President Andy was in attendance, so at least he thought the tournament was worth supporting. St Thomas, USD, NDSU and SDSU all had hospitality rooms over the weekend. There were several empty rooms going unused. The Champions Club did save some money by "waiting until Monday" to host a room. It did not take St Thomas long to rise to the top.

SDSU wins natty in football and has both BB teams favored to go to The Dance. What do they have that UND does not?
-
Scoreboard showed one timeout left when game ended.
-
Hard not to see that having a social at a regular season hockey game in Omaha usurped any effort at the Summit.
-
Hoping for a nice contingency at the game. The path is clear, just play our game
-
Made it in the room no problem Saw one other UND fan today (Saturday), not unlikely as we start tomorrow. Always a home game for the SDSU teams but their fans show up.
-
Denver upsets KC. Brunner's ankle is an issue. I think this game set the unofficial record for most air balls in a game. Table is set for UND, just take care of Omaha Sunday.

Isn't it just like tailgating - step up and someone hands you a beverage

Agreed last year's room was just the right size, it was actually crowded at times and UND made it nice and welcoming. Our teams need to get better and road fans will follow. However having semis and finals on Monday/Tuesday is a buzz kill.
-
Actually fan support was pretty good this year, they put an entertaining competitive team on the court and fans responded. Watching some road games on Midco and our home crowds compared well if not better. The media in Fargo was begging fans to attend so games.

A friend reached out to UND and the response they got back was about what you would expect from a hockey school. Not having anything on Sunday as there are no social rooms available (like this event was a surprise) but plans for a room on Monday/Tuesday if teams advance. Based on their record Sunday would have been the only opportunity for a pre-game gathering for the women's BB team. Friend said last year SDSU, USD and NDSU had large gathering rooms - guess we'll have to duck into their rooms pre-game.
-
Just checked UND Insider - has UND announced if they are having a social room at the Summit Tournament? Seems a bit odd that nothing is obvious on the website. Really not wanting to have to go down this path.

He just likes to stir the pot - outside of the bizon he is clueless and classless.
-
I thought I read Zander left for personal reasons. We have signed a couple of ND high school players, just hoping they are DI caliber.
-
Yep - high hopes for the men, support for the women.
-
Neither were an answer, both had reasons for where they are outside of basketball. Glad they had good years but much lower level of competition. (I realize this team lost to Mayville).
-
Would Paul Bruns still have been a thing on this team? I realize he wanted to play with his brother but wasn't it alluded that there was some tampering that went on with his transfer to USD? Karma for him to be on the wrong end of both games this year.
-
Personally I hope they play their A game and send Bruns on a long bus ride home with a loss. It's a one bid league so finish strong and watch what happens in Sioux Falls, unfortunately this tournament is always a home game for SDSU.

Needs to be two threads: Portal good news, Portal take a deep breath.

It was fun. UND has a hospitality room with refreshments and a great chance to visit with like-minded fans and meet the parents of the players and not saying that things can't change, but based on conversations I was in, I came away feeling confident we were not going to lose any of our young stars - which proved true.
-
Back on my calendar (no haters I was there last year).
-
Where do you see those funds coming from?
-
So does this make it appear like the only reason our assistant coach's salaries are competition is because Bubba has been declining raises and passing the money down?
-
Really? Does it matter where they come from? Seem a little small-town thinking.

Just when I was getting interested in attending the tournament - would like to feel we would be playing beyond the first round both women and men.
