Good lord.....this was just a post about the new FCS Board. Let's leave it at that......

Part of the reason the new board got going was to get away from the goofy stuff Ralph on AGS was pulling. If you call it DI-AA at the new board.....I doubt that anyone would say a thing, and people will know damn well what you mean.

I just wanted to let you Sioux fans know that there is a new FCS Board starting up. Chris from Egriz is starting it and it should be a totally fan based board. He does a great job with Egriz. Stop over and check it out. New FCS Board

I agree that the loss of Valpo is not helping the Summit.

I know......My western bias......but, the Summit or Mid-Con has more success and is rated higher in BB than the Big Sky. I just would like the opportunity to take a whack at Montana and Montana State every year. And....at the time I wrote that I would have never guessed that NDSU would get an invite to the Gateway. But, the Big Sky was my top choice back then (as opposed to a GWFC/Mid-Con pair). The down side to the Gateway may be that it is so top heavy that the teams may just beat the hell out of each other every year. Could make it a challenge to get the autobid to the playoffs.

I agree.....the Bison will never look at the Big Sky now. They are going to be in better conferences for both BB and FB.

Just because your FB coach may head to Bozeman does not mean your AD sucks. Geez......give him a break. He seems to be a pretty decent AD.....

It is being reported that Mike Van Deist is now going to stay at Carroll and has removed himself from the Montana State search process. This virtually assures that Lennon will be the next Montana State coach.

I think it will be MVD. The Montanans will stay with a guy they know from Carroll College. And......I think they will be missing the boat by not hiring Lennon.

I would think that it would make a lot of sense to look at him. But, you never know what options you will have or who will apply when a job opens up.....

Anything......Flickertails doesn't generate a great image for the State of North Dakota......You could try Cowboys, but my fine state of Wyoming would sue (hell, they went after Breckenridge High!). Just not Flickertails........

First of all, I have to say that I am tired of all this discussion as well.....Hopefully it will start to disappear as each school goes its own way. I actually thought a few months ago, after UND's announcement they were going DI, that the rivalry would resume when UND became a DI counter. Now I don't think it will happen any time in the near future. The key to that is NDSU getting into the Gateway. I suspect that with only a couple dates for OOC games after admission to the Gateway, those OOC dates will go to other schools. If UND develops into a FCS powerhouse team there may be more incentive to meet the Bison OOC, but only time will tell. Anyway, I doubt we will see a NDSU/UND game in the near future.

I have no doubt that the UND attendance will go up as better teams come to play in Grand Forks. If I were the UND AD I would be on the phone to the Griz and and go play them in Missoula. That would start generating a lot of interest....especially if you beat them (a lot of fun because it upsets the Griz fans so much!). I wouldn't try and get a home and home or a 2 away for 1 home with the Griz as they will probably just execute the buyout so they wouldn't have to play an away game. I also think the size of the indoor arenas in both Fargo and Grand Forks may get to be an issue. The way things are going capacity will get reached and then there is the big problem that it is almost impossible to expand the seating of either. FBS games will be a big factor in increasing funding as is the private donations and an active booster club. But, the more butts you can get in the seats on Saturday, the more buzz a program will generate.

The bottom line is you need to get your attendance for football up significantly to help fund the DI move......that was my only point before all this sioux fan whining took off..........Geez.....

I am just stating a fact. If the fact that the Bison out draw the Sioux by about double pisses you off.....too bad. Facts are facts and if UND is making the jump to DI you better close the gap. I can tell you this.....I had 2 extra tickets to the SDSU game, the day of the game the line in the Fargodome was about 90 minutes long to by tickets. When I asked if anyone was interested in bying my extra seats I was damn near trampled by salivating fans.

That figure needs to improve to get the revenue for DI. I would think that with better teams coming to play the Sioux attendance will rise. The attendance at NDSU has increased every year since leaving D2. This years average was 16,377.

Despite what the folks in Missoula think, that is a very accurate statement.......I know because I am from Williston.

Calling Bohl a "jerk" is seems a pretty baseless accusation. What are you basing that on? I have found Craig Bohl to be intelligent, witty and a real asset to NDSU.

I posted a link to McFeely's blog over on Any Given Saturday and I see I have drawn the rancor of the UNC fans (all three of them).

The one thing the Big Sky will always have to offer either UNDor NDSU is a rivalry with the Montana schools. Those would be absolutely huge games. I don't think either the Mid Con or the Gateway can match that with the exception of playing SDSU.
