  1. Go Minot tomorrow! Should be a good one.
  2. Off topic kind of here. How does Detroit Lakes, such a small town and all, seem to produce so many good football players?
  3. I like everything about Mr. Mollberg. Keep up the good recruiting and development of players, and we will be a solid team going into the Big Sky.
  4. Excellent article. Marvin Windows has a significant North Dakota presence. They have a factory in Grafton and they also own Integrity which is located in Fargo.
  5. It was a long afternoon of waiting, but what I suspected you were talking about was true. I have never seen that movie but have been meaning to watch it. Hopefully it is good.
  6. I have looked up the numbers for last season. The Force had 30 home dates with an average attendance of 3506. The Bison had 13 home dates with an average attendance of 3305. Also, Sioux hockey had 20 home dates last year (not counting two exhibitions). I do not know what the average number of home dates for a college hockey team is, but I would guess it is higher then the average number of home dates for a college basketball team. It seems NDSU would be wise to invest in a sport that has higher support in their city as well as more home dates. 7. Again, NDSU basketball is not the most popular winter sport in Fargo. A hockey team playing in one of the feeder leagues for college hockey is.
  8. A couple of things. As has been pointed out, the thread title says it all about the criteria. Why would you only count core sports though? Athletic departments must follow the law (title IX), so that partially dictates what sports they will have. Also, athletic departments must make decisions about which sports they want and what they think will bring in the most money and be the most attractive to their fans. There are lots of decisions that go into this process and every athletic department must make them. So it only makes sense to compare entire athletic departments in this sense. Now if you just want to compare football and basketball, have it at, but really, all that indicates is how popular those two sports are; it doesn't give proper representation to the entire athletic department of the school (it can still be a good comparison though). I love agriculture. I believe NDSU is making a mistake by not pursing hockey. In past years, the Force have had higher average attendance then NDSU basketball (I believe the Force have more home games as well). The Force are in the USHL, one of the primary feeder leagues for UND and college hockey. The fact that they are out attending NDSU basketball says something for the popularity of hockey in the region that NDSU is located in.
  9. You are correct. The incompetence is going to cost the area dearly.
  10. Minot Daily News Lots of development proposed and going on out west.
  11. I'm a huge Notre Dame fan so of course I liked Notre Dame's retros. But having said that, I do kinda prefer the blue over the green. I thought Michigan's retros were really nice. Edit: Exciting game to watch, but it stinks Notre Dame lost.
  12. I am really curious about this now. Does anyone have an answer?
  13. Well nd1sufan, why don't you pick the home game that you think will be the biggest one of the year for you guys, and then let us know what the attendance is for that game?
  14. After the game tonight, does any reasonable person still think that UND and NDSU shouldn't be playing in all sports? There is no doubt in my mind, that the rivalry should be happening in every sport every year. Go Sioux!
  15. UND has done something wrong. They are planning on retiring the nickname. They have announced their intention to have the name gone by the new year.
  16. Why are all you guys freaking out? The majority of the people in ND wanted to keep the Sioux nickname by passing a state law. The majority of state legislators as well as the governor agreed and followed the will of the people and did exactly that. Carlson happens to be the leader of the majority in the legislator. He also sent a letter saying that NDUS and UND should comply with state law. What has he done wrong?
