I think you're missing the point of the letter. Bison, eagles, wolves, and other animals have always had a special place in NA religious and cultural life. By using the argument that these "icons" are essentially being blasphemed by teams using them as mascots, the writer is taking a similar tack that was used to attack UND's use of the Sioux name/logo. If that argument gains traction, 'su, BC, Maine, Michigan, BSU, Wisconsin, etc. could be facing their own little wars since somebody took it upon themselves to be offended by their use of "religious" symbols.

IIRC, there was interest from some other WCHA schools like Denver and Wisco. I believe some MJ teams may have been interested as well. However, it's been a few years, and I could be mistaken.

So, in reality: Money talks and bullsh** walks.

Anyone know of a way to make this dude stop insulting UND?

It's the teacher's own fault he had to settle for 'su. -
I hear ya. Then Sensations would have 2 for 1 mixed drinks at 6 or so, and we'd stumble upstairs for a few hours. Good times ...

I remember that one. They waited until the early evening to announce it to keep students from packing up and heading for an early weekend when the weather was so bad. My buddies and I went over to The Down Under (is that place even around any more?) and drank $1 teas till closing. One of my more classic hangovers at UND ...

I always enjoyed the prop heads from California or Florida who complained about the cold, but wore open-toed sandals or warm weather clothes to class in January to show off their tans.

We've been riding him most of the season, and I suppose it good be wearing on him.

Heh. I looked at mine too. The took it before I replaced the shutters and when the lawn was recovering from a fungus. If somebody wants to buy my house I may be screwed ... Wonder if they'll let me send a new pic or Photoshop ...

Here's the first ground view ... Actually, I will not be surprised if so ornery NoDak farmer or rancher sues Google for "invasion of privacy".

Not exactly on topic, but here's a bit of interesting news that could bode well for the future in some respects. They did a similar thing to repeal rate ceilings at the behest of US Bank and Wells Fargo in the mid-90s. Duh. That's the main reason most companies incorporate in Delaware or Nevada. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1228520510...us_marketplace#

I'm not ready to trash the season yet, but it seems this team takes a step back for every step or two forward. There's not a lot of consistent play, and it seems this team is having difficulty gelling right now. I hope they look at the calendar because the important months ending in "y" are right around the corner, and the schedule will not be easy.

Sadly, the Sioux are not even good right now. Mediocre might be about right though.
-
They remind me of "Participant" ribbons. Just show up, and you get something.
-
I tend to agree. I'd go for more balanced scoring across the lines rather than trying to rely on 1-2 lines that waste so many opportunities as seems to be the case the past few teams. Sometimes, when I'm able to watch a game live or catch a vids, I feel like I'm watching a JV team.

Some of my fondest memories of UND hockey were watching Rory McMahon forecheck anybody he could find. Prpich had that ability too. I think it helped set the tone for the rest of the team during those games.

"Blue chippers" aren't the answer. Getting everybody to do their damn jobs, and play up to their potential, is the answer. IMHO this team suffers from a profound lack of leadership on the bench and on the ice. No team with this abundance of talent should be playing this poorly, and inconsistently.

God, give a guy a blog and watch him make an ass of himself.

I vaguely remember some sort of exhibition game in the F-M area probably in the late 70s. Maybe against a foreign team. I could be wrong about that one, but I definitely remember them playing Soviet teams in GF, like Torpedo Gorky. Damn fine sweaters if you can find one ...

And be completely frustrated by Lemaire's "offensive" scheme, just like Gaborik.

I detest the unbalanced schedule as it is. I'd rather see the Sioux play two series, each season with Wisco and Minnesota, rather than the current setup with SCCC as our "natural opponent". Bringing in Bemidji or whomever only screws it up even more. Moreover, given how the Wisco-Minnesota-UND games are almost always sold out in the biggest barns in the league, you would think the clueless leadership in the WCHA would see these rivalries as a perennial cash machine.
-
That might be part of the problem right there. The Sioux gutted out a good win on Friday, and then forgot to show up when it mattered on Saturday. If he's "pleased" with that, he really needs to reconsider his line of work.
-
I thought the worst call was "Tripping" on Lucia's kid in the 3rd period of Saturday's game. Good grief.

Obviously, he forgot to include the appearance of the alien "mother ship", Mother Teresa's ghost and Elvis at this road block.
