What I like about De Rouen: hard-nosed, can score, not afraid of getting down and dirty. What I don't like about De Rouen: undisciplined, takes bad shots, makes bad fouls. Not sure what he's like in the locker room - appears he could go either way there. He does add some nice depth to the team just needs a little more court discipline.

2015 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
CMSioux replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Men's Basketball
All the majority here have ever said is that when comparing the Big Sky to the Slummit as far as which is better it is pretty darn close and varies from year to year - they are both lower mid-majors and one bid conferences. So when things flip flop it's fun to poke the bi-son. Remember what site you are on. -
2015 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
CMSioux replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Men's Basketball
Wait a minute the "weaker" Big Sky gets an 13 seed and "Mighty" Summit gets a 15 behind Albany and UAB - heads are going to explode. (Yes trolls I know UND isn't in this NCAA tournament - I know it's easy to forget what fan site you are on.) -
Well actually if he took his team his first year some would say he did it with someone else's recruits.
-
Not only would UND have chosen the Big Sky over the Summit so would have FU - if they would have been invited. To say that FU was not interested in the Big Sky is misleading or outright false.

Never said people didn't have a right to create threads and post opinions - just shared MY OPINION that a "Fire coach" threads create a lot of negative energy - which is an opinion I have a right to share. There is plenty of thread drift in every thread and they are actually like a train wreck you have to look just to see what happened. I do agree with your point that it's better to keep it in one thread - but that isn't working because the same people create thread drift in many other threads. I think by now we know how the Coach Firers roll and who they are. Could we just start using numbers to rehash the same points - you could easily save a lot of time by just posting "See comment #1" everyday.
-
My only opinion is that a lot of negative fan energy is wasted on this topic - the season(s) were a disappointment, the AD knows it. Now if you have no trust in the AD then that's a different topic. Is it okay for fans to express displeasure - yup everyone's allowed their opinion - what gets old here is being told you are a Jones Apologist, apethetic, don't care about winning, etc when you join in the discussion. I don't think the Fire Mussman Thread had any impact on his job - prove me wrong - but it did create a very negative thread for more than two seasons.
-
Geez - go back a few hundred pages the discussion on attendance - based on schedule, Tuesday/Thursday night games, loss of double headers, regional rivalrys, etc - has been hashed and rehashed attendance has been consistent. I do realize it could be better but the reality is when you are getting 12,000 people Friday/Sturday over at the Ralph that tells you what sport is and always will be more popular. Duke/North Carolina etc are all experiencing a downward trend in attendance - I suppose that is a reflection on the coaching? " A Chronicle of Higher Education analysis published in March found that about one in five programs has seen attendance drops of 20 percent or more over the past four seasons."
-
I'm not questioning that there is dissatisfaction with the BB season this year - actually both seasons but I also have to say that any individuals opinion about "public sentiment" is purely conjecture - of course if you did an actual poll that would be quantatative and I'm sure with the bad taste of both seasons fresh the results would not be positive - I highly doubt the majority of "public opinion" would say the coach(es) need to be fired. Even on this board it's not the "general sentiment".
-
They are also savvy enough to know that you don't gauge public opinion from a chat room.
-
What a surprise - I never would have guessed that a bison alum would choose Fargo over Grand Forks - you guys excel at high jacking threads to feed your insecurity. To each his own every town has its pluses and minuses. I like being able to go the mall and not worrying about my kids getting flashed, or knowing that when I sign a petition it's going to be accepted by the state (see what I did here).

If you are trying to build excitement and an audience you have to commit to promoting all aspects of it. Do a quick check of what other schools do to promote their spring football games - they make it an event. UND gave it a shot a few years ago with their spring tailgating competitions but now seems to have dropped the ball.
-
Great example coming up - let's see what they do to create interest in the spring football scrimmage - last year was less than horrible. But a pre-season hockey game against Manitoba - pull out the stops.

Here's the story (joke) about the three envelopes. A young coach had just been hired as the new coach at a bigger university. The coach who was stepping down met with him privately and presented him with three numbered envelopes. "Open these when you run into problems with the alumni." he said. Well, things went along pretty smoothly, but a few months later, the season took a downturn and he was really catching a lot of heat. About at his wit's end, he remembered the envelopes. He went to his drawer and took out the first envelope. The message read, "Blame the previous coach." The new coach called a press conference and tactfully laid the blame at the feet of the previous coach. Satisfied with his comments, the alumni responded positively, things began to pick up and the issue was soon behind him. The next season the team was again experiencing a dip in wins, and the message boards were getting heated. Having learned from his previous experience, the coach quickly opened the second envelope. The message read, "Reorganize your staff." This he did, and the team turned things around. After several consecutive successful seasons, the team once again fell on difficult times. The coach went to his office, closed the door and opened the third envelope. The message said, "Prepare three envelopes."

http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=6405&DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=209951228 For those AD wannabe's - doesn't look like the position will be opening soon.
-
Well that seals it for me - let Jones know to get his three envelopes ready.
-
This is tiresome but with the crack job John Boy got with his degree from FU it appears to be his only joy in life. You must also remember that there were two generations of FU fans that never saw a playoff game in the FU Dome in that time period.
-
It's great to have depth in our conference we need a couple of teams in the Frozen Four.
-
Now that is ironic - back in the 80s we had a spring party on a farm we called the "Race to Reynolds" it got so big we had shirts made one year and the cars were backed out onto the gravel road.
-
I realize that none of these names are unique but none of these schools has UND's baggage either. I'd like to note that the name suggested was "Brave" not Braves.
-
Except they could have said "It's hostile and abusive as a school icon stop using it" but the NCAA doesn't want anyone to use it.
-
Sadly I think this is correct. It's the same thinking the NCAA gave when they required UND to protect the Fighting Sioux nickname - which means they continue to make and sell a small amount of the "hostile and abusive" logo. The NCAA knew that if they required UND to retire and never use it the logo and name would become rampant.

Time to thin the herd on this site.
