I agree that it is BS. And, in a way NDSU is getting hosed, but then again we knew the rules when we moved up......and I think most of us have enjoyed the hell out of this season anyway. It just goes to show that you can have a lot of fun even in "Transition Purgatory". Plus, the quality of teams coming to NDSU has really helped increase average attendance despite the lack of playoffs.

The academic requirements for DI are more rigerous that those of D2. I think the transition is in large part to allow for that difference in academics.

Rutgers is WAY out of the wilderness. Clearly they are the cinderella favorite this year. I hope they put a smacking on WV...........

There are a lot of NDSU Alums in the West. I would also suspect that the pattern for UND is similar. other than MN, I would suspect there are large numbers of UND alums in Denver, Seattle, and Phoenix. Montana also probably has a lot of alums. I would actually argue that when MN is removed, there are more alums in the West than the East. Here is a map of the NDSU alumni distribution.

It is official. WKU board of Regents has just voted 7-2-1 to move to DI-A. This opens up a pretty significan Gateway possibility for the xDSUs.........and has ripple effects for UxDs.....

I don't think there will be any conference invites for the UxDs until they are a year or two from eligibility. I would think that there would need to be some teams leaving the MidCon or the Gateway to open up a spot for the UxDs, but who knows where that will be in 5 years. The conference affilliations seem to always have some turmoil and change going on. The big problem for the UxDs is that an ineligible school does not help a conference maintain the minimum number for an autobid.....

I would suspect the folks at the Big Sky are getting a little up tight............especially with Northern Colorado floundering so bad.......

With next year being your exploratory year you will still be D2, play in the NCC and be eligible for the D2 playoffs.

9 is best for FB scheduling so they will take two. As to Bins comment about whether or not it is good for UND.....This may finally be a wake up call for the Montana schools to take a stand against Sac State and PSU and let the footprint cover the Dakotas. If they don't do that, the only expansion option in the West for the Big Sky would be SUU and that is just another directional school with mediocre academics. If another Gateway team were to leave (in the next 5 years), and NDSU and SDSU were members of the Gateway, it would not be beyond the realm of possibility that UND could move after a stint in the GWFC. I would suspect the conference options from UND will not be very good until post season eligibility is at hand. I am not sure what Cal Poly and UC Davis will do. They are great schools with great programs that have been a lot of fun to compete against.

That would definitely open up the GWFC for UND and USD (if USD makes the jump). I guess it is good news all the way around!

A stadium on campus is a key to getting that "college gameday" atmosphere. That collegiate atmosphere is why NCAA sports are so much more fun to watch than the pros. Get off campus and you loose that feel....

If the Bison are going to win the remaining games they can't make the mistakes they made of Saturday that handed the W to the gophers. I am sure Bohl will be working hard on the turnover and penatly issue that cost us the game.

An interesting issue in this whole thing is that inorder for the GWFC to get an autobid we need a minimum of 6 post season eligible teams to play together for 2 years. UND does not help us with a solution to this in the near term as you guys are a long ways from that magical post season eligibility. IF the GWFC could steal a member that is already eligible from elsewhere, it would really speed along an autobid. NDSU will be watching moves in the Gateway closely as WKU is bolting for D-IA. The million dollar question is will that generate interest from the Gateway in NDSU.......who knows. There are a lot of good arguments on either side of that one........

If the games are conference games there would be no payment.....just a home and home. If not conference games, Jim's scenario may work. I think one thing is for sure.......it is likely to happen and it seems that Bunning is a reasonable guy for NDSU to be working with......
