  1. http://www.uscho.com...olarship-union/ Union College, RIT, Army, Air Force, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton and Yale do not offer athletic scholarships.

    Jerseys

Yikes. Black pit stains need to go...and that jersey definitely needs a number!
  3. That sounds typical of Cardinal...cue Dark Starr singing "Oh Canada" about North Dakota hockey players on FSN...and Jeff Dubay turning red-faced when discussing the Sioux...
  4. I concur 100%. Union College made it all the way to the Frozen Four with a roster made up primarily of freshman and sophomores. Oh, and not a single scholarship player. It can be done.
  5. I think Mike Guentzel is a far better choice for the Mankato opening.
  6. As much as I hate Boston College and those ugly new faux-back third jerseys...you're right. BC won the title in 1949...and didn't make a championship game appearance again until 1998. That's 49 years between title game appearances. It's incredible what Jerry York has done during his tenure there.
  7. I think BU gets its fair share of players too. After that, it's up-for-grabs.
  8. Actually, it was Denver in the late 50's and 60's who had a run comparable to Michigan and BC...From 1958 to 1969, Denver was in 7 championship games (58, 60, 61, 63, 64, 68, 69) and won 5 of them (losing in 63 and 64).
  9. I hope you're talking about the 1970's because every era since then has had a pretty good mix of conferences winning championships. The 2000 - 2006 stretch was a great run for the WCHA (titles for four different schools in 00, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06) but Hockey East is looking at having won 4 of the last 5 NCAA titles should Boston College win on Saturday night.
  10. Any more down than the 2008 Frozen Four when BC put a 6-1 smack-down on the Sioux in the semi-finals and then beat Notre Dame 4-1 in the title game? Or maybe more than the 2010 Frozen Four when BC beat RIT 8-1 in the semi-finals and crushed Wisconsin 5-0 in the championship? Maybe it's just that BC is THAT good.

    Jerseys

The easiest way to tell replica vs authentic is the shoulder patches. On replica jerseys, the shoulder patches are "iron-on" and not nearly as thick as an authentic jersey. I do understand what you are saying, though. The number on the front is now likely something that will have to be added when you customize your jersey, which will now result in four sets of numbers (front, shoulders, and back) being added as opposed to three sets in past years.
  12. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Are you telling me that there might be cheating going on in Alabama, home of MTV's Two-A-Days and Hoover High School's program run amuck? Say it ain't so, Joe, say it ain't so! http://www.usatoday.com/sports/preps/2007-07-29-hoover-investigation_N.htm
  13. Unbelievable. I apologize for the mistake. Ohio State played Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl. Nonetheless, here's an article about the NCAA's decision to allow players to play using the "it's the BCS, not us" argument... http://msn.foxsports...analysis-010411 And multiple sources didn't buy the whole "Cam didn't know" argument either... http://msn.foxsports...colleges-110910 But since you brought up Oregon, heck, let's look at their issues too... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/oregon-ducks-football-latest-facing-alleged-ncaa-violations-215600792.html
  14. Sort of off-topic, Buckysieve, I can only assume that your signature line "Lucia 2 NCAA titles > Hakstol 0 NCAA titles" line means that you're back on board with all things happy-go-lucky at Minnesota as opposed to wanting him canned after the performance of the past three years. Minnesota and Wisconsin certainly did have a choice. And that choice was Penn State over UMD, St Cloud, North Dakota, etc... Administration's decision aside, I didn't talk to a single Minnesota fan at the WCHA Final Five who is in favor of Minnesota moving to the Big 10. I know that that number isn't an exact science, but I think true hockey fans understand what rivalry means. I will give Gopher hockey fans credit for that.
  15. I probably shouldn't have implied that the NCAA directly makes money off of the BCS system inasmuch as I was suggesting that the whole "system" makes money on BCS football games. Had Ohio State and Auburn lost out on millions, heads would roll at NCAA headquarters. Instead, the NCAA pulled the old "we aren't affiliated with the BCS so we can't do anything" card.
  16. I'll concur with that. North Dakota would have done just as well to stay in the WCHA and invite Miami and Western Michigan along with LSSU, Northern Michigan, and the several other schools left in the CCHA.
  17. I love it when Gopher fans consider the Michigan win over North Dakota last year on par with such upsets as MSU over BC...it's hardly that caliber or even Harvard over Minnesota circa 1989. Michigan over UND last year is NOWHERE NEAR the upset that Michigan State was over Boston College several years ago.
  18. I beg to differ and hardly consider Ohio State and Auburn as "campus issues." Flashback to the Buckeye/Tiger championship game. There is NO EXCUSE for the NCAA washing its hands of Ohio State's player eligibility issues which erupted BEFORE that bowl game. None. And if you think Cam Newton is innocent in the "build-my-preacher-dad-a-church-and-I'll-attend-your-school" fiasco, then I don't know what to tell you. The NCAA did what it had to do in order to ensure that money would be made on a football game. Take away five Ohio State football players and Auburn's star quarterback and you get a sub-par title game, bad TV ratings and revenue being lost. The NCAA simply couldn't allow that to happen. And it didn't. Instead, the NCAA turns a blind eye and suspends the five OSU players for the start of the following season. Then the bottom drops out on Coach Sweater-Vest. Cam Newton bolts for the NFL after winning an NCAA championship trophy for Auburn. Win win for everyone though because the NCAA made money hand-over-fist on the championship game. Five years from now, Cam Newton will be a star in the NFL and he'll return his Heisman Trophy just like Reggie Bush. OSU's already dealing with sanctions and in a few years, Auburn will wind up being the USC of the east. Since the NCAA likes to sanction schools for nicknames, perhaps a "naughty list" of schools that seem to have an epidemic of "strictly campus matters" is something the NCAA should be discussing. Just a thought.
  19. Had a Gopher fan ask me the other day if I was "supporting the WCHA" by cheering for the Gophers. Almost had to laugh at the idea of supporting the conference, the same conference that Minnesota has helped to destroy as we currently know it. No thanks, Mr. Arnold, I want to see a Boston College smackdown next weekend.
  20. Ohio State...Auburn...USC...North Carolina...Miami...Northern Colorado...Montana State...Montana... NCAA: We'll get to that later, just make sure the Sioux hockey team doesn't wear any logos come tournament time.
  21. I was there in Milwaukee watching that '97 team...yes, they wore green breezers and helmets.
  22. Tony Hrkac seemed to like 'em.
  23. You're joking, right? Show me maize and blue and you instantly recognize Michigan. Anywhere.
  24. That X 1000!
