I believe the difference will be between having a great turnout on Saturday on not having one will be 1- students. They have been nothing short of dissapointing far more times than they have been impressive. If we get a numerous, strong, active, and vocal student body at the game on Saturday that will go a long ways. Secondly, the general public in Grand Forks. Those that only attend a game or 2 a year, that are not season ticket holders or regulars. If they come out then that will be huge. I know both myself and neighbor who are season ticketholders both received calls from the Athletics department last night and the night prior. They don't have to worry about us as we both intend to go and use all our tickets but, it's how we get the periphery fan and student that will make a difference. Considering I've suffered through some less than get you excited oppenents in recent years, including this year. I'm certainly not going to miss a game where there is something on the line and it's a good opponent. I hope people look at it that way. If you've been using the excuse of not going recently because you say "the team doesn't play for anything" or "that they have been playing the Sisters of the Poor" ... that excuse goes right out the window for this game. We are playing for something and it's a good opponent. See you Saturday. Beat the Yotes!

You schedule whoever you can whenever you can- when it comes to life in the Great West. I'm actually pleased with playing SDSU twice- it's not ideal that it's twice in 5 days but I think the Jacks should be pretty good this year, so I think it will be beneficial for us to play a good competitive opponent twice. It will be good to play Idaho State in their building just to get a feel for it and see a Big Sky team for the 2nd time in a year and what kind of adjustments they'll make in the 2nd meeting. We don't meet them twice this season but we do return the back end of the home and home with Sac St. Which gives us another look at them in the Big Sky as well. If indeed it's true about Huff and a tweet, I hope that he can move on and mature a little bit. I hope he is able to realize that it's whole lot more fun when the jersey he is wearing is having a lot of success as opposed to wearing a jersey that is having a lousy season, but he has great numbers. Life's alot more fun when those around you and are closest to you are having a great time as well. Hopefully, he'll want to be a big part of the big picture. Because in the end everyone one wins as opposed tot he other way around.

He was out in the exhibition with flu like symptoms and for the Idaho St. game apparently came down with symptoms related to food born illness. My source, our home radio broadcasts.

Plus, again as I mentioned that Webb & Anderson on the men's thread are only sophmores- the fact that Wall is only a sophmore while Evers is a freshman is just a thrill to know what this is going to be like over the next few years. Additionally, Madi Buck went for the double-double- best player on the floor last night. Hopefully, she can be that type of a player on a more consistent basis. Again only a sophmore there too! Megan Lauck, who has been terrrible for the 1st 2 games showed at least signs of life, hopefully she can fully come around. We get here to play to her potential, this team will really have a great foundation, and be far more difficult to guard.

This team still has areas that they need to improve. But they compete and last night showed why it's extrememly important to have a lot of guys that can play. That first half the fouls mounted and we kept going to the bench, and we didn't relinquish the lead- that is a good sign. Anderson so far has been awesome. Him and Webb together so far have been a great combination, but the best part about it is that they are only sophmores. Also, Schuler, I like him. He may go a little unsung but when he is on the floor, you will get consistency. He rarely looks flustered- that calmness is a huge plus in big games.

On Saturday during the radio broadcast it was reported that Goodman had indeed had an injury setback- how big of setback was yet to be determined as he was still being evaluated. Last night it was reported that Wilmer was out with what was believed to be food born illness. If Wilmer had any luck whatsoever-- he would have no luck at all.

This is the first meeting between the 2 schools on the basketball court. We play them again out there later in the season. Idaho St. played Oklahoma tough on Friday night. They led by 10 at one point in the 1st half then lost by 4. This will be a big elevation in competition from Minot St. and Waldorf. I'm curious to see how it goes.

I thought we only lost the rebound battle by 2?

So let me get this straight. This amendment will not allow us to gain a new nickname for 3 years. Ok how did they come up with that number? That seems very arbitrary to me? It may be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. I can't stop laughing at this its so beyond stupid. As if there is a prescribed amount of time that will automatically transpire and all of a sudden we can get a new nickname? Some people will not be ready 20 years from now. Some will be ready next year. I've been on record as saying the sooner the bettter. There's no sense on trying to keep the bandaid on. It's going to hurt no matter when it comes off. But honestly, who are these people who came up with this number of 3 years? How in the world did they get to it? Is it a message from god? "3 years from now- it will be ok to get a new nickname" If anything it just goes to show how moronic our elected officials in ND are. Wow. Whatever, it is- this is very funny.

I can agree with this. Very well laid out. -

I'm also in agreement. I heard way too much of the 6th win crud coming from both players and coaches coming into the game and after the game. I happen to feel that it was a smoke screen to gloss over a potential abysmal performance and then once that performance occurred- they already had it in place to use after said performance. -
From today's Strib http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/133207458.html My goodness why is everyone that ever plays us such drama queens. Bjugstad "he was choking me" Waaah. Honestly, grow a pair if you're going to play in the big boy game consider this-- no one is innocent in a rivalry.

Guess after reading the article- it sounds if UND did everything they could possibly do. Hmmm- very quick to point the finger aren't we?

Also heard on the post-game on drive home that Smart, Lauck, Rothfusz, & Buck combined to go 4 of 20. Yikes.

All I'm going to say is that we have a lot of work to do. Creighton, could come in and really get after us if we play like we did last night. We better be able to hit shots from the outside or teams are going to pack it in against Wall and Evers. Very impressed with Evers- it's 1 game but she is looking like she could be far more than a contributors role and into a featured role if she keeps improving from what she showed last night.

There is no doubt replacing Smed & Trefz, Bohannen, and Russel will be difficult. They have all been tremendous in different areas. But from what I've seen, the cupboard isn't going to be bare. I like Robinson, she already hits as hard as Smed or Trefz, plus like Smed she'll start in back to dig out a serve or attack. Ulrich has good upside as an outside hitter. Munkeby will have another year under her belt. There are pieces that I'm very encouraged about that we wouldn't see too much of a drop off. But yes, it will be tough to see those seniors move on, because they've really been a part of something special.

Wilmer didn't play- I asked Paul, the radio guy where he was- and was told he didn't make the trip because he had caught a bit of a bug. Antwi, although it wasn't a blow your mind performance, I can see him being a solid addition to our guard play. At times I thought maybe he was going a little too fast, being his first game, in fact when he went to the line and missed a free throw you heard the Sioux coaches from the bench yell "slow dow" he pured the next one. I like his stroke and he moves quickly and fluidly. By fluidly I mean with ease, and with no wasted movement. Very smooth- as he begins to see more floor I think he will settle in nicely. It appears to me that the Sioux will have him as a more off the ball guard and let Webb and Anderson bring the ball up the floor. One area we need to continue to work on is post entry- getting the ball into the post in positions where those guys can score. Recognizing it a little faster then the execution. There were some very good post entries but a couple not so good as well. Part of the interior's success is getting them the ball in the right places with the right spacing on the floor to let those guys go to work.

I was at the game and would have to agree with Goodman's play. Very impressive. That gives us more depth. I also thought Allard does what he always does- pick his moments offensively. Play well defensively. I'm really liking him because he brings consistency. We didn't board the ball well defensively in the 1st half, but this is game 1. Saw alot of different combinations of players on the floor in the second half. That may have contributed as to why we didn't win by more, but I understand why the staff kept rotating players-to see who played well together. I thought Gentry is really raw. Very Athletic but needs polish. I think by next year or the year after he could really be quite difficult to handle. Huff- well his dunk was just awesome and I think he was victim of a few non calls in the 2nd Half or his game would have been even better. I thought Webb was kind of missing in the 1st half, but for the 2nd half he controlled things and scored 10 points. Anderson continues to impress with his play throughout. There is some promise with this team, but there is still a ways to go.

Why is it a basketball players vs. hockey players issue? Or a football players vs. hockey players issue? I am willing to bet that those in-charge of trying to get him cleared at UND multiple times originally and probably through appeals worked their tails off to get him elgible. Don't disagree that the NCAA is not always good, but if you plan on playing college sports you better familiarize yourself on what it's going to take to be elgible. There can't be any guessing or hoping that it will be good enough. As a person and the persons family had better know-there has got to be some personal accountability here.

He is indeed a Freshman at UND- older like Webb was when he came in. Vanier is a Canadian school, I'm not sure on how the Canada system is there but apparently it's a little different so he is a freshman like Webb was. Wilmer is a very big key- agreed. The key from him is productive minutes every time he steps on the floor- how many shots does alter or block? How many touches does he get on the block? Little things with just enough scoring could prove large.

Sioux cruised past UTPA last night at home. Coach Hardee emptied his bench early and often. Last night in a battle of other 1 loss teams in the conference- Utah Valley beat Houston Baptist, in Orem. Houston Baptist had previously beaten Utah Valley. HBU comes in on Saturday afternoon to The Betty and now having picked up their 2nd loss in conference play- you just know they are going to play desperate. We've got to come to play so we can set up that showdown with Utah Valley in a week and a half. Hope to see us have a big Saturday afternoon crowd- to again cheer on these ladies who are once again representing the school and state well by having an outstanding season. It's the last home contest before we host the Great West Conference tournament in November. Go Sioux! Beat the Huskies on Saturday!
