I am thrilled with the Big Sky.. you have to wonder how long of a commitment DU made to SL. My guess is that DU will be looking for better options down the road.

OK, I will go with two plays from yesterday.. 3rd and 1 - I don't know all of the routes or play call. But as I remember it, shot gun - 1 short side - two or three lined up wide right. Hanson make a read at the line and sees single high with man coverage short side against Jackson. I am sure going into the play he likes that match-up. As the play develops, he steps up and rolls to his left sightly. He has a LB shadowing him because of the 8 yard run earlier in the drive. He chooses to throw the ball deep and over throws Jackson. I am fine with the play because, he put the ball the in the hands of his QB and WR to make a play. Personally, I thought that Hanson could have got the first down by pulling it down and running for the first. But, he threw it deep to a play maker. You win sometimes and lose sometimes. 4th down - it is a tough call - what make it more interesting is the amount of time left. If it is less than 10/15 seconds, you kick it. With 47 seconds left you are tempted to get the first because you have plenty of time to get another 10 to 20 yards to make it a sure thing. Plus you are looking at all the other aspects: wind, left hash, I think the kicker has a natural draw... I am fine with him going for it. I am not sure I agree with the play call itself. I would have went with more of a spread offense to prevent them from putting 10 in the box. But, they went with a short yardage power play. They didn't get it. The one thing that switching the play after the timeout did was confuse the UNC defense into too many players. Unfortunately for UND fans the call was not made. Again, its all part of the game. It sucks sometimes, but it is life.

39th with 68 right - went with a couple of upsets this week to catch the leaders - that was a FAIL.

My expectations are that UND contend for Championships. I think Mussman is doing a good job of building the program. Yesterday's loss was tough but you move on and continue to build. I think it will take another 2 or 3 years to see the full results. But, the program is building. I think this team is better than last year’s team and much better than the team they had two years ago. They played a tough schedule this year: SDSU, Sac St, Poly, EWU, N Arz, Mont, Mont St, SUU - that is a stretch of good football teams with two of the teams they played coming off of the bye (FCS record for that stretch 3-4). More than anything, I think what you saw with the up and down play was the lack of depth. UND did not the depth required to play that type of schedule. I know that several of you are in favor of bringing Dale L, Bubba, or Kalen DeBoer. But, let’s look at what they have done this year after 4 years of recruiting in the MVFC, with a new stadium and a program that was established at the FCS level. Record against teams with winning records 2-4 and two of those loses are blowouts E. Ill beat them 49 to 28 and ISU-b beat them 24 to 3. The two wins were against YSU and ISU-R. In addition, I like how the staff is building the program with quality kids. For the most part, nothing major as far as off the field stuff. Look at USD and NDSU. NDSU - Best Buy and voter fraud ring.. now USD with the tax returns problems with several current and ex football players. To build a program the right way it takes time. You cut corners you pay the price. I say that the staff gets 2 or 3 more years to produce the results the right way.

You are correct the SDSU I mean BU (not Boston University) game next year will be a great non conference game.

I watched the second half and the offenses for BU and FU are PU. If UND had made the mental mistakes that SDSU did yesterday. We would have 25 threads started on several sites saying fire Muss.

I think UND had +2 on the turnovers.

Yet another quality post.... on a game thread. I believe that we have another thread for this type of post. I am execited to watch two of the best FCS QBs play today - it should be a fun game to watch.

Bohl got run out of Lincoln... you should hear what they say about him in Lincoln. I know, I was wearing my Sioux gear at a Husker game and several fans made a point (NOTE: they had confused UND and NDSU) to comment about (rather poorly) Bohl the man and his defense. They think that he nearly wrecked the black shirts and according to many fans he was caught with his pants down and not just on the football field.

The sound and video timing is way off the interviews between periods are strange to watch

My tickets are right next to the students and it filled in fairly well during the first half. It was not coming back to a very good game for the second half that was baffling to me. And yes, the picture noted above is were the band sits and they happen to be on the field at that time. And yes, the student attandence could be better but that is true of other parts of the stadium also.

I have no idea but it could have been: 1) Starting field position, I thought that they started deep in own territory. 2) Griz made some adjustments at half - sounded like they backed off on the safeties 3) I think both J. Jackson and Townsen were hurt in the first half. I don't think Jackson really came back into the game until late 3rd early 4th. All of those things could have lead to trying different things to start the second half.. I know later in the 3rd it was dropped passes and penalties that were stopping the offense.

Hey quick question, you seem to up on this stuff... I am getting ready for basketball season and know that UND sports and HD Big Sky streaming is going to my primary method for watching the games. I just purchased the Sony - Google TV product, but I was unable to download the UND Sports streaming app because it was not supported. What do you use for streaming? and do you know where I can find apps for both Big Sky TV and UND Sports that support Google TV. I typically use my computer. But, thought that I might be able to get rid of cable and just go with internet TV.

I fixed that for you.. I think part of the problem is that they are trying to hit vs. tackle.

Thanks for posting here, please come back and post during the basketball season. NAU has a nice team and it will be interesting to see how your season goes. The last game of the year Poly at NAU is shaping up to be a big game. But a lot of season to go until that game. It sounds like NAU has paid it's due and it is nice to see it paying off for NAU. I hope that the game is on FCS it will be fun to watch.

you and me both... and thats just it. Many times the players are in position to make the plays and they just don't get it done. Players in the hole in position unblocked ready to make the tackle and they don't even touch the running back ... QB sneaks for 3 or 4 yards on the goal line or when you have then pinned down. It is unreal. On a postive note, I have been impressed by both of the JC safeties - they have made some plays this year and are looking better each game.

I agree with you it did look like the defensive player was hunting on that play. It will be interesting to see if the Big Sky suspends the player. I read that and thought the same thing.. unfortunately the UND defense has given up a large number of 3rd and very long plays this year and then when they do finally stop them on a play with 5 missed tackles you give up a face mask for a automatic first down. You can not make up the stuff we are seeing on defense this year.
