    Is it still 28-7?
  6. Yeah I didn't notice this was in the SDSU thread until after I posted, I thought I was in the NDSU thread, my fault.
  7. NDSU's offense can't be considered a juggernaut, they are comparable to the offenses Baltimore had when their defense was in it's prime...play great defense and win the field position battle, pound the ball down peoples throats and throw when you have to or to keep them honest. There's been better offenses in FCS than NDSU but no better defense by far, and they've built their team as such. They don't need to throw the ball around or use gadget plays, if they don't get a first down...screw it, we'll get it back in a minute anyway. Every team wishes they had that option.
  8. Offense: Peterson will run for 1500-1700 yards Jennings will be a solid receiver and give them a legit downfield target Patterson will be used in the Harvin role and will provide some big plays and will not be on the injury report every single week Simpson will catch some balls until he gets hurt Rudolph will keep improving his numbers over last year, would probably be a top TE with a better QB Ponder will slightly improve his numbers because he will have better weapons on the field and everybody will stack the line because they are scared to death of Peterson Ponder will still not be able to throw an accurate pass over 15 yards Walsh will score a lot of points with his big leg Defense: Line play will be decent, Allen is healthy this year and Williams will be rotating with Floyd to keep him fresher in early down/short yardage situations Linebackers will be above average, depth is a question Secondary looks very iffy, I can see them getting torched be the QB's in the North, if any of the starters go down it's going to be ugly unless the young guys are better than expected The new punter has looked good in the preseason Overall I would say this is a .500 team unless Ponder improves his downfield accuracy and the secondary plays much better than they have in the preseason. The way it looks now they will score more points than last year but will also give up more points than last year. That's my unbiased assessment from a lifetime Vikings fan.

Wow it appears I've missed a lot this summer, looks like never-coming-back DaveK was indeed back ranting the entire NHL playoffs too. I'm never around when the good stuff happens.

Yeah that looks like it got out of hand, almost Lakes-like at the end.

Yeah Jim like Goon said that isn't available because the member is inactive, not a big deal I was just curious because watchmaker was a constant pot-stirrer and there was some entertainment value when he was annoying others, too bad the sun and chlorine clouded his mind even further.

I was gone for quite a while, what thread finally did watchmaker in?
  13. Reminds me of another very talented cocky arrogant know-it-all jackass drafted by the Chargers #1 from my neck of the woods, and we all know how that turned out.

If they could beat those 4 teams they will be a solid #2 on every ballot, a more realistic goal would be 2 of those 4 plus Idaho State for a 4-2 start, with the schedule getting friendlier the second half that should translate into a playoff berth. I think the SDSU game is huge for momentum before hitting the 3 BSC teams.
  15. I thought it was a little high too, 5 or 6 sounds right at GF but that's what 5dimes is quoting I guess.
  16. They need the biggest and loudest crowd in years for this game without a doubt, being 9 point dogs at home is hard enough but if the crowd isn't jacked from the onset it will help SDSU settle in early which could be bad.
  17. Thank God finally the voice of reason hits. You climb 2 rungs on my "ladder of sanity" As far as the game this weekend it looks like SDSU's pass defense vs. UND's run defense...I think it's safe to say high anxiety for UND fans.
  18. OK I'll play. So you're saying I'm wrong that NDSU could not be competitive in a major FBS conference for a full season. Which one could they earn a playoff berth in (or Bowl berth I guess)?
  19. Yeah you're right, you could probably beat anybody except Alabama and Ohio State. I don't know what I was thinking.

I think you're spot on, no reason to show anything special on either side of the ball against that caliber opponent, play straight up and save everything past page 2 of the playbook for the real competition.

I didn't realize 4 of the next 5 games were against SDSU, Montana, Rodeo U, and EWU...holy crap that is brutal even at home. If they could come out of that mess 4-2 they would be be in good shape for a playoff run, 3-3 would make it tougher but still possible. This will be a big weekend to see where the defense is at.
  22. They're as good a FCS team as any the last 20 years but let's keep this in perspective, they couldn't compete in any major FBS conference because of three things...size, speed, and most importantly depth...they would get worn down by good teams. That doesn't take anything away from the product they are putting on the field now, it is impressive, but thinking they could play a full season in a major conference is asinine. I saw the quote from the NDSU fan who thought it would be fun to have the two champions play at the end of the year, I bet Bohl doesn't share that thought. You think they kicked Notre Dames ass? This would be horrific.
  23. Good to see Manziel learned his lesson this offseason Is it wrong that I'd like to see him get knocked out by a blitzing LB? (I don't think I'm alone)
