  1. My family is from Crosby. But, that's not it. My point was that, like Goon said, it's the small town experience. You can get that in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, etc. But to prop up Minnesota to be some kind of cool epicenter of the universe is just a part of their illusory superiority complex. From their perspective, people in New York City think MPL-STP is full of backwoods hicks. Even I make fun of some things about North Dakota - it's got its quirks. But, it's a great place to grow up and live. Just like many places in the USA. Heck, Colorado obviously has weirdness too...The whole legalization of marijuana in this state has made it a joke in the nation. Fort Collins in a few short years has went from allowing the sale of medical marijuana, to disallowing it, to allowing it. Now, they have to decide if the medical marijuana shops can sell to anyone, not just those with $100 bucks to pay some doctor to rubber stamp a pot prescription. (Okay, here's the way it works. Pot is legal by state law, not by federal law. The feds will probably leave Colorado and Washington alone as long as it doesn't get out of control. You can possess a small amount, grow a small amount throughout the state. Growing it has to be under lock and key inside the home, not out in a garden for example. Throughout the state, you can smoke it in your home,or other peoples homes, but not in public. Home rule will decide if "pot shops" will sell retail...in other words Boulder will probably allow retail sale with a hefty sales tax, but Greeley will probably not. Colorado residents can buy larger amounts, about an ounce, than non residents who are restricted to about 1/4 of an ounce. Now, if that isn't mind-blowing, I do not know what is! And, no...I do not smoke pot.) Wildfires in the mountains of the front range cause smoke and ash to float over Fort Collins for good chunks of the summer. We have weird water laws, dry lawns, and empty lakes due to the drought, Heavy traffic and overcrowding in a state that since 1990 has went from under 3 million people to well over five million. We also have beautiful mountain scenery, great brew pubs all over the place, tons of summer and winter activities, sun about 300 days a year, and a fairly moderate climate. Just like anyplace, there is the bad with the good.
  2. Well, I live in Colorado. So, to me, a waste of vacation time is going to Minnesota. Next week, I will be in North Dakota. I like my small town. I get a good weeks rest visiting my family and relaxing. It's quiet and quaint. If not for family, I probably wouldn't visit North Dakota. But, I never go to Minnesota. What do they have that would interest me?
  3. FU could beat the 49'ers. They would have had to take the Ravens to OT only to lose on a bad call..
  4. That Wikipage is wrong...(Imagine that!) KFJM was airing on FM long before 1995... I know. I was a student slave there back in the day its major format was classical music.
  5. Jeez, maybe we're better off just going by "North Dakota"... How about "Screaming North Dakota"?
  6. Sometimes, though it is the team the have the most success with that defines with who they wish to be remembered. Gary Zimmerman, for example, played more years with the Vikings, but chose to be remembered as a Bronco for induction to the Hall of Fame. However, with these set of twins, no doubt they would want to be remembered as UND (Sioux!) players.
  7. I like them all. Except put the word, "Screaming" in front of them. Screaming Wombats. Screaming Penguins Screaming Llamas Screaming Muskies Screaming Anchormen Screaming Kangaroos... I'm tellin ya, we need to use the word, "Screaming"....
  8. I'm sticking with the Screaming Weasels. We can even steal this for our jerseys!
  9. Morris is a Tiger. Cool that he helped the Twins, but he's a Tiger.
  10. Honestly, I don't see a problem with it. (Now, have to wash my hands after agreeing with a Gopher fan...)
  11. Having not read the article, I am assuming they made reference only to the Gophers as their former college team. Well, that would, of course, be wrong. It would have been more appropriate to say, "Former Gopher players that finished their college careers with North Dakota". Of course, I would have written, "Former Rodent players that saw the error of their ways, rejected that program and helped lead the University of North Dakota to a promising future in women's college hockey". But, I am a bit biased.
  12. I don't know. Only the truly gullible would let something like that slide...
  13. Apparently I'm supposed to insult you. Let me see... Uh, your mother dresses you funny? Does that count?
  14. Goodness. He used the word, "secede" which is an English word with an entirely different meaning. I thought you were using the Spanish word for having success, conjugated properly to the third person would be "sucede". I should have known better. That Vo-Tech school doesn't extend your skills very far. But, I am concerned about your anger management. After all, planting season must have been rough on you kids this year. Also, "Sic" is right. The big five...and I mean BIG 5 conferences can leave the NCAA if they wanted and form their own college football organization. Whatever they formed would be considered the top level of college football for years to come. They could do it as soon as they wanted. Outside of those conferences, other college football conferences and programs are fairly irrelevant as far as the big dollar contracts and TV ratings go...
  15. Gotta show us when it's finished. I'm leaning toward keeping my benches indoors... OR improve the garage bar..
  16. Well, to help out this upcoming fall semester for our Vo Tech buddies, I found a link to their bookstore so they can order their textbooks http://www.thesmartfarmer.com/farm-equipment/tractor-manuals-and-books/john-deere-tractor-repair-manuals.aspx :
  17. I'm surprised Toews didn't get called for diving...
  18. Just another NDSU drunkard. I wonder if there's a video of him in the backseat of a Fargo police car?
  19. My brother just picked up a set for me....oh, it's gonna look good by my firepit too! Stoked!
  20. Sucede? Heck, I didn't know that tractor repairman spoke Spanish! I guess it would come in handy working with migrant workers on the farm. Sorry, I'm not very good with using keyboard commands in Spanish.
  21. You've got to be kidding me. You are actually comparing the most powerful five conferences in college football potentially leaving the NCAA to form their own college sports organization to the beginnings of the United States Civil war? That's the stupidest thing I have read on the internet in a while, and I've read LakesBison.
  22. Oh, Lord. I snorted milk out my nose over that! (In those days, I would have snorted beer...) Of course, I'd probably start chanting, "Go back, go back, go back to the woods..."
