Slowly but surely I am adding some new jersey pages...I added all but one from the 1932-50 seasons that I am aware of. If you know any others, let me know! http://sioux-jersey.com/#/encyclopedia/4551922793
  2. Mario takes just about the same number of penalties as Mac and Blood. He gets a little too carried away with his style of play sometimes.
  3. The conference tournaments will be a big deal as well for a team like the Sioux. It's nice to have a good regular season outlook. At worst, the Sioux can afford maybe two more losses, but one is going to be incredibly more helpful. Then, the Sioux will have a must-win first round series of the WCHA Tourney. They have to get back to the X. Also, there are only five (not six now that the CHA is gone) autobids now, which is helpful. WCHA, CCHA, Hockey East, ECAC, and Atlantic Hockey. At that point, you hope that teams that will already have received an at-large bid win their conference tourneys. If you get teams that wouldn't have made the NCAA with an at-large bid winning auto-bids, it eats up spots fast.
  4. I wish I could give you more than just a +1 for that.
  5. Zucker is hurtin', but moving a little. Trying to figure out how he hurt his neck/back.
  6. Brian Lee might be the most underrated player in UND Hockey history.
  7. My initial thought was the same, but the more I thought about it, the better it would be to get them on the ice sooner. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see them in Sioux jerseys for as long as possible, but who knows what kinds of distractions will follow with the jersey change. There may be none, there may be a lot. I think it's a safer bet to do it during the regular season so the story of it will be a lot deader if they happen to make the NCAA Tournament.
  8. Personally, I could care less if any of our players play in the NHL. I just want them to win titles at UND. It's a little bit selfish, but that's what counts in my book. With that said, I think it's great when our guys go on to have great pro careers, and it's not as easy as it sounds to win a championship, so sometimes you have to settle for what you get. Am I disappointed we haven't won a Championship recently with some of our teams...of course. Is it nice to have as many teams with the chance at a title as we have, even if you don't win one...definitely.
  9. I like the sounds of the Tambellini kid. Big, skilled forwards are hard to come by. Chyzyk has the Bieber Fever...scares me a bit.

If you're referring to the Nike dazzle on ebay that is at $285 (as I type this), it's a pretty good look at true market value. It's not being bid up more than what it's worth. I've had people ask me to sell mine for as much as $360 a piece before (turned them down). You have to remember, the jersey sold for over $200 when it was available, and now they are very hard to find and the name is going away.
  11. I haven't come across any. It depends on how authentic you want it. If you are OK with a replica style that matches logos and striping, but the material, fit, and construction of the jersey aren't that of the time period, then there are places that may create one for you, so long as it is OK to reproduce the logo seen on the crest (since the WHA is defunct, not sure if it would be an issue or not). The problems you run into then are minimums. Most places make you buy a certain amount to make it worth their while, so either absorbing the entire minimum quantity, or finding other buyers would be required. You'd have better luck talking with potential buyers in your area to see if you can get a handful of people to go in on the deal. If you can find someone willing to do a one-off version of it, be prepared to pay for it. Good luck.
  12. I would be very cautious to purchase from there. I haven't done any business with them, but have read a few bad stories about those who have tried. I've heard of orders taking 6+ months and some never receiving their purchase after months of no replies. One person in particular waited many months for their jersey, only to receive the wrong one. He did manage to get a hold of them and offered to send them the correct one, free of charge, as well as keeping the wrong one. He, however, never received the correct order. Those are just a couple of the stories I remember reading. I came across their site awhile ago myself, and was intrigued, but the unfortunate stories I came across kept me away.
  13. Some of these aren't the Minnesota Fighting Saints (WHA), but here is a list that may interest you: Mike "Lefty" Curran: Played at UND 65-68, played for the Minnesota Fighting Saints (WHA) 72-77. Bill Colpitts: Played at UND 59-61, played for the St. Paul Saints (IHL) 62-63. Guy LaFrance: Played at UND 57-60, played for the St. Paul Saints (IHL) 62-63. Art Miller: Played at UND 57-60, played for the St. Paul Saints (IHL) 62-63. Reg Morelli: Played at UND 57-60, played for the St. Paul Saints (IHL) 60-61. Billy Reichert: Played at UND 54-57, played for the St. Paul Saints (IHL) 61-62. I couldn't find more than that after a quick search. Lefty Curran is the only one who played for the Minnesota Fighting Saints.
  14. I hope it doesn't smell as bad as when I was there.
  15. I'm hopeful, but realistic. If it was the Gophers that just got done playing Harvard and Clarkson, they'd be added to the "cupcake" list as well. There's a reason why they are 8th in the PWR and we are 20th. Do I think the Gophers are significantly better? No. Do I think UND faces a huge uphill battle when you factor in the injuries? Yes. With both teams healthy, I feel like we would be a slightly better team. With the health status of our guys, it pushes the favor towards Minnesota. We do have one thing on our side this time, though. The Ralph. It's one thing to go down to Mariucci and go away without any points, but this time, it's our house, our fans, with our banners over the heads that the Gophs will have to battle.
  16. I think BU should be in there instead of BC. BU has had a lot more consistent program for a lot longer, and they have more titles. BC fell asleep for awhile until the turn of the century.
  17. That's an interesting question that's brought up a lot...either directly or indirectly. A lot of times when we get a good recruit, we are thrilled, but if we don't sign him, we just say we don't want a guy who will only be here one year anyways. Here's how I look at it. A guy as good as Seth Jones would be huge for any university. If he came to North Dakota, it adds another level of credibility to our team, especially if he goes on to be a future NHL star. Look at Toews. Let's say he only stayed one year. How would you feel about him? I know I would still be thrilled to know that UND had an impact on him, even if for only one season. Future recruits can be swayed by the past success stories of a school, so someone who looks up to a guy like Seth Jones might convince him to sign with UND vs elsewhere. It may not win you a championship, but it wouldn't hurt your chances either, so long as the student-athlete in question was a good student, a good teammate, and a good citizen of the community. If a guy comes to UND and stays for only one year, but leaves for all the right reasons, there is absolutely no problem with that. If he is gone after one year for all the wrong reasons, that is potentially harmful. Just my take.
  18. Michigan is an elite program, no question about it. Their 21 consecutive tournament appearances speaks for itself. However, when your 6th title came in 1956, and your 7th in 1964, and you only have 9 titles, I find that to be a little too inconsistent for me to say that they are without a doubt the best program. The Sioux, on the other hand, have won a title every decade except the '70s since their first full decade of existence in the '50s (program started in '46-47). Even when they are not winning, they are still an elite team more often than not. The top 2 picks are correct, but I think it should be more like 1A: Michigan, 1B: North Dakota.
  19. I'm one of the crazy few who wouldn't mind Flickertails. I don't necessarily like the name Flickertails, but since it was a former moniker of ours, it would kind of make the nickname thing come full circle. I hate the idea that we'd essentially be another name for Gopher, though.

    I posted my thoughts here, if you're bored/interested: http://sioux-jersey.com/#/blog/4552031202/New-Women's-Home-Jersey/737771
  21. OK, I'll admit I'm wrong on the logistics, assuming you are right. My opinion is still the same. Whether it's UND, WDAZ, or whomever, why continue to let this issue pass by? It's like they are counting on HDTV as just a fad that will go away and everyone will return to SD programming. Won't happen. At some point, a switch needs to be made. I know money is a big issue, but there has to be some way to fund something like this to make it feasible instead of letting the world pass UND by. Just a thought...
  22. I just don't understand what WDAZ is waiting for in terms of HD across the board. I know it's not cheap, but it's not like HD is a passing fad that's going to go away anytime soon. HD is the present and future...time to get with the times. Maybe they can't fund anything because they don't have viewers because no one wants to watch their SD broadcasts? Just a thought...
  23. I think Dean got suckered more into taking the softer, skillful talent unlike in 2009-10. They played with no grit and little physicality. A couple years ago, they would fly around the ice and match up with anyone physically, which took a toll on the other team. This year, it was all trying to be too pretty and cherry pick your chances. Didn't work. Part coaching, part talent selection.
  24. I'll spare you.
  25. It's official. The Bismarck Bobcats are much better than the University of Vermont Catamounts. The Red Stars just beat Vermont 6-1.
