  1. Cue the ACLU bringing an "Establishment" claim in 3 ... 2 ...
  2. Regardless of the posturing between athletic departments, egg-headed administrators, political dullards and illiterate "journalists", I think most people would agree that the UND-'su rivalry was/is good for the schools, the state and the fans and supporters of the schools. I recall feeling a good deal of pride when ESPN(?) documented the football rivalry in some documentary they did when both schools were still D2. I'd love to go back and watch another game in the future.
  3. Hookers and blow?
  4. How can you tell? He's like a Golden Retriever ... the same face no matter what.
  5. Bring out the excuses!!!!
  6. I'm waiting for the post game comments ...
  7. I think we saw an early demonstration of "The Law of Unintended Consequences" when UND cancelled the Wacipi Timeout last fall. I'm sure we'll see others in the future ...

    Lucia

Early reports are that Lucia has some sort of inflammation around the brain. Haven't seen a link yet.
  9. Agreed. Effectively, they're "going through the motions" to cover their a$$es politically. IMHO once the D1 issue became a primary focus of the Board and UND, the name/logo were effectively doomed.
  10. No, Molly, people actually have very short-term memories when it comes to money. If UND can show 'su to be the candy-assed cowards we know them to be in very public forums, I see no downside for either school.
  11. I see the seeds of an interesting marketing campaign for UND's D1 move ...
  12. Precisely. Hiding behind a Commissioner's dress, and lameass comments, is not really a good way to conduct athletic scheduling.
  13. It sounds like Douple was talking out of his a$$ a few days ago regarding Summit's interest in UND and the name/logo issue, and he's still at it. At the end of the day, I think we are now seeing the real rationale for the state and UND caving into the NC$$. If the name/logo are going to interfere with a full transition to viable D1 status, the name/logo are going away
  14. Damn, some of my fondest memories about the Gophers' series involve standing in line outside of the old REA after pregaming at the DownUnder or Frenchy's, freezing my a$$ off, drinking and throwing snowballs at the Minnesota bus as it pulled up. /good times
  15. What "controversy"? The name/logo are going away next year ...
  16. IMHO the "power" in college hockey has swung east the past couple of years. The rise of Notre Dame, for example, helps the CCHA, even though most of us would have laughed at the prospect of Dame getting into the Title game in the past. These swings happen, and at some point the WCHA will actually be a powerhouse conference again. This year ... not so much.

    Lucia

And yet you still find yourself affected and offended by the events at hand in the Twin Cities.
  18. It's the WCHA ... quality officiating isn't a requirement.

    Lucia

According to USCHO, Lucia won't be making the trip to REA next weekend. I hope it's nothing serious. Linky
  20. Most hoo-ah! I spent nearly six years in "the Machine" before I attended UND and it was the best thing I could have done, even though I had dual MOSs as an 11B, and a 31V. I learned how to use a variety of weapons and commo systems, jumped out of planes, deployed to "interesting" places, and spent a good chunk of time in Europe drinking and carousing. Good luck to you learning to keep those "Sh**hooks" flying, and let us know how it goes.

    Jobs

I tend to agree. Once I got some solid experience in my field, any job I got was either from "word of mouth" from friends/competitors in my industry or when I was called by a headhunter. Actually, when I lived in MSP and was tasked with hiring, I tended to look for UND grads whenever I could.
  22. It's one thing to recruit talent, and it's another to get them to play to their fullest potential when they get to campus. Some coaches are gifted enough to do both well, and others need to rely on their staff to cover them when necessary.
  23. If we didn't keep running into these "hot goalies" nearly every series ... ???
  24. No, no. It's "hot goalie".
  25. We worked hard, but the ice was just too slippery!
