  1. It is a big deal, simply becuase of the fact that REA and the Athletic Dept had originally promised 3 lower bowl sections to the students, that didnt happen. Now they moved us into just one section. Whats next? I would not surprise me to see them move all the students into the upper bowl in a few years. Its all about money not about students. I guess it pisses me off so much because I am a hold over from the old ralph and I know what it was like to have the students be 40% of a building. The athletic dept would never have thought of taking away seats like they do in the new building. And now that they have taken the seats away you know that it is impossible to get them back. And 100 seat is a alot when you look at how fast the lower bowl seat fill up. If the doors open at 530 before a game all the real hard core fans are out side at least an hour before that. The lower bowl student section is normally completely filled by 6pm that mean now some of the people who really care about the game are not going to be able to be close to the action.
  2. Where would you rather sit. On the glass or in the sky? I understand that the may open up some seats up top but that is a hell of a trade. Thanks for the generosity REA(thick sarcasm)
  3. I dont think its fair to take a freshman and put him in a role to "take over" for David Hale. Those are some pretty big skates to fill. If we are looking for new leadership on the blue line I would point a finger at Schnieder, Jones, or Greene. Schneider does have a offensive flair (30 assists) but I think Jones or Greene or both need to take over the leadership on the blue line. Those guys are going into there 3rd or 2nd year in the WCHA and it is much more reasonable to put the owness of leadership on one of them then to put it on a late freshman recruit who had not signed a letter of intent until this week. I not saying that Robbie wont be an impact player ... I really have no idea about him... but there are better options.
  4. The Dakota Student reported today that student seating on the lower bowl will be moved from sections 108-109 to 111! That is a loss of 100 seats. The excuse given was that the students block others view of the game and the same old BS. Roger Thomas was quoted in the paper saying that..Its the best decision for everyone
  5. I know the terms of the contract were not disclosed, (The Devils never disclose their contracts) but Blais said that as far as he knew the Devils have never paid that much money to a first round draft pick. So I guess that David will be doing pretty well on the money front. An educated guess would be about a Million a year. Must be nice to be good at hockey. I am still a little confused why the Devs signed him with his recent illness, but hey they offer the $$$ why not take it. Best of Luck Dave... Give'em Hell Go Sioux/Devils/River Rats?
  6. The AWHL also has try-out dates for the Fargo team in St. Louis Park, Blaine, and Moorhead. Looks like this team will be a go. The Central Texas Blackhawks also are having a tryout in Grand Forks at Eagles Arena, Siouxrock should check it out and go for the team.
  7. Best of Luck Dave. Looking foreward to seeing you in the Continental Airlines Arena next year wearing the Red and Black. GO DEVILS!!!!
  8. Jim--- This may be a wild guess--- but how happy are you to see Spie in that Jersey!!
  9. If it was done correctly.. meaning cheap tickets, smart scheds (no games that go up against UND games) and most importantly good hockey. It may work. We have the facility, (The Ralph) and I would really think that a good junior program would go well in Grand Forks, and I would be a great Fighting Sioux farm team!!!! I would go see Junior Hockey if it were in Grand Forks. Imagine a player coming to Grand Forks to play Juniors in the Ralph... Would he ever want to play anywhere else? I think not ((I can't believe I just agreed with Siouxrock))
  10. I think we should have a meet the SooRok party in Grand Forks where he has to show up with high school transcripts to prove the 3.5 GPA and a photo of him in a RR jersey to prove he plays!!!!! And then we could get drunk... but not SooRok... hes to young to drink.
  11. Just another note--- Spie also had an assist in that game and was a +2. Great job, best of luck
  12. Where can I pick up one of them SooRok decoders?
  13. Yellowdog... dont think to hard about Siouxrocks post.... They will make your head explode!!! Trust me its not worth it...There is no secret wisdom hidden in there!!!
  14. Best of luck to him. Hes a dangerous player good thing he wont be around to throttle us next year. Sejna just logged his first NHL goal against Patrick Roy too.
  15. If he can beat up on people and not get caught..... all the power too him.
  16. Just an Idea.... What would happen if the NCC as a whole became a DIAA conference? There seems to be a lot of schools in the conference that are thinking of or are moving up, so why not?
  17. Spiewak has played (signed?) with the Portland Pirates of the AHL. Jim Dahl repored on Siouxsports and he is listed in the teams stats file as playing. Portland is Washingtons AHL team.
  18. AHL not bad at all. Good Luck to you Chris!!! Syracuse Signs Motzko, Leinweber and Hanchuck Just a note--- That is Karl Goerings team too. OH BTW Karl has a 2.71 GAA with a .913 SV% not bad at all!!
  19. The first round of the playoff always seem to occur durning UNDs spring break, all of the studends are gone, hence the lower attendance numbers.
  20. Try this one, its as of 2002. http://www1.ncaa.org/eprise/main/Public/pa...attendance.html
  21. Art Femenella D R 6-7 247 6/6/82 Annandale, N.J. (Sioux City) Vermont If thats not good enough look at this....Sioux City Stats. Not much on the point scale, but he has 197 penalty minutes in 48 games. I know that this guy is probably a goon and not fast enough for the WCHA game, but wouldnt it be sweeeeet to have a 6-7 250lb guy to punish all the clutchers and grabbers in the WCHA. Greene would be a pussycat in comparision. Oh yeah... Just for comparison.. Commodore is 6-4 230 (now not when he was in college)
  22. If I were Blais I would be really reluctanct to pull a kid out of Juniors early. I have a feeling that had Siembida had more time to develop in the Juniors I think he would have done better in the last year and a half in a Sioux jersey. I would be fine taking Ryan Hale and moving him back to D in a bind. Give him some time to practice at the position and I think he would end up OK. Unless there is someone else that has been over looked in the USHL or BCHL to bring in. Maybe the Sioux should do something unheard of and start looking around in Quebec. The QJMHL has produced many players that have gome straight to the pros. Martin Brodeur comes to mind. I am sure there is some unfounded talent out there that we could pick up on. Maybe Blais should take a trip to Slovakia or something.
  23. Sorry.... I was typing my post before I saw yours. Concordia Moorhead is in the MIAC... I got that mixed up with St. Paul.
  24. BISON PLAY CONCORDIA ST.PAUL LMAO!!!!!!!! Wow... I must say NDSU is really extending their limits, maybe somewhere deep down they need to put a game on the sched where they know they would win!!!! What next? Fargo South High School? Valley Middle School? North Dakota School for the Blind? I mean that is really pathetic!!! Looking at UND we have Crookston that is still an NSIC team and Newberry College is in the South Atlantic Conference both D2 teams!!!! St. Paul Concordia is in the MIAC a true "powerhouse in DIII (3 ) ball! C'mon NDSU if you really want to go up do D1AA don't play MIAC teams... Thats dumb.
