  1. According to this story, he may have deeper problems than an arrest for crack.
  2. Err nice try, but "addiction" can trigger protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as under Minnesota law. Firing somebody, regardless of contract, who is working through an addiction can trigger a shiatstorm of legal exposure. Moreover, KFAN's owners probably do not want be portrayed in that light. If he had gotten pulled for DUI, I doubt the thread would be this long anyway.
  3. The mere fact they're even discussing a "diversion" program will probably mean he cops a plea, goes into some sort of treatment plan and keeps his job, after a suspension. Powered coke is usually "ok" under most sentencing guidelines, but God help you if get caught with crack or meth rocks.

    Ed Schultz

I remember when he was married to Maureen Schmidt. She was great, and he was still a tool.
  5. The Blues, much like Chicago, have been hyping their new players and creating some "buzz" to get butts into the seats. While Oshie will probably get more press, I expect Porter to be a very pleasant surprise if he keeps playing like he has. I was there with some 'hawks fans and we had some fun with the Blues' fans in our area and at a local bar. STL definitely has some good hockey people.
  6. I was at that game. It was a real pleasure watching a number of former Sioux players play so well in key roles. STL is pretty high on Oshie and the Blues right now.
  7. But that's exactly what will happen. When being a perpetual "victim" is determined to be a sound business model, you don't want to give that up no matter how "successful" you become. That "high ranking delegation" should have consisted of Colin Powell, Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, the Pope, Chris Rock and Britney Spears.
  8. I wish they would dispense with all of the posturing, pandering and ass-kissing leading up to the final result: the retirement of the name and logo. Get it over with, and let the chips fall accordingly.
  9. Actually, they pretty much got their asses handed to them by other tribes, and eventually the US Army. Perhaps the Cowering Sioux would be a more appropriate name. Yes, god forbid people have honest differences of opinion. Your academia is truly showing. Perhaps you're just not a very interesting or fun person. You don't think the inherent problems of reservation life, such as poverty, crime, addiction, etc. have some impact on one's decisions to attend college? Not everbody is as "enlightened" as you. BTW: Jesus called, and he wants his cross back from you.
  10. It's one thing to win the recruiting battles for "blue chip" players, it's quite another to get them to play like it on a consistent basis. One thing I miss about Blais is that he wasn't afraid to sit a "star" once in awhile if they were dreaming about the NHL or some puck bunny when they should have been covering Heatley or Leopold.
  11. What's your problem? This is no time for reason and logic. This is a time for unmitigated panic!!!! I agree that if the offense plays well, the rest of the game gets easier. It's tough to win when you're backed up in your own zone. I must say, I'd getting a bit tired of the slow starts, punctuated by a late-season stumble into the tourney only to get bounced from the FF.
  12. Ya know, I handle most of the legal work for information privacy and data security issues for a large multi-national and, so far, I am not overly impressed by the Association's response, or the vendor's response, set forth in the Herald. The mere fact you farm out work to a third party doesn't necessary release you from liability, folks. And, it's not beyond the FTC's means and demeanor to go after a nonprofit for sloppy handling of consumer information. Moreover, there are a myriad of state-level breach and notification laws that may be now in play, since some of us have migrated from NoDak. Edit: Here's the link on the Association website. Linky
  13. Oh yes, that's right. We're in the presence of "Hockey Greatness" when NDFlyer's on the board. God forbid somebody express an honest opinion. Terribly sorry, your worship.
  14. I tend to agree. More talented NHL players like Crosby, Ovechkin, Kane, Parise, etc. would not be able to play at the level they do now under the old rules. In the WCHA, I'd rather somebody blow a whistle because some flat-footed clod is hanging on a Duncan-type player than watching him drag around same clod who lacks the talent or will to keep up.
  15. Oh, poor baby. Life's tough, sweetheart. Wear a helmet. (To paraphrase Denis Leary) While you conveniently ignore or malign those NAs who do support the continued use of the name/logo. Stop lying. You'll call them "hang around the fort Indians" or something similar. Nice to see Dartmouth lowered its standards to meet some quota.
  16. I may have missed it ... but why in the hell is REA doing this?
  17. I hate the prospect of changing the name/logo as much as the next guy, especially with a gun to our head. However, this has gotten to the point where UND is in a corner, especially with regard to the D1 move and revenue that may result. I see no point in pandering to tribal "leaders", the NC$$ or anybody else. Retire the name/logo on our own terms, let the chips fall as they may and move on.
  18. Which might explain their differing career paths.
  19. Alcohol-related deaths claim 12% of AIs. I'm sure once the Sioux name/logo go away, that percentage will go to zero. Linky

What "knockout punch"? He damn near calls the entire thing a draw based on objective data.
  21. What a bunch of idiots. And these guys are lawyers? Thank god there's affirmative action, otherwise they'd be starving.
  22. "Dismissed" by whom, Louis? Clyde Bellecourt, Russell Means, "Dr." Stephanie, John Hoff and the rest of that half-baked brain trust?

"Numbers are like people, if you torture them long enough, they'll tell you anything." -Mark Twain(?) That being said, it's an irrefutable fact that the smarter, sexier and more attractive types go to UND, while the inbred, slack jawed sheep-lovers settle for 'su.
