University of North Dakota Hockey 2014-15 season
brianvf replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
And it's not even like I think this year's team is head-and-shoulders above other teams. Sure, they are currently ranked #1 in polls/PWR, but this is a year where the national tourney could be very wide open. I was looking at the Bracketology and there are quite a few #2-4 teams that I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they took home the trophy at the end of the year. Michigan & UMass Lowell (technically #16 right now, which would be out, but ya know) as #4 seeds? BC and UMN as #3 seeds? UNO, BU, DU as #2 seeds? Could be any of those teams or others. Could be the type of tourney that a hard-working team like UND manages to win four games in a row...maybe similar to 97? -
I haven't received mine either. The last 2 years (1st year of Final Faceoff and last year of F5), my tickets never arrived to me (maybe they don't ship to AZ?). So both times I had to get new tickets printed and pick them up at the arena. Very strange, I hope I get mine this year!

I literally laughed out loud twice reading that article. He's from Boston, what do you expect? He's probably never even watched UND this season, and yet he's digging into random stats to attempt to back up an argument that doesn't need arguing. Stats don't win games. As was mentioned earlier, this is not a team that blows other teams out. They just find a way to win games, plain and simple. So using the argument that they play a lot of 1 goal games is irrelevant...they still won those games. -
Why beat around the bush if he is indeed out for the season. Just say "out for season" like they eventually did with Grimaldi. Or like Genoway. There must be a chance, however small it might be, that he makes it back by regionals or F4 if the Sioux make it that far.

Haha. Oops. I was thinking of the line from Back to the Future: You're my density.
-
I think that was around the time that Miami was going to be a destiny in college hockey, IIRC.
-
There seems to be a few Miami fans here that are quite confident after the Pioneers took them out to the woodshed on Saturday night. 6-2 final with the sog being 47-21? Yep, that certainly inspires confidence.

NORTH DAKOTA vs. St. Cloud State - SENIOR WEEKEND

No doubt. He really is playing his best hockey of his career in the second half here. Same could be said for O'Donnell. -
NORTH DAKOTA vs. St. Cloud State - SENIOR WEEKEND

Great weekend of hockey against a team that has given the Sioux fits at the Ralph recently. They only need one point in Miami to clinch the Penrose outright. Awesome group of seniors and hopefully Mac will be ok and back out on the ice soon... Sioux sweep!! -
Just flipped after the last couple games completed. UND back at #1 with a .0005 lead in RPI.
-
CHN for me. And now UND is back at #1 in the PWR! RPI of .5926 vs .5921 for MSUM. The DU/Miami game final must have flipped it back.
-
CC 5, WMU 0 FINAL DU 6, Miami 2 FINAL UND locks up a share of the Penrose!
-
Also shows UMD, Miami, and UNO as #3, 4, and 5 in the PWR...along with DU at 8. After getting swept, SCSU slips to #17 and out.
-
PWR now has MSUM back at #1 after their win over MTU. MSUM and UND are tied in RPI. Not sure if the remaining couple of games will have any impact on that.
-
Thank you to DU and nice work CC!
-
As in... First period SOG were 14-7 CC Second + third period SOG were 43-10 WMU
-
I think he meant it after the 1st...so for the 2nd/3rd periods.
-
You would think that with both UMN and BC having 3 players each on the list that they might split the votes? Not sure. Might help open the door for Shelby a little bit.

http://www.undsports.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&id=3757010 Good Through These Doors this week that focuses on the 7 seniors and their quest for a national title. -
No doubt. You don't get many chances against a good team where you're up 3-0 early and playing against their 2nd-string goalie who's seen all his action on the bench.
-
Shelby Amsley-Benzie is a top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier award.S She is the only goalie on the list.

This week's Bracketology. Protect the #1 seed: East Regional (Providence): 13 Bowling Green vs. 4 Miami 12 Providence vs. 5 Michigan Tech Northeast Regional (Manchester): 14 St. Cloud State vs. 3 Minnesota-Duluth 11 Quinnipiac vs. 6 Boston University Midwest Regional (South Bend): 16 Robert Morris vs. 1 Minnesota State 9 Boston College vs. 8 Omaha West Regional (Fargo): 15 Michigan vs. 2 North Dakota 10 Minnesota vs. 7 Denver Moved for no 1st round conf matchups: East Regional (Providence): 13 Bowling Green vs. 4 Miami 12 Providence vs. 5 Michigan Tech Northeast Regional (Manchester): 15 Michigan vs. 3 Minnesota-Duluth 11 Quinnipiac vs. 6 Boston University Midwest Regional (South Bend): 14 St. Cloud State vs. 1 Minnesota State 9 Boston College vs. 8 Omaha West Regional (Fargo): 16 Robert Morris vs. 2 North Dakota 10 Minnesota vs. 7 Denver That first west regional with UND, UM, UMN, and DU would be a crazy bracket of death. The second version with the RMU draw in first round would definitely be more favorable, but still a very tough 2nd game to advance to F4 against either UMN or DU assuming a victory against a man named Robert.

Goals against UND with less than 1 minute: 2 Goals for UND with less than 1 minute: 6 Didn't expect that. Nice. -
I guess the refs thought different?
