  1. Lee Goren was in house during the weekend. He would have been a great candidate. He was a stud in college for UND and was huge part of a title team. However, his name rarely gets mentioned lately, so he would have been a great candidate. I was at the game so I didn't get to listen (sounds like a good thing), but I'm hoping Tim H gets back in the booth ASAP.
  2. The team will be wearing white Thursday as well as Saturday if they beat Michigan. I will be wearing Green, you can wear whatever you like.
  3. Either Duluth or Notre Dame. Why? Michigan is the only team with more National Championships than the Sioux...we don't want them to get a bigger lead.
  4. People hate us because it starts with the media. Why do media outsiders not care for the Fighting Sioux? The fanbase. We are so passionate and, well, obnoxious (in a good way to me) that any little thing they say that isn't in full support of Sioux hockey gets shredded by Sioux fans. I think it takes a toll on those members of the media, and their dislike (I wouldn't say hate) stems from that. Most try to maintain a professional attitude about it or try to hide their feelings...some show their displeasures. If we had a much smaller fanbase that didn't jump on anything negative about the team, I think you'd see a difference in opinion. Throw in a bunch of successful seasons, and it just adds fuel to the fire.
  5. If you could, could you also do the short pre-game "highlight" video right before the start of the Sunday game against DU? You'd rock if you could!
  6. I liken Donovan to a guy like Taylor Chorney. Good skill and can provide input offensively, but just doesn't have the size to jump right into the NHL. Give him a year or two (or more) in the AHL and he may get there. If Taylor is struggling for time, Donovan won't jump right in either.
  7. Also, based on how the voting takes place, I don't see it possible for Frattin to win the award. Voters rate their top 5 finalists 1 through 5. Not sure if the guy you pick to win gets a 1 or a 5, but either way, the guy with either the most points or least points win. Going by that criteria, not one voter will likely put Miele any farther down than 2nd on their list. If even just a handful of people put Frattin farther down the list (or not on their list at all) he will lose a ton of ground just by those few voters...which I see as a very likely scenario. It's tough to think that he won't win, but you have to be realistic in a situation like this, and I just don't think Frattin can win. I sure hope I'm wrong!
  8. Just hold up a large blank piece of paper just for the hell of it haha.
  9. There is only one knock on Hakstol...and that is the lack of a national championship. That's it. Period. I think, for some, it's hard to see some of the team's Hakstol has fielded not win a title. I am not one of them. It's hard enough to even get to the Frozen Four, even with a stacked team. To win it is a whole 'nother challenge. The coach can only do so much. He can't change bad bounces and he can't go and play goalie if the team's goaltender flopped in the Frozen Four. He can't go score a game-winning goal, and can't deliver a momentum shifting check. This speaks for itself: 5 Frozen Fours in 7 seasons 2 MacNaughton Cups 3 Broadmoor Trophy's A team that gave you confidence to win it all come playoff time, every single season Has produced top-notch talent...who have been greatly successful both on and off the ice....he turns boys into men basically He doesn't take no for an answer He epitomizes the character and love of the Sioux tradition, and backs it up strongly. The team has seen growth in the fanbase and he has built excitement in a program where some thought it has reached its peak. The stands are always full, and look what has happened when the team plays in places like St Paul for the Final Five...it's jam-packed with Sioux fans. Some of this may seem unrelated to the head coach, but in reality, much if it is on his shoulders, whether it's good or bad. For us, we've seen some of the greatest times in Sioux hockey history...now it's time to win a national championship. I wouldn't trade Hakstol for anyone.
  10. Absolutely not, Gerbe has quite the team credentials at BC...we want Matt to follow in those footsteps this year as a senior. Gerbe is a Sioux killer (figuratively for you PC Nazi's), yes...but also an NCAA Champion and played in three National Championship games. A runner-up to the award is no knock to either of the two who fall just a bit short.
  11. Yes, the winner is already determined. The voting takes place and the top three final vote getters are in the hat trick, the one individual who had the most votes wins. There is no more voting.
  12. After hearing the USCHO podcast on the Hobey hat trick, doesn't sound like Frattin is going to win. During the conference call that takes place between the voters, it sounds as if Frattin's character really depleted his chances, and the guy talking actually was surprised he got into the Hat Trick at all. Also after hearing what John Buccigross is saying, Miele is the front runner after he talked to a number of voters. Sounds like Frattin will be a runner-up.
  13. Before you start crowning Minnesota a great NFL team, go compare actual statistics to a lot of other NFL teams.
  14. Trying to get tickets someway, somehow....for a "reasonable" price.
  15. 8 > 5
  16. For Thursday's game, since it's on ESPN2, you could use: E very S ioux P layer N eeds 2 More Wins Ann Arbor is a Whore is a common classic slogan...not sure if you could get that sign in the arena though.

    Jerseys

I saw a green Toews gamer from his freshman year. Nothing topped that one.
  18. No one can say for sure where Frattin's shot came from, but some say it came from the grassy knoll area...
  19. Does all this mean we are getting a new state-of-the-art arena in a few years?
  20. Chay Genoway was HUGE this weekend. During many parts of the season I was hard on him because of his play, and not due to a lack of effort. The guy wants to win so bad that he'll try to throw the team on his back and win it himself, which is great determination, but often led to too many mistakes at key points in games. If he could learn to control and direct the game instead of trying to take it over himself, the team was bound to do great things. Chay did just that this weekend. He didn't try to do too much, but made the most of his opportunities when he could. Chay didn't try to force anything, and was very conscious about his defensive responsibilities. Look what happened....the Sioux dominated both games and Chay had 5 assists over the two games. That's awesome. He plays a huge role on this team on and off the ice, so if he plays like this in St. Paul, the Sioux will be just fine.
  21. Wow, what a great job by luapsided.
  22. It was clearly a goal on HDTV. All evidence and visuals point this being a legit goal. If you really take your time to watch all the angles a couple times, you can piece together where the puck is when out of sight, but there IS visual evidence, even in the overhead cam, that the puck was completely beyond the line. It was the right call....a tough call, but the right one.
  23. Come stop by our little tailgate party...we'll have a sign that says "Honk for the Sioux" along the road that separates Lambeau and the Resch (assuming we can claim a spot along there).
  24. That sucks...I'll be at the regional but would love to take advantage of a 15% discount in the Sioux Shop. I get the shaft again.
  25. Great wallpaper!
