  1. I've seen mixed reviews on Greenway. The physical attributes are there. His brother is at BU and they're from the East. My guess is he isn't going to venture too far from the region, but you never know. Rumor is he's a middle-round type pick, which doesn't necessarily mean anything.
  2. This will be your experience at any Frozen Four event for locations not used to hosting the Sioux.
  3. All three potential conferences have pros and cons.... Big Ten: Pros: Name brand recognition; like schools Cons: Travel NCHC: Pros: Denver and CC are the closest proximity schools of any of the three interested conferences; Quality of league play Cons: Diffuculty in attaining wins; mostly no-name schools to those in Arizona WCHA: Pros: Easiest Schedule Cons: Travel; Poor brand-name recognition with conference foes I think them joining the Big Ten and playing a non-conference schedule that included Denver, CC, and Air Force regularly would make the most sense. As cool as it is for ASU to have hockey, they have an uphill battle to become competitive. This isn't Penn State 2.0.
  4. Speaking of James Patrick... His nephew Nolan Patrick is projected to go #1 overall in the 2017 draft according to Craig Button of TSN. In the same draft, Dave Tippett's son, Owen is projected to go #8 overall. Both are in Major Juniors, unfortunately. Would have been nice to get a sniff at one of those two, and knowing how connected Dave was (and I'm sure still is) to all the Sioux alumni, he probably at least had a talk with them at some point. Button also lists UND commit Grant Mismash at #13. http://www.tsn.ca/get-to-know-them-patrick-liljegren-in-2017-1.389307
  5. UND was gassed at that point. With Luke out and a lot of guys double-shifting, it wore on them. That break they got while the refs reviewed that hit was the best thing at that point. After that, they had their legs back a bit and finished the game strong.
  6. I think Mafia posted some team pics earlier from those years. 59 had Sioux spelled diagonally with sammy patch on sleeve. 63 had Sioux spelled diagonally as well, no Sammy.
  7. Our three (not two) years that we had Blackhawks-style logos didn't use Blackhawks logos...they were similar, but different variations of them. We would not need permission. It's like saying a Ford F150 is the same as a GMC Sierra. To someone who knows little about cars, they are just both pickup trucks. But when you actually take the time to look, they are quite different.
  8. I disagree on era-specific logos on banners. I like the continuity of having one logo used for the Sioux era on display. That's just my personal taste.
  9. Dell played well in 2011. Only gave up one goal...can't expect a shutout.
  10. I think in a semi-final matchup Duluth can play with them no problem. But, how will that overtime affect them? Hopefully not much, but it is extra wear and tear going into tomorrow.
  11. 4th round pick and was just a little under a point-per-game player through all three years at Minnesota. I think he did just fine.
  12. Great photos John. Thanks for sharing.
  13. I can't make it unfortunately, so maybe I should keep my mouth shut....but, I have two thoughts: 1) I love it! 2) It may be a bit too long for the sign.
  14. Guys who are 5-11 in the NHL aren't there for their defensive skills, so long as they aren't a total liability. They're there to bring that added offensive upside, which Gostisbehere has done to perfection so far. Troy has a ton of offensive ability, but can he translate it to an NHL game? Maybe. Stecher wasn't drafted so a team doesn't have anything invested in him, even when he does get picked up. Shayne was a 3rd rounder, so Philly was going to definitely give him a look if he seemed ready enough, then he took advantage of that opportunity.
  15. Gostisbehere is 5-11 and was drafted in the 3rd round. I'm not saying Stecher is going to be able to become what Gostisbehere has so far, but I do see some similarities in their games. Gostisbehere has a heck of a shot, though. Very underrated and quick, I think it fools a lot of guys.
  16. I feel like Grimaldi's problem has always been that he only has one speed, and that's as fast as he can go. I appreciate the fact he is fast and goes hard to all corners of the ice, but what makes Gaudreau and some of these other guys good is they use different speeds to get the defense off-balance. Gaudreau will come at you at 70%, and then all of a sudden will pop on the burners and go around you. Then you expect him to do the same and he dances around you at half speed because you expect him to turn it on. Grimaldi is coming at you with 100% speed for 100% of the time, and it's predictable.
  17. Sounds like he was eyeing college before the WHL draft. Some WHL insiders thought he would have gone higher than 12th overall had he been 100% committed to the WHL. Saskatoon, which drafted him, had two first round picks last year, so taking a flier on him was likely worth the risk in their eyes. In a video interview after Saskatoon drafted him, he talked like he was going to the WHL for sure. Going to Penticton changes things big time, and definitely shows he's interested in college at the very least. The Tyson Jost tweet more-or-less confirms that assuming he knows a bit about the kid. Johnny is a 5-11 (15 years old, going on 16 in a few weeks) D guy who claims to like to play all three zones, definitely talked like he leaned twoards the offensive side of the game.
  18. Yep. Either way, betting lines can be a poor indication of what the true odds of winning are. Never bet for the Dallas Cowboys. The odds are never in your favor.
  19. Betting lines don't show the odds of a team winning. They are chosen to get 50/50 betting on each side of the line. Yeah, UND is the favorite, but teams with large fan bases skew betting lines because of their blind faith when they bet.
  20. Maybe Dan was putting a little too much on the ol' Midco credit card with his pre-game dining at the concession stands. No matter where I've seen the guy, looked like he was carrying more food than he could handle, haha.
  21. Unbelievable. ^^^Literally.
  22. You need to practice your PC skills. I think it's offensive that you segregate women based on their size as "normal" or not. See how this game works? Nobody wins and nobody ends up happy. Nobody is truly going to get hurt from a silly chant. If your mental capacity can't handle hearing a chant as PG as "Husky women", there are much bigger issues at play.
  23. Until fans cheer for all teams equally, this will always be an issue. In fact, that's incorrect. Cheering won't be allowed either. It may make other players not doing as good feel bad. Wait, that's also incorrect. Fans won't be allowed to attend games since from a financial standpoint, it may offend those who can't go. Still something is missing...ah yes. Sports itself will no longer be tolerated as it singles out those with greater skillsets than others. There...everybody wins.
