  1. I would love Hak back....never was on the bandwagon of disliking him. If not Hak, there's a proven Sioux alum with coaching and recruiting ability. He was on the other bench tonight. You pay him to come home. If a coach can do what he's been doing in Duluth, imagine what he could do with REA and its facilities and tradition.
  2. The worst of it is....the best case scenario is getting back on the horse where we belong takes a few years to straighten out with a team this bad. Every year that a coach brings in this little amount of talent makes it even harder to get to the top.
  3. I don't think anybody expects Berry to name names....but he doesn't come across as having any sort of urgency in getting this figured out. That's the frustrating part. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever envision teams like Duluth being light years ahead of us, even with our worst teams.
  4. Thanks for reminding us....not sure we'd win an ACHA title with this group.
  5. Good first period. Gave up goal with five seconds left, then first shift of second period let them get another. Can't let them have goals on back-to-back shifts. 2nd intermission was tough and Berry "found out" who wasn't a quitter in the third (in more or less terms). Too many guys not doing what they're supposed to be doing. Back to referencing the good first period again.
  6. Teams play like they're coached, so predictable post-gamer. It's hard to believe Brad actually wore the sweater at one time.
  7. I vaguely remember some kid losing a foot out on the fifth hole or so of Ray Dicks who could still find a way to score.
  8. I see your point. But, if the Nets only played twice a year they'd probably sellout Metlife Stadium both games. I think part of the attendance problems is the watered down availability. When an event is easy to attend it doesn't feel as special to go. That's why you see the demand for an event in Vegas as crazy as it was. Fewer tickets with high demand in a unique travel destination creates excitement. For those that got to go, you'll always be able to say you were at that game. A year from now if you said you went to a UAA-UND game at the Ralph and you're a Sioux fan, nobody is going to bat an eye. People want what others can't have, so when everybody can have it, nobody wants it.

    Jerseys

You can get anything you'd ever dream of done to a jersey at EPS. Before sending it in, I'd provide a photo of the jersey and see if they already have whatever information you need on file. If they don't, make sure to supply plenty of good reference photos. Very rarely does EPS not do something right, so just make sure they have the correct info on what you want done.
  10. It showed on tv! We need more of this at Ralph Engelstad Library. My idea is to incentivize cheering by raising beet prices for every UND goal...the place would be going apeshit every week!
  11. I specifically stated my inference to people whom I showed the image to, which included no one from this thread at the time of writing. So, I'm a bit perplexed as to what the point of your comment is. If there's something I'm missing you would like to discuss, I'd be happy to.
  12. I'm ok with your opinion and respect it. Not everyone is going to love everything. I think your point was already well-established, so not sure what you're trying to add.
  13. Thank you for the comments. Removing the triangle would be alright. Most have seen the silhouette of the Sioux logo in the negative space of the feathers on the back. To your "final point", however, the jagged edge of the beak is actually a face (nostril is the eye) and the rest of the head of the bird is the headdress of the man. It's two Sioux heads in one. So, I would I disagree with having a rounded beak for that reason as it's design was very purposeful. Everyone I've shown Brien's new Hawk logo to think it's awesome. I know that doesn't mean everyone will love it, but I've never heard one good comment about our current logo from many dozens of people, yet haven't heard one negative comment about this one. It's a small sample size but I'm just sharing my experience. I personally think it's great as well and pays homage to the past will still looking towards the future. The current Hawk logo in use by the university is a jarring change from the past with little character to build from for the future. It's just a logo, nothing more. UND fans are used to having a logo that has pride and meaning beyond just being a logo.
  14. The day that Brien's hawk logo came out I started tweaking on it. Here's what I came up with: Browned up the beak, much more green, but left the red and yellow to symbolize the same things that were symbolized on the Sioux head. Also added was a hockey jersey look. This is one of my earlier tweaks so still has more red in it. I didn't take the time to add "HAWKS" on it ala the old Sioux jerseys, but definitely would be a plus IMO.
  15. It's recruiting. Brad took over an unforeseen change, kept the band together, and won a natty with a loose group of high-end talent. We've recruited some really good talent on the back-end and even goaltending, but we've been late to the game or non-existent on marquee front-end talent. It seems the theme is to go after strictly character players or leadership players more than straight up blue chip talent. I'm fairly certain (but haven't looked) that this year and last have less NHL draft picks than most rosters since pre-Hakstol. NHL talent isn't everything, but a team full of Rudy's ain't going to cut it either. Let's look past how inept our offense looks just trying to set something up and just see what kind of shots pass the eye test. Most of our shots look weak, soft, and inaccurate. It seems like some of these other teams always have guys wristing howitzers at the net. Combine our weak shots with the fact that so few of our shots are from quality areas due to sluggish skills to get pucks to open guys and you are going to be on the struggle bus as far as scoring. We're clearly recruiting the wrong forwards when a place like UND can be so short on talent and teams like Denver, Duluth, St. Cloud, and even Mankato are finding plenty of talent over us. Our forwards don't look better than Bemidji's most nights and that's a MAJOR problem.
  16. Most fans I see don't willingly particpate in any cheer. A new Hawks cheer won't fulfill any voids (not worth noticing anyways). In Grand Forks there is no cheer! (No cheer!) That's why we just sit here! (Right here!) And when we're gone from here... The Ralph will still have no cheer!
  17. I wasn't saying you're wrong. The players have to give the fans something to cheer for. However, when you need a spark, the fans also have an opportunity to help provide that.
  18. Chicken or egg argument.
  19. When does Coach Shaw become just Shaw?
  20. Shhhhhh, don't type so loud.
  21. They reviewed the buzzer beater twice....the first time for goalie interference. Then they went in the box to check to see if Miami was offside. It turns out they were. As UNDBIZ said, UND played the puck while it was in the zone, so the refs called it a good goal. Now I'm not an official, so I don't know how the rule is defined exactly. Miami shot the puck into the zone from the near side with 18 seconds left (offside) and Miami was the first to play the puck after it rung around the boards with 15-16 seconds left, not UND. The far side Miami player took control and made a weak attempt at a shot towards the net from the far blue line that was blocked and subsequently controlled by UND with about 12 seconds left. That is the point they are using to call the play a good zone entry when I think it should have been dead once Miami played the puck on the far side. Because Miami played the puck first, not UND, shouldn't it still be offside?
  22. I want to go somewhere that I'd vacation to without a hockey game. That means warm weather or an overabundance of things to see and do (or both). New York and Vegas have been great choices so far.
  23. Las Vegas should be every four years with new places filling the gaps in-between. Vegas is nice because the weather is great, tons to do, easy to get there from anywhere. My idea would be something like this: 2016 - New York 2018 - Las Vegas 2020 - Nashville 2022 - Las Vegas 2024 - Seattle (I've heard very early rumors that they'd like to go here once the new arena is built) 2026 - Las Vegas 2028 - ?? (Washington DC? Los Angeles? Orlando? Dallas?) This way Vegas doesn't get overplayed, but we don't make it harder and harder to attend these events as new, prime destinations become scarcer to find.
