  1. Darby Hendrickson has by far the worst lid I've seen in a while. Someone should tell him that 1995 called and wants it's hair-do back.
  2. From what I heard, Hak was fine with Thul officiating the 3rd game, it was Russell who requested the change and therefore the change was made. I agree, I think that the league should have one ref work all three games or else automatically bring in a new ref for game three regardless of what the coaches say.
  3. at this point there are too many people who nickname supporters hope go away. i don't think any of that is viable or even right. i support the nickname but if this is going to be done, let's get it done right.......i do hope that students, alumni, and fans have a say though.
  4. Just saw this on the Herald website, thought you all would be interested. UND nickname committee to be formed next week Oh yeah, happy 125th b-day UND!!
  5. They purchased the air time just like they do on WDAY in Fargo and like they did with their football games on the NBC North Dakota Network. This is where UND and NDSU differ for now, UND charges the flagship station (KQHT, 96.1) and the affilliates on the network to carry games, while NDSU buys the air time on their flagship and affilliate stations. I assume UND will do the same thing when their current contract expires and they will take all advertising and affilliate relations in house like NDSU.
  6. A blog on the Denver Post's website gets Vossbergs side of the story. Nothing too groundbreaking, just thought you guys would like to see it. Vossberg Speaks Out
  7. Don't worry, I'm sure Ryan Bakken will write a "list" about it, or will somehow point out that Hak should have to work a church dinner as part of his punishment. I don't know about anyone else, but I think Bakken's columns are a waste of column inches.
  8. Just happend to be scanning the Denver Post online and caught a story saying that Brock Trotter is NOT with the Pioneers this weekend in Mankato and could be out longer. Doesn't sound like an injury, anyone have any info on this? DU's Top Scorer Not on Trip
  9. These are some great pictures. I grew up in SW ND and have been to or through the abandoned towns of Gascoyne and Bucyrus. I know the 2 people who live in Haley, and the town of Marmarth can be pretty fun. When it tells you that the stretch of highway 12 is rough, don't believe them because it was re-done this summer and it's a beautiful drive through that part of the state, especially driving from Rhame down into Marmarth in the badlands.
  10. We should probably quit saying "word on the street is.." This seems to be going on a lot in this thread and it had people thinking that Oshie and Radja threw down fisticuffs in an elevator on campus after the game, which we find out later is far from the truth. I get what you are doing in trying to pass on info that you know, but I'm just saying this because it gets people thinking the wrong thing when they shouldn't.
  11. His smile is hard not to notice, you can see how much he is looking forward to being their head coach. Congrats Dale, we know you will do well.
  12. Lennon's Press Conference in Carbondale is starting now. https://secure.stretchinternet.com/wlive.ph...eo&id=30707 watch it free. Sorry, don't know how to post links Good Luck Dale
  13. I think you might also have to figure the geography of such a move into the scenario. Mussman is originally from Owatonna, not far down the road, and has family in the Twin Cities. Just something to think about.
  14. I'd take even a share of the NCC title in the last season
  15. Unbelievable, congrats to Central Washington. Coulda used this upset a couple of weeks ago.
  16. It's great to see these guys playing so well for the Sioux, and it's great exposure for Sioux football in western North Dakota. I remember playing basketball against these boys back in high school and even when they were on the JV team guys like Ott and Bauer were huge and tough to deal with. Good luck guys.
  17. Televising this game in Grand Forks is a very dumb move. I wish there was a way to black it out in Grand Forks. I predict 6,000 for attendance tomorrow....that'll be embarassing. I understand putting it on in the other markets....bad marketing move having it on in Grand Forks.
  18. What do you mean?? North Dakota leads by 15 with 12 minutes to go in the second half.
  19. I have two of them in my freezer right now, checked the numbers, and sure enough, they have been recalled. Thankfully I haven't eaten them yet!
  20. Dan Hammer does a daily sports show on 740 AM out of Fargo. He comes to GF and spends one hour doing the Dave Hakstol Show from the Tavern. Then that night Tim and Swyg do the Sioux Sports Show on 1440 AM with all of the UND coaches. Hope that helps you out a touch!
  21. You're right....you think we are getting blasted now? Wait till the name is changed to the Reds. That'll rile 'em up, and I think that's been done enought already. Something that pertains to the entire state of North Dakota would be fitting for a nickname change, seeing as this is THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA!
  22. Here is a solution. We keep the logo but change the name. Here is how. We notify all tribes or bands in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Manitoba that we are considering a name change and to inform them that they are being considered as an official sponsor for the University and if selected their tribe (or band) receive the benefit of the shared use of the logo and will receive exclusive national recognition. New name could be Fighting (Insert Band/Tribe Name Here) Sioux. And maybe have a different sponsor each year. Tribes/bands may actually compete with each other to be the one. We could either keep the Sioux name or choose some other name. If the existing imagery is appropriate to the new tribe/band it stays or we could modify it as needed. Asking a Canadian tribe to sponsor us makes sense because historically this was Canadian soil and Canadian native Americans or is it native Canadians lived here. Also Canadians love hockey I'm sure they would love to sponsor the team and we would get a new fan base. Seems most people think our team is Canadian anyway so overall it looks like a win/win situation if managed OK. Fighting Ojibway? Fighting Anishinabi? I think Ojibway sounds OK, better than force of the north. There are over 50 tribes in Manitoba! Lots of names to choose from. http://www.nanations.com/canada/manitoba.htm also several tribes in Minnesota http://www.accessgenealogy.com/nativ...sota/index.htm just pick one and get approval so we can keep the logo.
  23. Do people actually think that if we change the nickname we'll be able to keep the logo?!?! That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard!! This whole case has to do with the nickname AND the logo. To suggest that we'll somehow be able to keep the logo has to be one of the dumbest things I've heard all morning.
  24. I think it's time to do this right. We have three years, which for most of our sports is all transistion time and we aren't worrying about a post season anyway. I say we take two to two and half years to reach an agreement with the namesake tribes and if nothing is reached by then, we use the remaining time to find a nickname, logo, and possible mascot that best suits us. That's just my take. There is plenty of time, but we have to do it right. GO SIOUX.
