  1. The biggest battle UND will be fighting is the fact that there will be a full fledged and playoff eligible university playing in the toughest conference in the nation just 70 miles south of you. That is what Kuppy and RT cost UND by not moving upwith the Bison. It was a much easier sell for NDSU because it was the only DI game in the state..........
  2. Do not lump us in with the crazy stuff that Mpls comes up with. Anyone that is in the know with Bison Athletics knows that this is just some irrational dude's wet dream.
  3. This has got to be the most insane thread I have seen in recent years on any board. The Bison won't play the Sioux in 2009, and if they did it sure as hell wouldn't be in the Metrodome....or any place that was outside of North Dakota. If it ever happens, the game will be in Fargo. But, don't hold your breath because with so many conference games and with expanded playoffs, NDSU will have few options for non-con games.....plus one of the non-con games will have to go for a major guarantee with a BCS school.
  4. A lot is hanging on Mertens and how he pans out. It is a huge unknown with some huge shoes to fill. An I think the Bison will have a much tougher conference go of it than we have had in the past. The Gateway is a rugged place. Time will tell if Mertens is up to the competition in the Gateway. As for UND.....the depth would not be close to what SIU has this year. You need to get all scholies filled.
  5. Hammersmith hit the nail on the head (terrible pun......I know). Both NDSU sites fill a good niche and it is worth visiting both. I do my posting on Bisonville, but Bison Sports Net is a good site too. I also agree with his view on the operation of Any Given Saturday. I quit posting completely on that site. No Moderators in hiding on this board or any of the 2 NDSU boards. Everyone knows who we are.....and where we drink beer when we are in town for a game!!
  6. Yes.....we are going to "wuss out" on you again......deal with it.......
  7. Just a couple comments. 1- I am sure that the Sunday morning time slot is not as good as the previous one. I know from my TV habits, I rarely watch anything at that hour. 2- I am upset with McFeely because he has now revealed the actual cost of fish per pound caught while ice fishing. (He calculated it to be $83.50 per pound for perch fillets). I am still hoping like hell my wife does not read that column.

    UND or SIU

There is no rational way that one can say UND would be a better job for a football coach than SIU. SIU has it all over UND because of conference affiliation, playoff history in FCS football, no transition period to suffer through, and compensation. Plus, UND has the distractions of a lame duck President, no AD, and the nick name debacle. UND really needs to get these things taken care of as soon as possible so they are not distractions in the move up to D1.......

    Lennon gone

My initial bias is that it is irritating that coaches don't have much loyalty to an institution and the loyalty really is to the money, etc. However, reality in this world says that coaching is just a job and a coach like anyone else in the job market, look to move up and make more money. Flat and simple, that is what Lennon did. SIU it a top notch FCS program. Lennon very likely will be coaching in the playoffs next year. He has escaped the 5 years of playoff purgatory that UND will have to live through, and he has got a significant pay raise. In the end, a move up, easier job and more cash. Who can blame him. But, the emotional side of me says why would an alumnus and former player abandon his school in a time of great need. UND needs a solid coach to bring the Sioux through the transition and get the Sioux ready to make a playoff run as soon as they are eligible. It seems sh!tty to bail at this time..... Rational thoughts vs. emotional thoughts. Bottom line is no matter what division a school is in, most coaches will be looking to move up.....even if they have strong emotional ties to the university. Not really what I like, but that is the reality of coaching today. Best of luck to Lennon at SIU, and as I Bison fan, I am looking forward to Bohl and Company kicking some Saluki a$$ in the Gateway next year!
  10. Honestly, it would be stupid if the UND Athletic Dept. is not busting a$$ to get your game on TV. TV exposure can only help a program.
  11. Not blizzard........I have lived all over the US and being from North Dakota, I constantly get !@$! about the weather....
  12. Sounds like a day of drinking and TV!
  13. I was at the game and it was a tremendous atmosphere. Very electric from the Bison perspective! NDSU played a good game and deserved the W. But, I do feel that this game showed the difference between the Big 10 and FCS teams. The game was not a blowout except for the stats. Minnesota kept this Bison fan holding his breath.....and Minnesota is by far the worst in the Big 10. There is a huge difference between the Big 10 and the FCS! But.....I am one very happy Bison fan. Thanks for the kind remarks Sioux Fans.
  14. A poor journalist...........clearly a UND homer........
  15. OK.....I'll bite..... I really doubt the Sioux could stay with in 30 points of the Bison. The Bison are just that good.
  16. While a few Bison fans are hockey advocates, it seems that most of the fan base is not supportive and does not follow hockey. I for one like football and basketball. Hockey is alright to watch, but I won't ever go to much effort to attend a game or watch it on TV, really no appeal there for me. Therefore, I would rather see NDSU spend resources on FB and Basketball.
  17. A lot of us Bison supporters are not at all supportive of DI hockey at NDSU. We need to do Football and Basketball well, not expend resources on Hockey.
  18. My understanding from a relative that works in the Athletics Office at Minnesota, the game will start at 11:00am, TV is still being decided, but it will for sure be on the Big 10 network if no one else picks it up.
  19. My biggest worry with the Bison is what would we do if we had an injury in the Def. Seconday. We are thin there and that could be exploited. Other than that we should be as solid as ever in the Gopher Game............but, we have to get by a very tough Western Illinois team this weekend........that is what I am concerned about right now.
  20. I am surprised by the slow start of Davis and Poly, I expected more from them. One thing for sure, never over look either of those schools. They are always good competition.
  21. Good grief.......how much worse can it get at UNC.......pretty pathetic.
  22. Mesquite is 90 miles closer to Cedar City.....that is why I like Mesquite.....
  23. I was at our game with SUU last year. They were a poor team that was handled in quick fashion by the Bison. This year it seems that things may have changed. The buzz from the Griz fans is that SUU was a damn tough opponent and that the game at Washington Grizzly was much closer than indicated by the score. I don't think that anyone ought to take SUU for granted this year. By the way......some advice for those of you going to the game.........stay in Mesquite, NV rather than Cedar City, UT. Much better nightlife and golfing in Mesquite......
