With CBS sports network and being in a conference with 6 teams out of 16 in the NCAA tournament there is no real advantage to the Big 10 hockey conference except to play the Badgers and Gophers every year home and away.

How many UND fans were excited when the S&D teams were in Conference USA? I don't think anyone had a thought that the rest of the sports would move to it. So please excuse our lack of enthusism.

Don't get your hopes up on your other sports going to the Big 12. Wrassling is more of a niche sport than hockey...brother. (HH voice)

I was a Jets fan before the move to Phoenix and I am still a fan today of the "new" Jets. If they went with Jets I hope they don't copy Winnipeg or New York and try for something original.

It was worth it, Bubba has things turned around, too bad one program sinks another, in the 90's and early 2000's, the major programs were all flying high, hockey, M&W basketball, and football.

I am actually glad they added the description option where you can tell them why you choose the nickname, like for me I put since there is no DI team with the name, plus with the GFAFB, and UND's aviation program Jets could be a good name.

ND should do this, BUT have a lowered speed limit in winter time. 80-85 from April-Sept and 65-70 from Oct-March.

There is a big difference in year 1 and year 9 of coaching, especially at the DI level. .500 for year 1 is good, .500 at year 3 post transition ( and 9th year overall) is not good.

1996 Grand Forks Varmints, lasted I think 2 years then the league folded. this is the 20th season for the FM Redhawks, maybe if the city put some money into a team including a new stadium (have to admit Fargo's Newman Outdoor Field is a nice one) it could lure fans back to the diamond.

Seemed like in the past few seasons UND was bad in the 3 areas I mentioned, but it looked like it has improved somewhat last year despite injuries at the RB position and at QB. Blocking should help out whoever we have under center, I agree with Bubba on the punting, it wasn't good at all last season.

I hope there is nicknames and NOT an option to remain just North Dakota. If a name is picked after winning a NC so what....the name North Dakota will be there, that name is NOT going away. You can still wear your Sioux gear, yell GO SIOUX, etc, and support the school. Others who will slowly absorb the new name will still wear Sioux gear, yell go UND or (insert new nickname) and most importantly still support the school. I still support Central 21 years after retiring the greatest nickname that school ever had it will be okay, now if die hard Sioux name lovers stop supporting the school just for that reason...those people are not fans at all!!
