  1. The Bismarck Tribune has weighed in this week... My link GO SIOUX!!!!
  2. I forgot it's an afternoon game, so I'll catch TH's broadcast on the radio while tooling around the oil field! SIOUX YEAH! YEAH!
  3. That sucks because my ABC affiliate in Bowman is out of Rapid City. Guess I'll just listen to the broadcast!
  4. Ate at an In and Out Burger in Reno, NV last week and it was amazing. Everything was fresh. Again, it's a chain, but it was great
  5. I'm breaking the "no chains" rule but these hardly taste like chain food... 1) Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse- Been to their Denver location a couple of times and it was nothing short of amazing. 2) Fogo De Chao- Went to the Minneapolis location after the Packers throttled the Vikes this year and it was amazing. Grand Forks needs Grand Junction Grilled Subs back....always had amazing sandwiches there.
  6. I guess I still fail to see what President Kelley has done wrong in all of this. He was stepping into a crappy situation when he took the job in '08 and hasn't done anything about retiring the logo that hasn't been directed upon him. When you have orders from the SBoHE, and they are your bosses, you listen to them, and you do your job. He's not thrilled about these logo bills in the state legislature because they do more harm than good. This is nothing but political grandstanding on the part of Al Carlson. Would have loved to have seen this bill 3 years ago. The people that are all pissed off about never seeing Kelley at a Sioux hockey game with an indian head logo on crack me up too. So what? We have like 3 logos....wear whatever damn logo you want....if he's standing up singing the rouser when Minnesota is in town, then I'll want him fired.
  7. You've obviously read something wrong because President Kelley didn't take the steps to retire the nickname until the state board told him to. He was doing as he was told by his bosses...you would be expected to do the same. And if you really believe that crap the Douple supposedly told Kolpack, then you're crazier than McFeeley.
  8. I would rather see a real marketing strategy instead of the one that has been deployed now. If I have to hear more kids scream "We are North Dakota," I might vomit.
  9. The problem is this....there is no time left. I do cheer for my team until the horn sounds, but we are out of time. The November deadline has come and gone and the board has decided to move on. The legislature is just really late to the party. No clue why this didn't grab there attention in previous sessions.
  10. An Ice Breaker like that would be an amazing tournament to host at the Ralph. I'm sure Jody Hodgson buys Hak awesome Christmas presents for pulling in such great competition. Looks a little like the Frozen Four.
  11. Darrin's a pretty smart guy so this could be a great choice....plus his voice is amazing. Maybe we can get Wayne Larivee from the Green Bay Packers.....now there's a radio voice for football!
  12. I apologize for jumping the gun on you. I guess my only question is are you positive that this person receives these things? If that is the case, then I will agree with you. Sorry for comin across as somewhat of a horses a$$.
  13. I read the Standing Rock story yesterday and a thought came to my mind, hopefully I'm not brining up what someone else has said here. My thought was, the best thing that Dr. Kupchella and Dr. O'Kelley could do is to call a press conference, thank the Spirit Lake Reservation for all they have done through this situation, and then proclaim that they are forming a committee to come up with a new nickname. I don't have the nuts and bolts of picking the name figured out, obviously including fans and alumni. Then they should proclaim that they don't want to keep the nickname because they are done honoring a tribe (Standing Rock) that doesn't feel it is neccessary to listen to the people who live within the tribal borders. Are we certain that a vote on the reservation would go the way of the Sioux nickname? Not neccessarily, but at least the tribal members would have a say and not just the slanted tribal council. This would not make all the nickname supporters happy of course, but I think UND would look pretty good doing it. Just my take, some may disagree.
  14. wait for it..........cue the goofer fans
  15. It's not that you are giving a Native American perspective or that other posters on here are close-minded. I think most posters have come to terms that there will always be opposition to the nickname. I think what people are more upset about is that you really are not bringing a constructive arguement to the table that we already haven't heard, but you are being disrespectful in an effort to start a fight, from what I can gather, mainly with Sioux-Cia. She's already stated that she is not taking the bait but you continue anyway. Nobody is calling you names and accusing you of being close-minded so please show the same respect to the rest of the posters. Your arguement goes a lot further if you state your point without getting into the name-calling and "I told you so's."
  16. I think that it's a crying shame to have that ring scoreboard around the arena have advertisements on it during the entire game. I understand that this brings in revenue, but that scoreboard could be better used as a spot for stats and scores from around the WCHA and around the country and not just a random corner of it. Just my opinion I guess.
  17. You are right, you are entitled to your own opinion....as am I. I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm pissed about this video, I just find it in horrible taste. The fact of the matter is that we live in a different world nowadays where people find offense to little things like this video. As supporters of the University of North Dakota, we know all about the things that people take offense to, even if we don't find these things offensive ourselves. My great-grandpa told me about the era and the feelings that he had towards Nazi Germany and I study history at UND so I've learned about it quite extensively myself. You are right, simply ignoring the era will never make it go away, but I think there are multitudes of other ways to poke fun at a rival without bringing hitler into the fold. If a child is going to learn about the ravages of Nazi Germany then the child should learn it in the classroom from a teacher who has at least some knowledge of the background and not from some video made by a supporter of Moo-U! I doubt they learn about nazi Germany in hayology 101 anyway. haha I hope on the this subject we can at least agree to disagree.
  18. You can actually save any work you do with Microsoft Word on Vista in a "Word 97-2003" format and then it's usable anywhere. I find myself doing that a lot now when I write papers and then have to have them printed on campus.
  19. I've run vista on my toshiba laptop for over a year now with absolutely no problems at all! (knock on wood!)
  20. What just completely floors me about this whole subject is the people who said they got a good laugh out of this! When I saw this video I was completely disgusted, and the same would have held true if it was made by a UND fan about an NDSU. There are so many ways to poke fun at a rival institution, but to give a person who exterminated thousands of people the time of day is dispicable. Maybe I was just raised differently, but I did not find it funny in the slightest.
  21. Damn, let the Sioux get one season into the transition and not just the exploratory year before we judge how it's goin. Why don't you Moo-U trolls just go away and be insignifficant somewhere else?
