  1. You can bet part of the new SU "Director of Football Recruiting" will include conducting background checks. Can bail money be included in COA?
  2. I remember Tony when he played football at UND - I don't think it will be an issue to get him to name a price for Roughriders. As the story mentions the letter was only informational it did not allude to the name not being available for use by UND.
  3. Glass houses. just sayin. Once again we are forced to ask the question what value do these posters bring to OUR fan site discussions? There have been offers to help with troll management, there have been numerous discussions on the need for better management of trolls who are obviously here just to derail discussions. Mods - you continue to lose UND posters and have them replaced with trolls. You encourage them to come here with threads like this. This should be a place where UND supporters can come and discuss UND sports and yes sometimes have some fun dissing other teams without the constant barrage of trolls. If I want to talk with SU fanatics I know where to find them under the rock called Bison-swill.
  4. It's time for the New Orlean's Saints defensive strategy - the one they used against Favre in the playoff - hint a 15 yard penalty was part of the strategy.
  5. I remember a couple of years ago Montana came to Grand Forks and the word was Vernon Adams was hurt and not gonna play, listed as injured blah, blah...Even had some Montana fans tailgating with us who were a little droopy about him not playing. Guess what he played. I know the game "isn't important" to their fans but you can bet he's not going to miss a chance to play UND. I'm hoping Carson's mom doesn't enjoy the game.
  6. Do yourself and everyone here a favor and stop coming here.
  7. Injuries are a part of the game - they can also be a game changer. Sack City get ready!
  8. Is this a hot time for recruiting? I'm thinking the conversation on funding COA doesn't need to be done in the media or even to the general public right now. I'm pretty sure the conversation is happening with those who will eventually be asked to fund it and I'm thinking there will be an appeal to Champions Club Members when the time is right. I really don't see how being first is an advantage when eventually everyone is going to be at the table with the same offer - some people/organizations need to be first and that goes back to ego, insecurity, alumni pressure perhaps- but at the end of the day so what? If your biggest beef is "another example of SU being first" you are focused on the wrong school.
  9. I didn't say he wasn't operating a vehicle what the story said was he was cited for "Minor Zero Tolerance" - yes he was driving but according to the story that didn't come into play with the citation. Yes let's move on - hopefully this is a valuable lesson for the entire team.
  10. Actually the story said he was cited for "Minor Zero Tolerance" no reference to anything about driving. Hopefully the team sees this as a warning that everything is a distraction - no excuses for anyone. Interesting that the Forum chose to post this story on their website - slow news weekend on the police blotter in the Fargo as their football team was out of town. Let's get back on focus - our season starts this weekend.
  11. Prediction: Outside Grand Forks: Roughrider in a landslide Inside Grand Forks: Roughrider and Fighting Hawks a little closer but Roughrider wins I just hope they don't screw up the voting process. I have been active for more than 20 years and get called every 3 months for money and didn't get an email about the upcoming vote. When I went into their system they had my email address correct.
  12. Geez you would think for an attorney that guy would have done a little better research - his proposals are so full of holes it's embarrassing that got printed in a newspaper. For one thing, those within the tribes and those liberals working "for the good of the Native Americans" have no interest in revenue sharing - they just want the Fighting Sioux name gone because it is the one school left they figured out the NCAA would bully into submission. I can't say but I've never heard that any money from UND Sioux clothing ever went to a special fund, certainly not within the last 10 years. in fact that is a sticking point with those that Native American Cultural Center whenever the statement about them getting their education paid for is thrown out. If there was a time that money would have talked it would have been decades ago. Spirit Lake was already on board without any money. 75% of Standing Rock lives in South Dakota and has bigger problems and doesn't want to vote no matter what. If UND was to wave money at them now imagine the outcry from those who are "looking out for the best interests of the Native Americans".
  13. Hope our defense has continued its improvement from last year because there is no way our offense can make a jump that big from last year - it can be better but it won't be like the Porshes we saw today. Could we pull off an upset - well it happens several times every Saturday and it could start next Saturday.
  14. What team is this thread about again?
  15. What "Nancy" is worried about whether or not the uniform matches - stop wasting 10 minutes every day matching your belt to your shoes and learn something useful like smoking a pork butt.
  16. The point I want to ask is - if I haven't received an email from UND today does that mean they don't have my email address. I find that hard to believe since I get a phone call about every three months "just to make sure we have your current contact information" followed by a request for money. By the way has anyone received their Champions Club membership cards yet?
  17. Or "Now watch as this thread turns the process into a flaming disaster".
  18. Back away from the ledge - now the discussion is that fans can't wear FIghting Sioux clothing to away games? And the thought is that there would be a big enough complaint from host schools that the NCAA would take action - now that's just frickin ridiculous. What if I wear a shirt that has an eagle feather on it?
  19. Perhaps the text should have read "State of Confusion" - this stuff writes itself.
  20. So it all comes down to this; Pick a name, any name FIghting Sioux continues as the unofficial nickname and nothing changes as far as crowd cheering, wearing Sioux gear to games etc, - of course the lack of access to Fighting Sioux clothing means an evolution will take place but it could take at least a decade. Based on my personal experience I know there are many current students who have a connection to Fighting Sioux and won't be the first on the new nickname bandwagon. Any complaints about Sioux cheers would be baseless since UND has a new nickname.
  21. Yup - the outline on the shirt is the border of South Dakota. Well it appears with the possibility of UND being "North Dakota" SU has chosen to take South Dakota.
  22. No matter where you fall on North Dakota as the nickname you have to admit the whole "UND could be sanctioned if fans cheer Fighting Sioux" is a big ruse. I've read Sports Illustrated stories about Stanford graduates still wearing Redmen shirts and we all know that there are many Warriors Forever fans in Marquette. So why hasn't there ever been any threats from the NCAA to those schools about wearing Redman/Warrior logos to playoffs or cheers? It just seems too convenient that the NCAA is willing to throw out threats like that at UND - when it is obvious that Kelly and others internally at UND don't want North Dakota as the nickname. And we all know where those at Forum Communications stand - they are giving way too much credence to an "If" then "Perhaps" comment from the NCAA.
  23. Just thinking that Kelly must have received a few calls or at least calls from some pretty important UND boosters for him to go to the media and say he would consider putting North Dakota back on the ballot - that doesn't happen because of the threat of a gathering in a park. Then again it isn't back on the list yet so maybe he has no intention of adding it back - it was just to prevent thousands from showing up at a park gathering (sarcasm).
  24. I don't see how you can make a connection between how many people show up at a last-minute rally in Grand Forks or give money to a bus fund with the number of people who prefer just "North Dakota" for a variety of reasons. There is no connection.
  25. No concern - just tweeting for diamonds in the rough and looking for depth - you never know what's out there. Best wishes to the Hartness boys but the reality is they were walk-ons - nothing wrong with that but it's not like we had two scholarship athletes quit.
