flippable comparisons that could go in our direction:
bc-we pass them in rpi we win this comparison
du-outside shot at rpi or if we face them again at the final five and beat them we win this comparison
miami-rpi and TUC could both go our way
duluth-pass them in rpi and we win this one
nh-pass them in rpi and we win this one
ohio state-could pass them in rpi and when they play 10 games gainst TUC we will win this comparison
princeton-outside shot at rpi
this just goes to show how fluid the pwr are right now and will be up until the title game at the x is played in mid-march. as long as we keep taking care of our business things will go our way. no need to panic just because we didn't move at all in the pwr this weekend. I was told at one time that the pwr were not meant to be looked at until the season was over as they are just a snapshot of what is occuring in the season at any particular moment.
bottom line is Jim is correct. there are a lot of comparisons that can be flipped. the biggest thing that will flip those is our rpi. as long as we keep on winning our rpi will go up and therefore comparisons will be flipped. we also still have at least 6 games left with TUC teams and if we go 5-1 or 4-2 that will help us as well. there is no need to panic yet as there is a lot of season left. we have put ourselves into a position where we can make the tourney if we take care of our business. in the last three weeks I think we've moves up 13-15 spots. just keep winning and that stuff will take care of itself. I said this two months ago, I think when it is all said and we will be in the top 10 in the PWR.
I would bet my house on the fact that there will be no retroactive forfeit of this. the NCAA doesn't have the balls to that. plus it would benefit UND which the NCAA isn't a very big fan of right now.
I'm not all that surprised we didn't come out with the "jump" we've seen the last three home games last night. I was actually surprised we did it against the gophers both nights. these kids are human and it is not humanly possible to come out with extreme high emotions every single night. DU did out play us last night and out work us. but bottom line is we got a point and are in second place all by ourselves 1 point out of first. a very good weekend overall.
the W tonight is the most important thing. I say let Denver try and goon it up and we just walk away. that will drive them more nuts. then once we have the game in hand()hopefully) we take care of the other crap.
other than knowing the exact formula that goes into the rpi and how it is figured out I'm not sure why people say the pwr rankings are so confusing to figure out. they are pretty simple. match up each team and see who wins the most catagories.
with as fluid as the pwr rankings are right now take this with a grain of salt but, with maine's tie with providence today we moved into a tie for 14th with BC.
