I wouldnt be surprised if we get 2 more years out of Zach. If Parise leave now I think he'd be a damn fool, he's not ready for the pro's. Let him stick around till he wins a hobey and/or a national championship!

Brandt was playing just fine. There was not reason to pull him, he was playing solid he had gotten beaten on 2 really nice tips and a breakaway. Josh did let in a weaker goal and never really look comfortable IMO.

We can't become a one line team. Those never work, they win games but never go anywhere in the playoffs. Parise/Bochenski/Muarry will be great but we need some production on lines 2-3 and maybe 4 too. I think I may put it on Lundbohm to provide a lot of the scoring leadership next year, but Colby, Connelly and Canady are going to have to pick it up. (Maybe Blais could put them all together and have the "triple C" line?)

Dont sweat WPoS. I wasn't jumping on you. I just feel that people expected Parise to come in here and put up 50 goals and 75 assists during his freshman year. I am fine with 61 pts, Im just saying that no one would be complaining if any other player, no matter who, put up those numbers. IMO Zach will continue to be a force and turn into a decent if not top notch professional in the next 5 years. The NHL will know the name Zach Parise. p.s. Thanks for the Fargo info, I grew up in New Jersey where no once cares about college hockey, Ive been at UND for 4 years but Ive really only gotten into the know about it in the last year and a half.

I think that Zach had the numbers to be a finalist. But not to win, I agree with the sentiment that he has better years in him. Whats more impressive than the Parise's numbers this year is that he did it standing next to Bochenski who had the same number of points. If Boch stick around that combo will only get deadlier. Add Muarry (sp) to the mix and you will have one or maybe more than one Hobey finalists and hopefully a winner! The Hobey hasn't stopped in Grand Forks since the Hrkac Circus. I think our time may come again in the next year or 2, but not yet.

Opinions change. I have more than a few friends up here at UND that grew up in the cities and were die hard Gopher fans, and swore that they would never ever pull for or go to UND. Well the same thing applys to hockey players too, I bet if you spoke to Bochenski or Parise they grew up Gopher fans yet they ended up here. On another note I seems wierd that I have never seen a DI hockey player from Fargo. There are players from Grand Forks, Minot and Bismarck around. Unless they leave play for the USHL and don't admit that they're from Fargo (Understandable) You would think that there would be 1 or 2 players a year that could go DI somewhere.

As for the goaltending I think right now the starting Job next year is Brandt's to loose, but if one of the new guys comes in with his hair on fire (sorry bad expression) Brandt will be on the bench before he realizes that he sitting. About Parise. Give the guy a break. Hes a 18 year old true freshman that put up 61 points in 39 games! Yeah his production slowed at the end of the season, but it was his first college season. I'd like to see anyone get ridden like Zach did and produce a 60+ point season. Give him a summer to build some muscle and mature a bit and he will be back next year and im sure he will be fun to watch. I know people had high expectations for him but if it was any other player no one would complain about a 61 point freshman season right out of high school. And now for Greene. Greene likes to throw the body around! At the start of the season he took a lot of penalties for trying to play like was still in the USHL,and this got the refs attention. (Thats all I will say about that) Toward the end of the season he started to learn how not to get in the box. He will keep getting better and better.

I can't speak for everybody else, but I like having people here with difference of opinions. It creates better discussions as long as we stay away from that "Sioux Suck/ Gophers Suck" BS. Keep on posting. Good Luck in the frozen 4

I am just going to watch the frozen 4 looking for good hockey games. I really don't have any extreme feeling either way. The Gophers are tearing me in 2 directions. (WCHA alliegence vs. Sioux Gopher rivalry) I think the Gophers are peaking right now so they may provide a "challenge" to anyone. Cornell might have the D needed to shut down the gophers, Im not sure. I don't know much about UNH, but I think Michigan got a couple goals from the home ice crowd. So I guess I am saying its going to be either the Gophers or The Big Red too close to call.

Lets be honest. There are more hockey players in Minnesota than in North Dakota, so logic would say that UND or any school for that matter would find more of their recriut from Minnesota. As it looks right now Shattuck is starting to become a UND feeder, and thats fine with me. You wont be able to build a successful team focusing on ND recruiting when there might be only 6-7 good high school programs that can produce WCHA players. I do think we are missing that "Travis Roche / Al Macinnis" type player on the blue line, Schnieder has shown glimmers of that (30 assist) so maybe he can get into that more.

As I said before in the Goofers board. Each team has their fans, of their fans some are cool and some are assholes. WPoS it is up to you which kind of fan you want to be. I guess I direct that toward all the people who seem to like to throw $h!t. Gopher fans and Sioux fans alike. CHILL OUT. This is hockey. Its not politics or war. Its a nice diversion and its something that I like very much but it is not worth all the insults you people direct toward each other. I challenge all of those "beligerent" to try to be able to admit when the gophers play a good game, and vice versa for all you gopher fans out there. I don't like the Gophers. I really don't like the Gophers, but at the same time I dont feel the need to waste my breath ripping on thier fans. I can also admit the fact that right now they have a trully good team that could probably win it all. (Although it pains me greatly) So rip on the team all you want. But don't make it personal its counter productive. And could some one please tell the Gophers to get some haircuts their looking a bit shaggy

I've only been on this board for about 2 months and going to UND for 4 years and I really didnt interact with a lot of Gopher types so I really wasnt exposed to it until recently.

That game isnt on in Grand Forks is it?

It sucks to go down when we did. I would have loved to see the Sioux go to Buffalo, but that didnt happen. And frankly (nobody shoot me for saying this) I don't know if we could have beaten the gophers the way they are playing right now. Ferris State played UND very solidly, and they won, but then the gophers schooled them in the first period.. But remeber that last year out team was mostly freshman and we didnt make the tourney. This year we still had our problems and we ended up a 3 seed. Next year all of those freshman from last year will be juniors. Bochenski will have another year, Parise will be better and will be getting some great recruits and hopefully a championship goaltender. This team has a lot of potential! Next year (assuming no one leaves early) we will have a very experianced and up and coming team that will be very dangerous! The only down side is that it looks like the Gophers wont loose a lot of players. The Gophers are only graduating Roberg, Anthony and DiMarchi, but they have a lot of drafted players who might sign a contract. CC is letting go a bunch of critical players on that team, they are loosing Jason Josza, Joe Cullen, Noah Clarke, James Laux, and Tom Preissing. The loss of Cullen, Clarke and Preissing really hurts CC and they might be a more beatable team next year. Mankato is going to be good next year they are only loosing, Runkel, Joe Bourne and B.J. Abel. Those are good players but they still have the Shane Joseph/ Grant Stevenson combo, and that is still deadly. Denver is loosing so peak talent, Dubie, Jason Grahame, JJ Hartman, Matt Weber, Greg Barber, Aaron MacKenzie, and Kevin Doell are goners. They may be hurting. Next season is a ways off so lets relax and be positive and Have a nice day

Yeah.... Fornier transfered to UAA so we m aysee him next year in the Green and Brown (?) of the seawolves, but rumor has it that he is having grade problems out there and may not be eligable.

OK here's the deal... This Gopher bashing and counter Sioux bashing is starting to piss me off. I am a Sioux fan and as a prerequisite of that I don't like the gophers. But its time for a reality check, the Sioux got beat (or beat themselves) by a team that the Gophers beat down the next day. The Sioux are going home while the Gophers are going to Buffalo. (Don't be too excited, Ive been to Buffalo, it kinda sucks ) The Sioux took the best first half ever, and pissed it away, while the Gophers seem to be peaking at the right time. I know people who are Sioux fans, and I know Gopher fans, and I even know Gopher fans who became Sioux fans after coming to UND (Born Again SiouxFans ) Of those people some are my friends and some are @$$es, but that goes as a constant thoughout society, there are Cool people and there are @$$es. Its Just the way it is. I dont think the state of Minnesota is chock full of @$$holes simply becuase the girl at the Cenex in Fergus Falls tried to over charge me for my tank of gas. So just some Sioux fans went to a gopher game and some gopher fans went to the Ralph and were heckled a little doesnt speak for the fan base as a whole. Ive been to away games and St. Cloud, Duluth and Mankato and each place there were fans that were asses and fans that were cool, thats universal. So lets stop this BS about the other teams. This is pissing me off. I consider myself a hockey fan, I have my team (the Sioux) but I can still appreciate a well played game even if it is the Gophers. So lets all take a step back, relax, and stop the insults lets talk about hockey.
