  1. I think somebody forgot their helmet a few times before they got on the ice. What a moronic idea.
  2. I doubt I'd ever buy a "plain" North Dakota jersey, or even some "new" name/logo gear. I like my Sioux garb, and intend to wear it as long as possible. I could see some Sioux gear command good pricing over time as it becomes more rare. May be the only investment worth holding over time ...
  3. In some respects Owens is constrained by the talent he can bring on board due to CC's higher academic requirements. You may not see alot of CC alums in the NHL, but you may see them at top tier medical and grad schools. Moreover, I think as long he keeps them reasonably competitive in the league and nationally, he'll be there for a while. With regard to Lucia, I don't understand the thinking that he'll be forced out soon. He runs one of the finest programs in the country, and has a couple of Titles too. If Minnesota ran at the bottom for 2-3 years in a row, maybe. Then again, I fully understand gopher fans' thinking that he's past his peak, since it's been a few years since they were in the FF.
  4. Precisely. They'd probably hire a marketing firm, do a few focus groups, design an "eye-catching logo" and we'd probably end up with the "Prairie Sun" or "Dung Flies". As far as other NA names, given their track record in warfare over time as evidenced by their current state, we'd be better off with the "Surrendering Frenchies" than "Fighting _______"
  5. Meh. Walk it off, he'll be fine.
  6. I remember that one. We staggered back from the Down Under about 1:00 am utterly wrecked. It really didn't seem that cold and we couldn't figure out the fuss ...
  7. Not sure, it's going to be about 78 and sunny here.
  8. SWEEEET!
  9. I would rather avoid any other Indian-related name/logo entirely. Nothing's to prevent some tribal council or other governing body from being controlled by the same folks who seem to run Standing Rock.
  10. I agree with their approach. When the Sioux name/logo go away, I see no reason to adopt any other moniker.
  11. Especially if the gopher was still alive. In that case, a live badger would have been legendary.
  12. If we don't see some guy in a Sioux jersey mooning the camera and swinging a dead gopher, we're going to be mighty disappointed.
  13. Perhaps, but your "cool points" would soar to the stars. I like the dead gopher stuff too. Maybe a badger ...
  14. No. They'll go through the motions, give some meely-mouthed report and the the name/logo are still on their way out. But everyone will feel better, we can sing "Kumbaya" and sunshine and lolipops will reign forever.
  15. Just "moon" the camera, like any good hockey fan would.
  16. DeVry University. University of Phoenix. ITT Institute. All of them have crappy football teams and no hockey.
  17. Excellent story. It amply highlights one of the finest rivalries in the game.
  18. There you go being all rational and logical again ... it's going to make Rex's walnut-sized brain melt.
  19. Definitely a loss to the UND community. President Clifford was an excellent administrator and one hell of a good guy.
  20. Moorhead was/is more of a hockey town than Fargo ever was, or will be. And I grew up in Fargo, as well as played hockey on a few different teams in "my younger days".
  21. I suppose he'll get a private nurse or valet next.
  22. I tend to agree. There are professional, perpetual "victims" out there who do nothing but complain about their hurt little feelings and the "hurt" feelings of others. Once the name/logo go away they'll still be around to cry about the lack of NAs on the campus, lack of NAs running Fortune 500 companies, -30 windchill, too much caffiene in their lattes, etc.
  23. And the mascot potential is amazing too!
  24. Approves.
