this notion of hak getting outcoached last night again because we lost again to BC is funny. 30 minutes into last nights game it was a 2-2 game and a very young sioux team held their own against BC-if not fot a few lapses during a key 4 minute stretch there might have been a different outcome.

It's been a while since we have had this many freshmen, I forgot how much energy they bring to the game(granted it is only the first game) but hopefully that is a sign of things to come.

It was interesting tonight in that two regina players who didn't suit up were sitting behind me and they just kept saying how good the sioux were and how they knew where they wanted to go and that regina wasn't playing that bad, und was just that good.

all this talk of ND having one of the largest fan bases is a little overrated as it doesn't really translate to hockey. I said this earlier in this thread the two frozen fours they have been a part in the last 4 fours they by far had the fewest fans of any team there, I didn't see them come to the ralph in droves last year either.

it was reported on espn this morning that notre dame still wants to remain independent in football if it can. if they deem they can't they would pursue the ACC before the Big 10.

at the NCHC press conference I recall better officiating being addressed, to me that means I'm pretty sure Papa Shep and a lot of the WCHA refs won't be considered.

I've heard on this site in numerous spots that the reason steve did not get any of those jobs is because UND has a requirement that all coaches must have a degree and he doesn't and that is a big reason as to why he never got one of those positions. if I am wrong someone can correct me.

I say let ND do whatever they want. they obviously think they are bigger than the sport. if they come to the NCHC great if not whoopdy do. and can somebody please tell me how a nice little 5 year stretch makes this program a traditional power? in non conference scheduling there would be 10 teams I would rather see before the irish. they don't even have that big a of a fan base. they had by far the fewest number of fans at this years frozen four and I think the same can be said for in 2008 as well.

is it just me or is it really weird to see DU and UND stading hand in hand in this whole process considering all that has happened with the two programs the past several years?

with all the officiating complaints that go on here-any reason to believe this move will give the conspiracy theorists more ammunition when our favorite squad has to kill 20 penalties a night?

I wouldn't mind seeing tech come along. it also looks like I will make my first ever trip to the final five now before it goes away.

you may very well be right on this. however, how many times in the past have you seen it where a coach is being courted for another position, comes out and says it isn't true and then a few days later he takes the new gig.

the oilers organization has stated in the past how happy they are with how hak develops kids, so I would expect to see him here this fall and perhaps next year as well.

I agree with this 100%, a few years back UND had the Force of the North thing going on and if they did something like that you could go this direction very easily. but my preference is to have no nickname or logo other than ND.

I think he wasn't invited because of the age limitation stated by sioux fanatic but it's that you have to be under 20 when the tourney starts I believe.

I am no supporter of one and done's in any sport whether it be hockey, basketball or whatever. it is not good for the sport and if this kid has any aspirations of only being here one year than I say let him go now.

this kid is no toews. he is a middle to late first rounder at best. plus there are too many reports of him saying he might go the junior route. if those are all true and he is saying those things he has no true commitment to come here, if he did he would just come out and say I am commtted to going to the university of north dakota and leave it at that.

if that is the case I don't want him no matter how "good" he might be.

Brad said a few weeks back it would be a lesser profile team as well so that eliminates cornell and yale. we already play harvard and today he said it wasn't st. lawrence, brown or quinnipiac. so that leaves it at being clarkson,colgate,dartmouth,princeton,rpi or union.

that's a reason why this team may not be built for winning the wcha, however come ncaa post season and ripping up frozen fours-we can only hope.

I went to renew my tickets on thurs and they had a poster up for the ice breaker. looks like bc will play mich state the first game and we play air force, then the two winners will play on sat and vice versa for the losers. so we aren't guaranteed to play bc.
