  1. If you don't care about hockey...get off the hockey board!!! We welcome opinions from people who know about the game of hockey, i.e., the Gopher fans, if you have nothing intelligent to say....please don't post (Don't bring up siouxrock, we know he does the same thing).
  2. Roche vs. Hauser a wash...not even, I would much rather have Travis than Hauser any day, objectively. The others though I agree are a wash I know one NDSU student who knows something about hockey. That's it....NDSUCKS needs to put more emphasis on how the helll their going to compete at the division 1 FOOTBALL level, instead of worrying about how the Sioux's HOCKEY season went. Their own coach didn't wasnt to stick around for next year, he was so embarrased. My hatred for the Bison runs extrememly deep and I will NEVER cheer for them EVER. Bison, Bison, Bison.....SUCK $H!T
  3. Hit it on the head...It's LeNeveu or Sejna...the Ferris fans seem to be in denial over Kunitz being a dirty player. I think both are deserving, but Sejna will win the award. He leads the NCAA in scoring and is just about the smartest player I have ever seen. He is dangerous EVERY time he touches the puck and has mastered the art of the bad angle shot. At the same time good defense or not LeNeveu's numbers are insane. He doesn't face a lot of shots, but stops them when he does. His job is to stop the first shot, he does that, then his defense clears the zone. I don't think he should be denied the Hobey because he happens to have a steller defense and play in the ECAC. The best way to settle this is, as Sic said, a penalty shot. Sejna scores, he wins the Hobey, if LeNeveu makes the save, it's all his. Either way who wouldn't watch it.
  4. I think your top three next year in the WCHA will be Minnesota, UND, Mankato....in that order. Duluth will certainly be close behind and so will CC, Denver, St. Cloud, and possibly Wisconsin. To listen to the Duluth fans on USCHO...they're winning the whole thing next year. That team doesn't have a ton of depth not to mention they've lost Francisco and Rob Anderson. Francisco was by far their best player this year, and Anderson was pretty solid betwen the pipes. TJ Caig's production will be up, but so might his penalty minutes. But, this is just my opinion, there's been a lot of good arguements on this thread so far.
  5. He said that an awful lot last year. Sags has got to be one the best commentators in college hockey. He's another one of these guys who can admit to his team not playing well and getting away with penalties. He is a homer, but to be fair (same thing with Woog and Mazzocco), he did play at Wisconsin. jk, I do have to disagree with you a little on the lines, I think that Prpich will be up with Lundbohm and Fylling, and Stafford or Porter will be up on the third with Massen and Hale or McMahon, IMO. Either way I think we will have a very deep team next year. You have to like the way our team looks with Massen and Hale on third line.
  6. ahahahahaha...oh wait, that's not funny No, I did not move to Dallas, I am a former North Star fan from the Twin Cities, that has been real nostalgic since coming to UND. If you've tried to offend me or piss me off...didn't work Just remember being a Sioux fan...SiouxHockeyLover has my back...you don't want to piss her off Keep it up girl
  7. People, people,people...Yes Vanek was a true freshman, but he DID have a year of juniors. This makes a lot of difference. Vanek's extra year on Parise was spent playing in an environment more like Div. 1 College hockey. Shattuck plays teams from all over. They are NOT part of the Minnesota State High School League. But, these teams are no where near the quality players that play in juniors. Let's just agree that neither team would trade their star freshman for the other's. Plus, to come in the league at 8 years old and score 61 points...Amazing, I wish I was that good when I was 8!!!
  8. Don't forget about Nok Hockey!!!!...The wooden puck, with the small sticks, and you take turns trying to score...you couldn't touch me at that game. I played all the time down at the park where I grew up in the summer...As a matter of fact, I believe I am still the reigning champion, as nobody ever dethroned me However, there is nothing wrong with lever and bubble hockey
  9. Trust him...if there is a cheap fare out there, he knows where to find it. Fly to MSP...you don't want to take the chance of having to fly in the SAAB on the trip here (The prop-job that flies up here), plus it IS cheaper. I'm sure flatspin just forgot, but I'll say it for him...fly on Continental Flatspin you know I have to do it. ROLOSON FOR VEZINA....GO Wild!!!
  10. You want to know why Duluth didn't make the tournament and the Sioux and St. Cloud did. Strength of Schedule. When you play teams like RPI and Notre Dame for Non-Conference games, your strength of schedule takes a hit (Keep in mind...we played Michigan). I'm not saying our sos was much better, but it WAS better along with St. Cloud's. Their record was just good enough to beat Duluth in the Pairwise, while our's was just better. And to say the Sioux didn't have a chance...well, the Sioux ALWAYS have a chance to beat whomever they play. Think about it, we've beaten two of the teams that are in the Frozen Four. Michigan on neutral ice and Minnesota AT Mariucci (which is more than difficult). Duluth caught us during our late season slide (no, I'm not making excuses) and bested us 2 out of three games. Who's to say who was the better team because at the same time, while we handled Wisconsin at the Kohl Center, Duluth lost to them in OT. Congrats on winning your bet, but it was not one I personally would have made. Nothing is ever for certain in the WCHA, any team can beat any team, at any time (Alaska's the exception that proves the rule).
  11. And that's what they say when someone gets a penalty...I've finally figured it out!!!
  12. I saw this at USCHO.com, and thought it was interesting I think a skills competition would be great. There is one before the Minnesota State High School Hockey tournament, as well as the NHL All-Star game.
  13. Finalist....yes, Win it???.....snowball's chance in hell. He wasn't the impact player that Sejna, Preissing, or Eaves was. But, he will be.
  14. Good, he's smart enough to realize he's not ready for the NHL quite yet
  15. Absolutely not...Bradt was having a phenomenal game, IMO he was in the zone, the first two Ferris goals were some of the most beutiful tips I have ever seen in my hockey career. If neither was tipped, the first missed the net, and Brandt makes the save on the other. I've seen Patrick Roy and Dominik Hasek let thos by. As far as the 3rd goal, he maybe committed a little early, but that is a tough call for a goaltender to make and iI think Legue (or was it Nesbitt?) hesitated just long enough to fool him. The back breaker for the Sioux was that goal let in by Siembida. Yes, the D should have helped him out a lot more, but at the same time, he had a clear view of the shot, he needed to stay on his feet. Don't forget that teams play differently when they're down by 1 goal then when they are down by two. I don't fault Josh for the loss, all I'm saying is that Brandt should have been left in, it's never a good idea to replace your goalie when he is playing well, especially since Siembida had been sitting on the bench cold for the last two periods.
  16. It's simple...we didn't bury the puck. Goaltending was a bit of a factor, but for the most part, we hit too many posts and missed too many open nets in the second half of the season. When you out shoot your opponent by over 30 shots and still lose the game......something's amiss Youth has a little bit to do with this, but is even less of a factor than goaltending. This is a long season, and it takes it's toll on the fr. and so.'s. Remember, the sophomores played about 2 weeks longer than they did last year.
  17. I don't think we should give up on Connelly just yet. Don't forget he missed a lot of last year due to a shoulder injury. I like his hustle and work ethic and I think he will produce next year, he reminds me a little of Theo Fleury, he wants the puck and he has a ton of potential. Canady doesn't seem to care about the puck to much, he's a checking forward. He's the guy doing the dirty work along the corners, getting the scorer's the puck. I think they both will have better seasons next year. As far as the Shattuck boys go...not very many bad players come out of that school
  18. I know I don't have to tell you this, but we ARE in for some good... no, let me rephrase, GREAT... OLD TIME HOCKEY. The biggest margin of victory in these games should only be 2 goals (I'm allowing for the ENG when the losing team has their goalie pulled).
  19. I have to say that I believe we had a good season, it wasn't a great season, but just a good one. NorthDakotaHockey hit the nail right on the head, while are season wasn't great, the tradition and pride still lives on and I believe that the Sioux have the greatest tradition in the WCHA. All the players, coaches and fans deserve a tremendous amount of respect, and they have it from me. Good Luck to the Sioux next season...You know I'll be there!!
  20. I will be cheering for the Gophers...although my previous post makes it seem like I want Michigan, I answeared the question as to who I THOUGHT would win it, which is Michigan, but my WCHA allegence, plus my former "team" so to speak, says I would like to see the WCHA take home 3 titles in the last 4 years. flatspin remember what happened the last time we watched the same game and cheered for different teams (2001 Stanley Cup Finals Avs-Devils Game 7) ???MY team won so my advice is to cheer for the Gophers because if I am there...they WILL win C'mon....EVERYBODY's doing it (a little good old fashioned peer pressure). Either way...we are in for some great games
  21. I have to say I completlely agree with you...nice to know I can still make comments like that without being taken seriously...flatspin will back me up, his girlfriend hated some of the sexist comments I made until she learned they were only jokes, and not to be taken seriously at all
  22. I think we should just sign Al MacInnes... On a more serious note...ScottM is right. During my Freshman year (00-01), I just KNEW when the Sioux were about to score, especially at the Final Five against St. Cloud St., I had a feeling before each goal when we cameback that it was going in...We need that style of play back, along with another Panzer-Bayda-Lundbohm line. While I don't know this for sure yet, this line could possibly be Bochenski-Parise-Murray?
  23. Did you happen to see the Minnesota State-Cornell game?...Cornell played the possession game extremely well. The puck seemed to be in the Mavs zone the majority of the game. Remember this IS tournament time and ANYhting can happen. This is why I think that Red Berensen's team will step it up a notch. They know that the rest of the world thinks that the only reason they beat CC was because it was at home (keep in mind, I am one of those people). They have something to prove, and I believe that they are capapble of proving it. Jed Ortmeyer, Jeff Tambellini, and Eric Nystrom have been underrated all year. I think this will be a great game...Minnesota has the better offense hands down, but Michigan has the better goaltending. It's Al Montoya vs. Potulny, Vanek, Guyer and Riddle. While this may sound like advantage Minnesota, the UND-Ferris game was touted as Mike Brown vs. Parise, Bochenski, Spiewak, and Notermann, Brown came out on top.
