gfhockey fever...it's catchy!

That's two years in a row my team has been upset - last year as the #2 seed losing the semi-final to the #3 seed and this year as the #1 seed losing the championship game to the #3 seed. How long will I tolerate mediocrity? It's obvious my system doesn't work. Most talented team in the league...some former state indoor and outdoor champions on this team. How come I can't motivate them? It's time...to fire myself.

I haven't felt this crappy about a loss since...well...since last night when my broomball team blew the championship game of the playoffs.

I agree that it was a bs call...but, again, you KNOW the officials are going to try to even things up. Why even put yourself into the situation? And just before that breakaway...how about you hit the waiting left-handed shooter with a pass ON HER STICK as opposed to the opposite-hand side? Pass gets fumbled, picked off, and skated down the other way...while USA player #3 is skating off on a line change? Good grief...FIRE HAKSTOL!

Good point. Although I think in terms of (un)popularity here on the board, gfhockey is the equivalent of Lyndon B Johnson...and that makes us Barry Goldwaters.

Say what you want about the slashing call in OT...you can't put yourself in the situation like that where a call might be made. You KNOW the refs will be looking for anything to even things up.

Interesting story about Jim O'Brien, though...he was among a group of healthy scratch players for the Ottawa Senators (in town to play the Bruins) who had planned to attend the 2013 Boston Marathon - and stand near the finish line. The group decided to 86 the idea of going to watch the race and instead stayed in their hotel and took a nap instead.

We won our broomball semi-final game last night 1-0 and lost the championship game 2-1. I had 0 goals, 0 assists, and was a -1 on the evening, having been on the ice for the game-winning goal scored against us with about five minutes left in the game. I'm not sure I'm qualified to coach defense OR offense, Wilbur, but I do appreciate being thrown into the mix of coaching candidates you'd work alongside.
