We won our broomball semi-final game last night 1-0 and lost the championship game 2-1. I had 0 goals, 0 assists, and was a -1 on the evening, having been on the ice for the game-winning goal scored against us with about five minutes left in the game. I'm not sure I'm qualified to coach defense OR offense, Wilbur, but I do appreciate being thrown into the mix of coaching candidates you'd work alongside.

Really? Good for the Swiss. Here's another question...since the advent of women's hockey, the USA and Canada own all of the gold and silver medals save for Sweden's silver in 2006. USA has the 2006 bronze medal and Switzerland now has one bronze medal. Who has the others?
-
Who won the bronze medal game?

As opposed to playing Minnesota in the cozy confines of the Xcel Energy Center, in front of 8,000-10,000 of THEIR fans, vs playing in Bismarck, in front of 5,000-7,000 of North Dakota fans? It was just a suggestion...especially since there don't appear to be many bidders for these things nowadays... 2015: Fargo 2016: Bismarck 2017: Grand Forks Since 2001, Manchester, NH, and Worcester, MA have hosted a regional. Both are within 60 miles of Boston. That streak will continue thru at least 2016, too. Hmnn...

Bigger goons than The Lumberjacks, our broomball opponent last night!
-
I'd agree with you on that...but in terms of Sioux fan support...Bismarck would be much more "homey" to UND than to Minnesota, a likely regional attendee as well.

As much as I love seeing the best athletes in their profession play in the Olympics, there is something to watching the unheralded athlete come from nowhere to the spotlight... One of my favorite non-1980 Olympic stories to this day...I can still see the French fans standing and chanting "Rey Le-blanc...Rey Leblanc...Rey Le-blanc..." during his incredible performance in net at the 1992 games in Méribel, France. Give me chills. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1201781/index.htm Those moments just don't happen anymore.

So you're sayin' there's a chance...

Beat me to the punch...it can't work any worse than Target Center, can it?
-
Didn't the Bismarck Bobcats play their first season at the civic center? I'm almost positive they did.
-
Good point. I'll offer one up...can we have Grand Forks, Fargo, and maybe even the Bismarck Civic Center make an effort to consistently host NCAA men's regional hockey tournaments?
-
Now there's a fair comparison - from this point forward, all NCAA regionals involving UND will be played at REA. This will be followed by the Frozen Four, which will also be played at REA. Give me 10 years of that and instead of you lobbying for Hakstol to be canned on a weekly hourly basis around here, you'll be spear-heading an effort to build a statue of him out in front of the arena.

2002 and 2003 titles be damned...Lucia still needs a pair.

The NHL player question is legitimate...a women's league? Only if the NHL is willing to prop up each team's financial losses, which would be in the millions of dollars.

Edited my initial post - 6 different champions, not 7. I counted Denver twice. My bad.
-
2004-2013 ten-year span: WCHA: 3 (Denver 2004 & 2005, Wisconsin 2006, UMD 2011) CCHA: 1 (Michigan State 2007) Hockey East: 1 (Boston University 2009) ECAC: 1 (Yale 2013)
-
Was actually 6, not 7. I counted Denver twice. My mistake. Fixed my original post.
-
No way someone just asked him that. Surely, you can't be serious...

Here's another good one, gfhockey... in the last 10 years, BC has won 3 NCAA titles...in the 7 years that BC did not win the title, 6 different teams have won titles. Throw out BC...and I give you...that nasty word again...parity. EDIT: 6 different teams, not 7.
-
Here's a couple of facts for you, gfhockey... BC has won 4 of the last 14 titles, but EIGHT different schools have won the remaining TEN titles FIVE DIFFERENT schools from ONE CONFERENCE have at least one title during that 14 year span If that's not parity, I don't know what is.
-
Hilarious how you make that 2000 Sioux title sound like it happened in the era of black and white TV and wool hockey jerseys...but constantly rant about the Gopher back-to-backs of 2002 and 2003 like they happened in the last two seasons.
-
All good arguments...I'd like to add one: 4. gfhockey being named extra-special associate head coach. Let's face it...his keen insight of the game and clear knowledge of how to win championships, along with his ability to relate to the young players by teaching them the basics of jager bombs and keg stands, is what we need to put this team over the top.

Damn that's a great name.

Were you channeling your inner "Fire Hak" thread?
