  1. I thought they had a shootout last year and the gophers lost to like air force or something like that?
  2. I've been reading on a few different sites, this one included as to how people are disappointed with the sweep because we didn't win each game 10-0. now I've been as critical of this team as much as anyone but having watched both games in person I can tell you the sioux came a way with a couple of very hard earned wins and especially on saturday night we could have had 3-5 more goals if a few bounces would have gone our way-but the bottom line is we won without getting those bounces. it is much nicer to win without getting bounces than losing without having any puck luck. BSU is a good team, not great but good and they will give several major conference teams fits down the road this year. I'm going to take a page from Goon's book and rip on AirForce for a second in that BSU does it the right way and they have scheduled several WCHA teams this year and have gone 4-5 against them so far as opposed to Air Force who had one quality weekend on their schedule the entire which was against DU and CC. they will be a better tea for it down the road and should they make the ncaa toutnament I would not want to be a number one seed having to play the beavers.
  3. as will BE so first one to three wins
  4. maybe someone could clarify this for me in that in sat gopher game northeastern was called for delay of game when the goalie shot the puck over the glass which is not supposed to be a penalty in the ncaa. the nu coach was told the wcha interprets the rule differently. on friday in bemidji with wcha officials the bsu goalie did the same thing but wasn't called for a penalty. what is the differnece between the two other than it wasn't a call to benefit the gophers?
  5. our biggest weakness' are we are vulnerable to a very good forecheck and have difficulty clearing the zone as happened numerous times this weekend. plus opponents shots from the point scare the hell out of me as a lot of goals have come from there i.e. last nights first and third goals.
  6. and theirs came in the final 11 seconds. I would think that will be different tonight.
  7. 2 years ago in bemidji we got out to a 2-0 first period lead, they tied it early in the 3rd and fabian scored with about 3:30 left to win it. the next night at the ralph the beavers got out to a very quick 2-0 lead but we came back and won 6-3.
  8. he's not going anywhere, not after one possibly non playoff season. they also just gave him a nice extension last year I believe.
  9. who recruited toews, oshie, finley, chorney and lee? I believe it was Hak, if not please correct me. that was perhaps the best recruited class this program has seen- they just underachieved. I also thought hak was in charge of recruiting under dean?
  10. we're also only 6 points out of first with 2 in hand and a series at home agianst denver in jan. bottom line is we have to start winning and winning games in bunches if we are to turn this thing around. I still go back though that our OOC record could possibly kill us as Denver finished 2nd in the WCHA a couple years back and was left sitting at home because of a poor OOC record.
  11. wow is the wcha sucking on nc. msum lost again last night to yale. they must have watched the und dvd "how to perform in holiday games" but on the bright side goon's favorite whipping boy this year, air force lost. last year it was miami and next year it might be sacred heart
  12. I thought so, so is there anyway we could move that series to to mariucci. or anywhere but the ralph.
  13. I'd be willing to bet that hak has a betetr record at mariucci than at the ralph vs the gophs.
  14. have you come out of retirement?
  15. hey, I did the what if and if we alternate sweeps and splits starting with sweeping the gophers we'll have a shot at winning the wcha-there's some positivity.
  16. he may have been there longer but hak has had more opportunities-like the last 4 years.
  17. on a side note weren't they supposed to have the gophers and bulldogs play at metrodome one of these years?
  18. but eaves does have something hak doesn't and that is a big old shiny championship ring.
  19. he really is sieve averaging giving up only 1 goal per game the last month I wish we had a sieve like that. he also only gave up one goal to mich state unlike our two.
  20. everybody keeps saying our problem is defense, defense, defense. our problems this weekend and over the last couple of years haven't been defense it's been our offense and our inability to consistantly score 4 goals, let alone 3. we give up 2 goals a game this weekend and don't win one game the majority of the blame goes to the offense.
  21. whether they won or lost the shootout the game counts as a tie in the rpi and pwr.
  22. being you're the rpi and pairwise guru(sp) I've been saying that a lengthy unbeaten streak will be needed to turn this ship around. in your runs did you put together a 10 or 12 game unbeaten streak during jan-feb and if so would it have made any difference?
  23. this has not been a good weekend for the wcha as msum just lost to princeton 5-2. Add that to our failures, scsu in florida and wisconsin technically not getting 2 w's in their own tourney
  24. than we should have been fine yesterday. as the games against usa and msu would have been those two games.
