  1. Dell is at the Montreal Canadians Prospect Camp. It ends today so I imagine we will receive an announcement from Dell/UND within the next few days.
  2. Kristo, Mark MacMillan and Aaron Dell are at the Montreal Canadienes Development Camp (June 13-16). A Habs blogger posted his initial impression of each player after the first day of camp. Kristo: "#Habs Dev Camp: Danny Kristo - good skater, clearly skilled. But looked very small among peers. Didn't help he was in group with the d-men." Dell: "#Habs Dev Camp: Aaron Dell - for me, best of goalies today, though hard to judge from few drills. A bit slow, but doesn't quit on puck.' Mark MacMillan: "#Habs Dev Camp - Mark MacMillan: One of my pet prospects. Like upside. Wasn't awkwardly thin. Only reaseon to be happy Kristo returns to UND" Former Sioux Mike Cichy is also at the camp. This is what the blogger had to say about him: #Habs Dev Camp - Mike Cichy: Not sure how he spent his year away from the rink without playing, but it wasn't at the gym. Very small+thin. The blogger added, "Today was a short day and just basic drills. More detailed analysis as of tomorrow."
  3. Rocco Grimaldi tweeted this yesterday
  4. Vermont recruit Anthony DeLuca has opted to play in the QMJHL. It sounds like the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL) has its sights set on BU recruit Jack Eichel.
  5. Schlossman is reporting that Andrew MacWilliam played the last two months of the season with a separated shoulder and will undergo surgery. http://undhockey.areavoices.com/?p=91212#comments He previously reported that Knight played the last three months of the season with a broken hand. It's unbelievable what these guys are able to play through.
  6. As expected, Steve Johnson named Assistant Coach at UNO http://www.omavs.com...px?path=mhockey I hope his son Luke keeps his commitment to UND.
  7. UND is hosting a Stanley Cup watch party on Wednesday night at Tavern United
  8. There is also a graphic that says "GO DEVILS!" I drove by the Alerus Center yesterday and saw both back-to-back.
  9. Jordan Schmaltz '100 percent committed' to North Dakota, not Windsor Spitfires Hopefully he still feels this way after the NHL Draft.

  20. This post may sound a bit bitter, but the 'reasoning' behind his decison kind of bothers me. -Yes, Portland has a great program and coach, but it's not like UND is chopped liver. I've heard from several different people in the hockey world that Coach Hakstol and the North Dakota hockey program has a great reputation in NHL, and as we know, has done an excellent job developing NHL players. Also, UND is considered an elite program in college hockey. -Obviously playing at UND would allow Seth to continue his education while playing hockey. If his parents really want him to earn a degree, a 4-year college would be the best place to do that, not the CHL where Jones' education package will more than likely be null and void as soon as he signs an NHL contract. -A lot of Canadians on the coaching staff and roster leads one to believe that UND is in Canada? ETA: Although, I will say that Seth gets major points for officially keeping his options open and not committing to UND if he wasn't sure he would play there.
  21. Since the debate has moved here... Ryan S. Clark (Fargo Forum) spoke with Popeye Jones about Seth's decision
  22. Joe Novak has been named Director of Hockey Operations http://www.denverpioneers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=18600&ATCLID=205425018
  23. I think the long season (around 60 games, I believe) and the Best-of-7 playoff series are major factors in these decisions because it closely mimicks the NHL. Add in the traveling, several games/week, etc. Obviously these factors are the toughest argument against the NCAA route. Naturally, a lot of young players believe that playing in a mini-NHL is the best way to get to the actual NHL.
  24. I believe Brad Schlossman reported that Forbort is returning.
  25. His most recent tweets seem to indicate that he plans to commit to Cornell. His older brother plays there.
