Why is college the only ones with halves and not quarters. You have quarters in high school and the pros but not college.

Not to take a swing at the hornets nest but could their success at the FCS level be because UND was late to the party (by 4 years) and our program was down. If UND went FCS the same time NDSU went would they have the same success? Remember UND beat a ranked UNI team in 2006 and crushed Southern Utah in 2007 with DII players and Lennon as coach. Since both ND teams recruit the same area it's not a guarantee all the stars the Bison had from 2011-2014 wouldn't have chosen them over UND.

I think it would've been interesting to see how deep NDSU could've gone with an FBS schedule during their run. I know they wouldn't have been playing Alabama for a NC but a decent bowl game would've been good for them. Maybe when the next round of move ups happen both or maybe all 4 Dakota teams can move up at the same time.

Roger Thomas said during the "When they were Kings" PBS special that UND had pretty much the same amount as NDSU, but was SDSU and USD funded the same as NDSU? USD did play for a national title in the 80's so they must have been pretty good, UND had poor coaching and Roger had to start at the bottom and work his way up. I think other schools lucked out with recruits and you add the right coach (UND did with Bubba and Lennon along with Thomas) and the ball swings the other way.

^^^^^THIS!!!! According to Roger Thomas UND had pretty much the same amount of scholarships as NDSU it took coaching and recruiting to beat them. UND was #1 when NDSU beat them in 1981 to start the 12 year run.

From 1993 through 2009 minus 2004-07 coaching and recruiting got you ZERO home playoff games. That is not all scholarship reduction. From 1991-2003 ( as the prior post refers too) got NDSU ZERO championships. Also from 1991-2003 3 WBB titles, and a football title....not bad for a "hockey school" (oh add 2 hockey titles in that time frame too).

Is that rule really necessary? Is the NCAA worried that much fanfare will equal gifts or recruiting when you aren't supposed to. In this day and age with FB and Twitter that rule needs an overhaul. And the for the record I have never tweeted or talked to any recruit, I may follow coaches on Twitter but would never "talk" to a recruit per NCAA rules.

In a way its a shame he burned up his redshirt last year but on the flip side he got gameday experience and got 2 wins including a win against a ranked team. I hope whoever the QB is they stay healthy.

Still a big question mark on the UND QB and RB situation.

Bisonswille has it probably at 80-0 for FU, I am predicting 14 points for the winner (hopefully UND) barring any major injuries in the Wyoming and Drake games I think UND can play them tough especially on defense, it's the offense that's queationable, but we will know more after the first 2 games where this team is headed.

Everyone in LA, Miami, Tuscaloosa, Columbus, Eugene, Ft. Worth, Madison, Minneapolis, Lincoln will put aside their FBS teams and watch 2 teams from the FCS duke it out from Missoula.

Speaking of the REA and its land, from the air (or Google Maps) the bushes (or trees) leading away from the REA spells out FIGHTING SIOUX, did that have to be removed?

I think that would've made for a great Gameday atmosphere.

Is it for sure, all I saw was the potential for NDSU hosting game day but it wasn't written in stone.
