I would have to agree that the BSC is painting itself into a bit of a corner by letting the west coast schools dictate where they expand. What the ultimate solution is, who knows..........Schools like Sac and PSU will never be the stability for that conference.

Well...........I kinda was excited about Bison Basketball last year.......winter would be damn long with out it!

I don't think anyone is "disappointed" with the MidCon. With the current make up of the MidCon NDSU will have a very real shot at going to the Big Dance in our first year of elgibility and that is fantastic. Yes, most of us did prefer the Big Sky, but after all the jacking around and delays, the MidCon is a good alternative. I also would agree that the Big Sky would provide more peer institutions and great gates with the Montana Schools, but we can still be playing them in OOC competition. All in all I think most NDSU fans are happy with a MidCon invite and having a realistic shot at the Big Dance in year one. Also to think that UND is a cinch for the Sky shows how foolish and out of touch with reality some UND fans are. To think that is not even credible.

I think NDSU has a reasonable shot at Ball State but to win against MN in football would be an upset of Wisconsin proportions. We could be the Gophers.....but it would be a shocker if we did....that is the reality of the situation and I think almost all Bison fans would agree with that. I would put our odds against the Gophs as being a bit worse than the Sioux against UNI.

To attempt to say Kuppy thought this thing out is BS. Kuppy made a stupid decision because he is not a visionary. The fans and alumni forced the move after seeing the success of NDSU. Kuppy has done little for UND.....I am surprised you guys try to defend him. The best admin guy at UND right now is your AD.....he really seems to have it together.

No one would love to see NDSU in the Big Sky more than me, but it isn't going to happen. The best bet for NDSU will be the GWFC and MidCon.........and with the MidCon having the BB autobid, that is great. Clearly UND's future is tied closely to NDSU and the GWFC/MidCon.........as for the Sky........no one would be more shocked than me if they did an about face and took the Bison...........

I was the one that refered to the MidCon as the "Fat Chick"........but hey.......if ya gotta get laid by the Fat Chick......it's better than NO chick....... And I still say the MidCon is not as desirable as the Big Sky, but you have to go with whom ever give you the invite......and in this case it is the MidCon and it will be a great home for the Bison......for now......The GWFC and no autobid does hurt however. The big plus with the MidCon is that with Valpo leaving, the autobid to the Big Dance is more up for grabs than ever. NDSU should be able to put a program together that will challenge for that slot immediately......and that is truely a great thing!

Mid Major conferences will always be a bit fluid and members will always be moving around.

The Midcon has now announced site visits over the summer to NDSU, SDSU and IPFW. I would suspect that means barring anything strange happening the MidCon will take three and extend the invites at an upcoming meeting of the Presidents. Mid Con Release

....also worth noting is that is has been reported that there will be no news from the MidCon meeting until Wed.

If we think long term, the best conference destination for both NDSU and UND (SDSU too) would be what ever conference Montana and Montana State are in. Perhaps the MidCon is an iterim step in getting there.

That's where I am coming from on this. NDSU will be absolutely dependent on an at large bid.

Bottom line.....NDSU can't play UND until you are a DI counter. It will not happen until that time. Right now NDSU has to be very careful to maximize our standing in the polls, and once we are playoff eligible, have a schedule that will make a strong case for an at large playoff bid.......

I would really doubt that Bunning would make such bold statements unless it was a part of a scheme to allow Kuppy to save some face and back off from his hard line on being anti-DI.

Oh, I agree with that. No doubt the Big Sky would be better, but it isn't realistic for now. On the otherhand, being in the MidCon with no Valpo may mean that the Dakota schools will have a decent shot each year at going to the NCAA......and I do like that.

It is silly to think that the Big Sky will take any of us. With the current makeup of Presidents, the Sky does not see North Dakota (the entire state) as with in its footprint. The expansion to 12 teams is all but dead. It seems that right now the only options for schools located in the Dakotas will be the MidCon/GWFC path. I obviously don't like that as well as the Sky, but then again I am more of a football fan than anything. The two things I don't like about the MidCon/GWFC route are: 1- No autobid for the GWFC and there will not be an autobid in the near future. 2- No schools in the MidCon that will spur a great rivalry. If another school were to leave the MidCon I suspect it would they would not depart until 2008, and that is the year that the SUs beecome elgible for the post season. That will keep the autobid for the MidCon in BB. What any North Dakota school in the MidCon/GWFC needs to do for OOC games is work like hell to get both Montana schools on the schedule....They are the best part of the Big Sky. AS for Sac State going D1A, I will believe it when I see it. They are the doormat of the Sky and in no position to make a move.....
