. Always nice to add a guy with some speed. -
A tender is like a free agent signing. They are players that haven't been drafted that a team decides they'd rather not take the chance they would be available when they would be drafting, so they get the player to sign a tender. I've heard that if a team tenders a player they give up a first round draft pick, but not sure on the complete process. Most tenders I've seen are younger players in their first year of USHL draft eligibility.

They should all do one of those obstacle course races in the off season to prepare for these kind of situations! -
I will debate that strength of schedule argument until I'm blue in the face. I did not find our schedule weak at all.
